Nearly all altcoins perform very different functions to bitcoin.
This does not mean that all altcoins are useful, but it does mean that the question of whether we should support them is not the question to ask.

The question to ask is whether the altcoin in question is useful and likely to find an audience.

From a "lets make the world a better place perspective" should we support only bitcoin right now or altcoins also?

Depends on a holder of a coin. If they wanted to support other altcoins then why not? there is no problem with that. Just like ETH or LTC I think this two are getting higher now. Just like bitcoin. We can support Bitcoin and Altcoins at the same time. So I think there is no problem with it. We should just know what coins should we need to support in Altcoins.

Some altcoin have better use and better service so its good if we also support that kind of coin. At the same its another opportunity for investment, early investors will most benefit of it. There are many altcoins that have good potential and good future, so lets support them also

Why not support altcoins? Some of the altcoins has the potential too and it us part of the cryptocurrency. By it,  we could get something more and more. Supporting both of the cryptos can make a big opportunity to have here.

We should support alt coins too in case BTC might go down. As I believe we should not put our money in one basket/investment.

yes it is better to support promising altcoins too especially those low valued coin that have a chance to pump later.
Altcoins is making Bitcoin much more faster to use, if there wasn't any altcoins there wouldn't be that many people talking about Bitcoin.

We should definitely support altcoins, as the altcoin market is as broad as ever. There are coins for smart contracts and decentralized apps such as Ethereum, Cardano, Waves etc., there are coins for payment processing such as Ripple or Stellar, there are coins for anonymous transactions such as Dash, Monero, DeepOnion, Zec, etc., altcoins for super computing such as Golem or SONM and many many more.
Bitcoin is the one and first coin, but there is place and rationale for many more to come. Not sure, which of them will survive in the end, but these are interesting times in the crypto world.

I'm pretty sure the future won't require just one cryptocurrency, but several with different characteristics and functions

from all points of view we should support altcoins. If you like the technology, especially if the team is innovating and bringing something new to the table, it deserves our incentive.

so even if this specific coin dies some day, it's innovation may be incorporated in whatever new coin is created in the future, making it better

so by all means, support alts. This WILL make the world a better place!

Supporting altcoins is a must since bitcoin will one day reach it's max supply and there won't be new holders or providers , so that's when altcoins will shine and probably get all the attention of investors , adopters and entrepreneurs so grabbing as much as we could of coins that looks promising to us now is just an anticipated move that can turn to be the best decision of our lives if we missed the bitcoin opportunity in 2012 .

Yo are right. if bitcoin prices too high one day later, surely many people will start using altcoin. therefore I also invest with altcoin, in addition to a little capital, I see there is a great opportunity to get profit from altcoin, although not as big as bitcoin.

I support both, bitcoin and altcoin. I am collecting bitcoin from bounty altcoin, it is effective because if we are lucky, many altcoin are profitable. So, it is very good if we support both. especially for those who have little capital like me.
Yes because some altcoins is also profitable and cheap in price, then its good idea if you also have some altcoin because having them can give you an extra income. Also there are growing like bitcoin but not that much the value of bitcoin.
