As the guy above said you need ToR to access it - and you should thank your lucky star for that. Tor is like a VPN if you don't know what it is.

You could also use http://tor2web.org/.

don't.

Use a proxy, but it should be fine to browse silk road, just don't buy anything unless you're using tor.

Aren't the majority of people imprisoned in the US due to drug related charges actually users with only small amounts of drugs found with them?

Yeah, I think so. Although you'll only go to jail in your black or poor and white. The middle classes usually get a pass.

You need TOR to view the Silk Road site.

The Silkroad blew my mind when I first heard about it and then shocked me even more when I actually saw the site and knew it was for real I couldn't believe there were actually sites that did those sort of transactions. It sounds pretty dangerous though for anyone who is a actual customer.

yeah silk road is probably the reason why most people even got their bitcoins in the first place. Grin haha

I wouldn't say "most". Lots of people did actually mine coins! But yes, a "certain proportion" of early adopters have provably gotten their coins from Silk Road.

I think it was about half Smiley

I really doubt it. I would say far less.
There were other  ways to spend your bitcoins (sd) and also lots of people used it for vpns and other www services.
And some never used their bitcoin on anything just stored them and waited.

If the fbi got their hands on all the activity on SR , if they decide to make some numbers public they will finally shed some light into it. But to many ifs.

Couldn't put a number on it. But I'm sure the Feds have a list of people they will want to "interview" about SR involvement ... quite a long list Wink

But let's be fair. Mining in 2011 was a relatively straightforward way to get coins. You didn't have to be selling drugs or laundering the proceeds to get a nice collection of BTC

well that is true..

but anyways, we are now sorry we didn't do either of those things to obtain bitcoins Cheesy

Will be taken down in a few months again USA gets more and more BTC... Smiley Bit safer now though.

Good point. These marketplaces need to start using altcoins more. We don't want the feds owning 20% of all bitcoins.

Plus nobody wants to spend their Bitcoins haha.

Plenty of people spent their BTC at the original Silk Rd. Just ask Charlie Shrem or DRP Smiley
