Agree the logo looks rough, the "S" is a totally weird font.

Here's a few ideas with the full name , for fun Cheesy

More importantly, sort of related to the https issue, there have been a few instances of wallets getting changed by interceptors and similar issues. Even litecoin had that problem. So far most coins ignore that. I still don't get how to use gpg or whatever, but I do right click on a file and check the hash with 7zip if a file hash is listed.

Seems since Slimcoin is out of the herd a little and faster to innovate might be a good idea to set some standards on making sure people download what they are trying to download without any surprises.

Do you think they can implement in wallet burning coins function?

I'm not familar with the implementation but my educated guess is that they'd have to work explicitly to stop it.

The term “burning” is, in essence, a UI confection to help users establish a mental model of an abstract domain which can neither be directly inspected  nor directly manipulated - the software acts a mediator in both cases, interpreting the domain to the user via analogies in order to avoid forcing the user to work with the underlying cryptography functions.

The analogy uses a model of addresses, accounts and transactions to represent the operation of cryptography functions and the resulting state changes. The analogy (or more properly in this case, metaphor) is a weak model and the originators failed to understand the full impact on the user of presenting such a weak model.

Simply sending coins to the burn address === “burning the coins”.

This can be done in any Slimcoin client that conforms to the comms protocols - be it by clicking a button on a GUI or submitting a JSON-RPC sendto request to a headless daemon's API, irrespective of whether the client is implemented in C++, Java, Javascript or LISP.

As Slimcoin users, we are observing a convention (and make no bones about it, it is just a convention) that the coins are then unrecoverable and can be subtracted from the total number of coins in circulation.

The software in the reference clients (those actually laying down blocks) treats such transactions as special and instead of calculating a PoS, it calculates a low diff PoW hash which is coded to have an increased probability of winning the block.

The address which is listed in the burn tx's txin (i.e the address which funded the burn tx) is credited with the reward if the PoB guess actually wins. The PoB factor for that tx is decremented with each try (win or lose) and so the burned coins are described as subject to “decay” (another metaphor of questionable merit).

I hope that developers can launch android or ios  Grin Grin Grin

wrt Android, adding an alt to the Coinomi wallet seems fairly straightforward according to Ahmed Bodiwala's commit of Ixcoin support:

https://github.com/Coinomi/coinomi-android/commit/0be43f98f88041adf91ef8f3adfc703caa7d181b

Of course, the proof of the pudding is in the eating, as they say.

Wow. It would be nice. Do you think they can implement in wallet burning coins function? Or it would be only for storing coins? With burning function it would be great, but storing is good also.

Why i cant see on the slimcoind-qt  the minning button or Graphics about the difficulty ,either  a counter of Slimcoin that I all ready mine.

If you can post a screenshot and provide some information about your setup, that would give group members at least a chance of making helpful suggestions.

Do we have wallet for  MacOS?

We do.

I compiled a fresh OS X Sierra version of the master branch just the other day to check that it would sync from the snapshot, I'll fire up the VM, retrieve the dmg and update the release binary - ETA later this afternoon.

If you want to get started in the interim: https://github.com/slimcoin-project/Slimcoin/releases/download/SLMv0.5.0/SLIMCoin-Qt-SLMv0.5.0-BDB4.8.dmg

Think you can use https://letsencrypt.org/ to get a free SSL Certificate.
That would be better.

I would suggest changing the picture on the website homepage, looks cheap.

Yep, I know, I suck at graphics. But I like the message the (original) image transmits - maybe I'll simply use it without the logo. Or is there anyone here that could create a good-looking version?

I committed an SVG version of the Slimcoin logo to the master branch: https://github.com/slimcoin-project/Slimcoin/blob/master/src/qt/res/src/slimcoin.svg and a GIMP xcf (for embellishment) in that same directory.

I use GH pages for the DOACC documentation: https://doacc.github.io/index.html

I just have uploaded an updated version of http://slimco.in (the github.io site).

Design is still spartanic (based on the Minima theme), but I hope it's a little bit better now than the previous version. And most important: it is multilingual now. Feel free to test it on every device you have access to Wink

I have created a very minimalist start page, inspired by bitcoin.org and with a (public domain) image that is meant to transmit "community" and "p2p" values. Further I have created some guides (download & installation, mining, PoB + PoS minting).

The site uses Markdown and should become automatically built by the Github.com integrated Jekyll instance, so it's really easy to add content and translations.

I'm not a graphic nor CSS guru so everyone that wants to improve on that site is welcome to add her/his improvements/tweaks. Just fork the repo and do pull requests, or if you want to be long term involved request write access.

There is one thing I am a bit worried about: With the slimco.in custom domain, there is at this moment no HTTPS available. I suspect that this makes the key generator Graham ported dangerous, or does it all the work offline and can be safely linked? (I've linked for now to Ian Coleman's generator which supports SLM thanks to Graham's addition). I still didn't find a solution for that problem other than to go back to the simple domain redirection, but that would have disadvantages for SEO. Advices are welcome if someone knows.

PS: It seems the menu is not working properly on small-screen devices (on my phone, it is open by default but should be closed to show the site title). I'll look at it these days.

told you so Dept:

With reference to posts passim, I find I share much of author Jamie Bartlett's take on things which he articulates in an article in the Guardian titled Forget far-right populism – crypto-anarchists are the new masters. And yes, he does mean us.

Cheers

Edit: tangentially but not unrelatedly, the Office of National Statistics asserts that there are currently just short of 32 million jobholders in the UK, suggesting that the future promises to be quite different.

Wow nice buy wall almost 2 btc at 250 satoshi, hard to sell it, uptrend has begun I see now. Very good, cause this coin was under pressure. Still to 1000 satoshis or 100K, which was is long way. But I see it brighter.
