Totally get you! Using the forum on a phone can be a real pain sometimes. You're just trying to find stuff, and it's like the site's playing hide and seek on that tiny screen. And yeah, when I was diving into web design, responsive design was a game-changer. Responsive design ensures that websites adapt seamlessly to different screen sizes, from desktop monitors to smartphones and tablets. But it's not just about appearances; it's about keeping things functional.

Here's hoping the forum developers get the memo and spruce up the mobile version. Until then, we'll have to do our best to scroll and zoom!

Is there any way to make bitcointalk simple to use for mobile phone users? (You cam share some tips and tricks)
The view of bitcointalk in mobile phone is similar to pc view, but I need to zoom in and zoom out many times to read and write, is there any simplified view available of this forum like many websites have simplified view of websites.

I think you probably need to upgrade your andriod device/phone or work on the settings of the phone you currently use. There has to be an optimize button to help you be able to zoom in and out and make adjustments similar to the way a normal PC would.

on pc we can type read and write without zooming in and out but on phone we need to constantly zoom in and out, slide, etc. always keeping fingers on screen. which i don't like so i wanted to know if their any simplified version, or mobile friendly version of bitcointalk website.

there text are written in a little bigger size, and we don't need to zoom in to read all replies, just scroll after one reply to another reply.

Dude, to be honest I have so many add on, extension and mobile apps by using many user for changing the looks of this forum whatever it on desktop or mobile. But it also true that in the beginning I face very difficulties to understand many things. But after giving some time and exploring on the forum I understand the systems.
As I am seeing you are already on full member rank I don't think your experience need simplified view for. Even then everyone should have their own opinion. But truly now I am loved with this things of this bitcointalk if there was any change happen in the future I will not feel that much good. Roll Eyes . Currently I am also posting my post on mobile also. Wink

You can do this with ease with some of those browsers that are available on Play Store or App Store which automatically zoom in and give you a clearer and better android interface without you having to do that yourself. You can also put your browser on mobile not PC to aid you use the site comfortably without having to zoom in or out to read and write posts.

Many of these faetures are available on many of these browsers and using them is not that difficult. I feel the mobile interface is good enough if you are the kind of user that I am. I like to zoom and out which is quite easier for me. If you find that difficult, you can try other options people had given you earlier before now.

The longer you stay in the forum the more you get used to the current interface both on your pc or your mobile phone, zooming in to view the content of a thread is not really a big deal it takes less than a minute to get it done.

You not only need to enlarge the display of the topic, but you also need to move the screen from left to right every time because the content does not appear entirely on the screen, and this is the annoying thing, especially if the topic is long.

For me, I find the display on the mobile phone very annoying and difficult to get used to, even if I spend a long time browsing the forum, especially for those who own mobile phones with a small screen.

Not only reading but also writing is annoying especially when you need to use writing tools.

Bitcointalk on mobile is as good as it gets, it all boils down to what you are used to. People who are using bitcointalk on desktops mostly will find it hard on mobile and vice versa. I've been using this forum on phone since day one, zooming in-out has become so ingrained that I ain't even aware of it.

Scripts or browsers which condense the view to avoid zoom in-out rather make the forum look ugly, imo.

It improves the visibility a little bit and widens what you can see on your screen. But I find posting in landscape mode harder than in normal view. The keyboard occupies half of the screen, and makes reading forum posts harder when active. I also don't like the space between the buttons that occurs if you turn the phone to landscape mode.

Actually, we can't replace the convenience of typing with a keyboard and hovering via mouse cursor so it becomes mandatory if someone really wants to make posts with proper formatting, quoting multiple posts and answering in one post, or editing one post into multiple to answer each and every part separately.

We can use the landscape mode for reading purposes but I am okay with the vertical orientation with a little bit of zoom in/out if necessary and an occasional post without quoting or quoting the complete post.

If you are posting only with a phone, tough luck, Bitcointalk won't give you too much pleasure.
In case someone doesn't have a PC then your best friend is going to be an OTG adaptor with that we can connect a keyboard, mouse even gaming console with USB ports to Android devices.

That's a decent alternative, and I didn't think of that. I have heard of such Bluetooth keyboards but never seen one up close or heard anyone close to me owning one. Looking at the prices, they seem affordable, which is another plus.
I have one but it is made for a Samsung tablet but honestly, it doesn't give the experience of an actual keyboard. The ones shared look like actual ones so it may be the one.

Too bad that you can't connect an external mouse to the keyboard which would work on the phone as well.
Still possible, connect the wireless keyboard and wired mouse via OTG then here you go the mini computer. Cheesy

If you are serious when using phone or if mostly have to use phone to type on Bitcointalk, like some people shared they don't have good chance to access computer, you can use a Bluetooth keyboard. It is a good combination between phone and classic key board and very helpful when you want to type more accurately and quickly.

That would effectively turn the device into a small computer when it comes to posting at least.

If you are posting only with a phone, tough luck, Bitcointalk won't give you too much pleasure. But if you are combining a mobile device with your desktop, it can be used for the occasional post here and there. You could, for example, write your posts without quoting and doing much editing from your phone, and when you are back on your desktop device, you edit the posts properly.

The cons is still hard for editing quotes.

There have been many requests like this before - but I think on average they are made by relatively new members [not old users]. I don't know why that is - but this forum is with me every day even though I'm having a little trouble when posting on my smartphone. Of course I don't mind how it simple display - but it's probably true that a new project should be finished given the needs and demands.

At this time I don't know if development on EpochTalk is still ongoing or has been discontinued - but it seems that many people have been expecting some new changes for this forum.

What I think should even be of much concern about this forum should be to strengthen its security and safety architecture by enabling 2FA and other stuff that will make account hacks a near impossibility.
It's on going with a SMF patch A concise 2FA/TOTP implementation. It is waiting for approval from theymos as I did not see any confirmation that theymos already approved it.

Some sneak peaks from PowerGlove.
The password reset screen used to look like this:

Now, it looks like this:

The first time it's likely to be encountered is here:

There's a tooltip on the "OTP" field that looks like this:

People still lose their exchange accounts with 2FA so with 2FA, your account can be hacked, it is not nearly impossible.

These look good. Actually few days ago I asked the same question in the forum whether we should have a 2FA option or not. Many agree with me and if i can use my Google Auth app to log into my account then i will feel more secure that no one will be able to gain access to my account even if they somehow manage to guess my password. I hope these security features will be implemented soon.

Indeed, this problem exists. Sometimes need to access the forum from a mobile device and then a real nightmare begins. Frankly, it is very inconvenient to both read and write. Why is there no mobile version of the forum? It seems to me that in the age of smartphones and mobile devices, it is impossible to do without such a version of the site. And all these questions, like the ones OP asks,
(You cam share some tips and tricks)
to make it convenient on a mobile phone, seem like real nonsense.

You will definitely get a solution to your problem, but you need a third party. Are you sure you want to use it?
I'm not sure if you're having a really annoying problem using the phone but so far I haven't had any issues even though the display of the phone is a bit limited.

I tend to use my phone to read some posts, but I rarely use it to post. Of course I had to zoom in and out, but that's normal if you're using a phone. This is the SMF forum with all its simplicity, but if you want to upgrade then you need to take advantage of a third party service.

I agree that Theymos ought to make an official app or whatever it takes to make the forum easy to use on a smartphone.
It's easy to use on my side. I've always browsed this site on smartphone without much ado. The few times I tried it on a PC, it felt bulky and difficult for me to use. Except for those who always want their stuff delivered to them on a platter without lifting a finger, I don't think anyone would say this site on phone is burdensome. Yes, I agree one has to zoom in and out to have clearer views but that's what it's. We do same on other sites and even on PCs too and I don't see anything out of place with that to bother with. What I think should even be of much concern about this forum should be to strengthen its security and safety architecture by enabling 2FA and other stuff that will make account hacks a near impossibility.

This isn’t a fault on the forum design’s perspective but rather a device related challenge and the individual in question. Just as you know, you have a different presentation when using your laptop or desktop device to view the forum and it plays out same way in trading as well. Where some tools are not readily available to you based on what device your accessing the site from.
The closest you could get to a wide view is, switching between portrait view and landscape on your mobile. Other than that, what you have is what you get. If it’s that serious with you, maybe you might consider getting a device with a much larger screen size.

Just busting your....genitals, whatever kind you've got.
Okay, this got me! lol…

Hey, whaddya know, another thread asking about a mobile-friendly version of bitcointalk!  What's it been, like a month since the last one?  It's probably only a few pages deep in Meta, OP.
Not only that one but if we search for related threads we can come across many of them in most of the boards where we have similar discussions but members avoid searching for such previous threads even though some of them are not too much old like this one here : https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/a-mobile-app-for-bitcointalk-forum-5461257 and this thread also has many related links for mobile friendly app suggestions or browser extension and normal discussion back from 2018 or so also.

It is what it is, signature really look more nice on the windows view than the mobile phone. On mobile, it doesn't usually look bold and I don't think there is any simplified view you should expect or better still you can use your PC. Even if you are using some other website on mobile phone, you still need to zoom in before you can be able to see everything clearly.
