From a "lets make the world a better place perspective" should we support only bitcoin right now or altcoins also?

We should absolutely support altcoins because eventually one or more of them will replace Bitcoin. The fun part is trying to predict which ones and then buying them while you can afford 'em.

The coin I believe is most likely to replace Bitcoin for everyday transactions: It's a tossup between DNotes and XEM.
The coin I believe is most likely to replace Bitcoin for people wanting to preserve and grow wealth: DMD Diamond.

In fact it seems to me that the term "altcoins" should fall into disuse, as it has always been a rather derogatory way of referring to all crypto coins that are not bitcoin. Maybe this term was valid when the dominance of bitcoin was practically absolute, but in these days when this domain seems to collapse, the question should be what place bitcoin will occupy in this economy once it begins to be displaced by multiple "altcoins" .

We should support altcoins of course, because it is indeed a support of Bitcoin itself, all of them are crypto currencies and they have many common features and technology. Altcoins actually depend in Bitcoin and most of them are traded using BTC so they are even spreading the word much more about Bitcoin.

In my own opinion, Yes you should. Bitcoins today is getting stronger and the value of it is keep on increasing since there are a lot of people who are investing on bitcoins. We can invest on ethereum and maybe in the future, If there are a lot of people who are really interested in this coin then the value of it will be the same as bitcoins.

I think future Bitcoin will be replaced by Altcoins, and specifically Ethereum (ETH). And 2018 will be the year of the Altcoins boom as people focus on investing in altcoin a lot. Because ETH now has a very large network, completely overcome the disadvantages of Bitcoin are. I hope ETH will replace Bitcoin and become global currencies.

Altkoins are much more useful than bitcoin. Bitcoin was created as a common universal means of payment, while altcoins, which appeared as a result of the ICO. were created for work in some narrow sphere of our life and in this sphere are very useful. I think that this year will be the year of altcoyins, especially in the second half of the year, when bitcoin should be suspended in price.

bitcoin and alt coin are both related to each other.
I support both because I think eating without drinking will not be complete.

Bitcoin and altcoin is a Crypto currency. So even you can inverse in bitcoin or in altcoin. Its nasser on your wish.Since altcoin is best for long term profit.I will support altcions.

bitcoin will continue to run without altcoin, but will run stagnant and even down, altcoin plays an important role in long-term business expansion, the more the number of crypto ecosystems will make the system more complex.

This can be seen from the variations of existing trading volume, altcoin can not be underestimated because it is the best choice when the bitcoin market is experiencing a downward trend.

Of course we should support the altcoins, I particularly support. For me the altcoin are like children of Bitcoin and for that reason I think it is natural to support. But I do not trust all the altcoins, in fact there is  few  altcoinsthat I trust.
Even we don't have trust with other altcoins, considering that they are parts of the entire crypto community we should have to support them all. People are verybchoosy in terms of investment, that's why some altcoins which is not cultivated well by its developer will totally not grow and mostly it considered as dying coin forever.

We do have to support altcoin, because then we can help develop the movement of bitcoin, because altcoin is an alternative way for us to get bitcoin. therefore we must support it

Right. Either of Bitcoin or Altcoin can be supported coz both can be profitted. And they're cryptocurrencies so better support the two.

what do you mean by supporting bitcoin? buying and hodling? that is not an actual suppot, an actual support is buying if you really think there will be a profit in doing so. so no, don't buy bitcoin now just to 'make the world a better place', as it has nothing to do with it.

To clarify, we is basically everyone in the crypto community currently.

I have alts yes but that is for selfish gain, im talking about whats best for the world politically.... some have said they prefer everyone focus on BTC right now - Im not sure & need convincing of this argument.
If you look at all the investors in the alt coin platform you will understand that majority of them started out with bitcoin with the amount of coins being invested in these coins,so there is no war in investing your money to any projects ,it is your call whether to invest in new projects ,i am sure no one will miss out on the opportunity if it is a good project.

The ones who didn't start with bitcoim are the new ones only. The rest started with bitcoin for sure. I don't think altcoins are causing danger for bitcoin, hence no problem for bitcoin here.

That depends whether you see benefits in choosing them. But, in my opinion, Bitcoin is better if you really want to invest since their prices are more reasonable.

Bitcoin has its own cons we cant improve the blockchain altogether so its better we should move. Its really okay to leave your conservatism. Altcoins are as good as btc (atleast some of them). Supporting them really means that we believe in a crypto society.

I would say diversify.  My portfolio is half bitcoin and half altcoins. Moreover every altcoin is traded against BTC. So we can always move back into bitcoin.
