The network effect means that litecoin will never have value.  Litecoin has no fundamental advantage that would allow it to succeed in place of bitcoin.  If you are going to invest money in a crypto-currency by far the best investment would be to simply buy BTC.

I don't agree with this. Facebook eventually overtook Myspace and I'm not convinced it was driven by features. There are a lot of reasons why multiple networks can co-exist that can have to do with social, cultural or political boundaries. A popular computer game that incorporates litecoins in the future might make it very popular among teenagers, much to the befuddlement of adult bitcoin users.

Buy BTC.
Straight forward enough  Grin, any other opinions?

But seriously, just cut out the middle man and buy btc.  At best you'll be buying mining equipment and find yourself marginalized quickly by more miners and have have to move to the next scam-coin they come up with.  Buying BTC will save you time, effort, and less chance of just losing out completely.
I knew you were being serious, just wanted to see other points of view. What you said is what I'm leaning towards though. Should I put it all in BTC?

Should I buy BTC or mine LTC?

I don't have a miner yet should I decide to mine LTC, I don't pay for electricity. I have about $665 to invest. Im only asking here because I have the inability to make up my mind.  Tongue

Thanks in advance
