Hi Graham,

Good news!  Wednesday Slimcoin completed loading the blockchain.  I was able to restart the process by closing down the wallet and restarting it. I did this once every day and it seemed to help it along. So I guess we can say the blockchain upload works on OS wallet, but you have to give it at least a week.  

No worries about the blockchain back-up being unavailable, as it meant we were able to test it the upload from start to finish. Thank you for your generous offer, but instead please accept from me this smallest of donations to the success of this noble project.

As far as I understand it, decayed coins are burnt coins that will no longer be eligible for PoB minting, in fact these seem truely burnt. Still as far as my understanding goes, the total burnt amount - the decayed amount is the amount of coins that is currently actively trying to mint a PoB block.

Please correct me if I am wrong with my assumptions.
What I personally wonder is, if it makes a difference if I burn 10x100 coins in i.e. 10 subsequent blocks or 1000 in one single block ?

What does it mean decayed coins? It's a bad thing? I already have them, but no SLM was generated yet.

I have seen this with fully synched SLM wallets too, just make sure to wait long enough, the blockchain is quite long already.
I believe it is just veryfying the blockchain on disk and that can take a lot of time.
While you only have the splash screen with the logo, check if your cpu and disk are active. Let it hum along as long as there is activity and be patient, say at least ~20-30min depending on your computers speed.

Try to check the debug.log in the coins folder (should be at the same place where the wallet.dat and other files are, I think Graham mentionned the locations on windows in an earlier post) it should report some progress.

I'm going on testing the Windows Slimcoin Wallet.

I burned a quantity of coins yesterday and let my computer on for the night.
Today when I looked in it there was some new coin minted and a Windows OS message, I suppose, that Slimcoin Wallet was stuck.
I closed the Wallet and tried to relaunch it several times, waiting dozens of minutes as well, but it was stuck on the logo image.
I tried also to use the earlier "stable" version 0.3, with the same result. 
Any suggestion?

In these cases, sometimes it is better to delete the blockchain files (addr.dat, blkindex.dat, blk0001.dat and the database folder) and sync again.

What I do to avoid to have to sync all again is to make regularly a backup of the mentioned files, so I have a "snapshot" to go back. A few pages ago Graham has published a recent snapshot.

Thank you I've updated my slimcoin.conf file and waited for some hours, but the slimcoin wallet is still stuck at the same point.

It seems like the Inscribe feature is not checking if the wallet is locked/unlocked (didn't look in the sources, though) because when I try to do this on a locked wallet on my Mac I get this nice alert:




I tried a regular transaction, sending from one machine to another and everything went smooth after I was asked to unlock the wallet.

I might be wrong, though.

I'm testing the v.0.5 version of the qt wallet on Windows 8.
My slimcoin.conf file is
After 24 hours of synchronising with network I'm still on "846241 block remaining" mark and it's not going on at least since 22 hours.
The debug.log file reports that it's trying to connect to each of above addnode, but is not able to do so (connection timeout).
I have 1 active connection to Slimcoin network.

Should I give up with this Wallet version, or there is something I can do?

I reverted to the original Slimcoin logo and made a slight modification to the start image file - it is by no means a "final version" but at least it should be a little bit less ugly now.

Great! Regarding styles, I would mainly target the headings and the site title that could benefit from another font. Also, a short two- or three-column section like on bitcoin.org (the section with "Fast peer-to-peer transactions") would be cool. I think a download section could also be added, like for example on the Litecoin site (in my opinion one of the better altcoin sites as it is not too overloaded).

Regarding translations: Are you familiar with Markdown? (It's easy, here is a cheat sheet.) If yes, simply download the pages you want to translate with the ".md" extension from the site repository (only those in the main folder are needed). If not, I can send you the texts in plain text via PM.

What is your opinion about the HTTPS issue? Can the key generator be safely used via standard HTTP?

Does someone know if there are ways to add a custom SSL certificate (Let's Encrypt) to a custom-domain Github Pages web site? I've not found a guide for that until now.

@bobitza2020: Thanks! I like the second and the third one. There are two observations. First, the font is a bit small, so it wouldn't be suitable for favicons and the small logo at the top-left corner of the web site, but I think that will occur with all designs that include the full name. Second, the logo should also be integrated in the software - or not be too different from it if we chose to keep the current logo or only a slight variation of it.

While PoB is an interesting technology, what is its advantage over coins? I guess I'm still somewhat lost, so apologize for the uninformed question.

I guess I am asking-how can this coin compete with the big guns, far in the future?

I tend toward the second one but all of them are such an improvement that picking one at random is sufficient.
