distributing the coin by paying the developer the coin make for a quality product.  If you was a coder working you want to deliver the best product before the release of the new update.. many dev's once receive the funds have nothing at stake many project develop very slowly and do not care at the end of the week..

Right. Only thing is nobody knows how many coins will be available in next phase.

The distribution methodology is being worked out. I highly doubt that there is going to be anymore ICO phases.
I think the dev had it right when he said that icos are a good thing. Incremental icos that increase by 50% sounds nice. However, I believe current price is too high. Total mkt cap based on total supply should be 20 mill so that there is room to grow. Growth is its own marketing. So I think some coins should be burned if that's possible.

It's a complicated problem because with a coin like this - you want it in the right hands. This is specifically correlated to technical development.

Such a good coin, comparable to maidsafe etc. But... this distribution confusion kinda takes away from everything.

Yes is there any documentation of current supply vs past? will there be another ICO?

hard to value whether to bother here with so little coherent info.

The current supply can be seen in the block explorer: http://explorer.skycoin.net/blocks

Coin supply : 5250299

We will post some more clarifying info during the following days.

Nice! So coinmarketcap should be based on this supply

Why is the coin on an exchange and having ICO at the same time? Seems like a launch with no logistics.  Embarrassed

The ICO round is done for now. Skycoin has begun trading on the first exchange.
What is that supposed to mean? The exchange has it's own price and the ico has another. Why is there ICO's going on when the coin is already trading on an exchange?

Why not have all the rounds now, distribute the coin and then let us trade on exchanges? Instead of messing up the economics by having future ICO rounds when the coin is already trading on exchanges.

I don't see any problem with it. Investors can trade directly or through escrow after first ICO round. So, official exchange listing it's for usability.
It's don't harm investors from first round: next ICO round should have a higher price (1500 SKY for 1 BTC as I know).
And the exchange provide opportunity for those who want to leave the project. So devs should care about project attractiveness,
otherwise no one will buy coins from the next round, if they can buy cheaper on the exchange. If investors don't want sell you can't buy a SKY with lower price than next ICO round.
I like this decision.

All right. Good luck with the project. I really like the tech but I think these ico phases while already having the coin on an exchange will severely limit free market and price finding, especially when interest for the coin rises enough to create normal market liquidity, the price will never move far from next ico phase prices. I personally have my bids very close to ico prices and will not be moving them.
