The Windows wallet does work pretty fine, but there were some freezings and crashes reported earlier in this thread. I have a Windows and a Linux wallet. My Windows wallet had no freezings, but I'm not using it very often.

The most severe bug is that the Linux client gets stuck at some blocks, and there is no way to download the block in question other than copying a blockchain snapshot (blkindex.dat/blk0001.dat) from a Windows client to the ".slimcoin" folder. So the best way for Linux users on desktop PCs is to use the Windows client via Wine.

If we could fix at least this annoying bug (Linux client getting stuck) it would be a huge improvement, because most crypto businesses run Linux-based servers. Perhaps bchain.info's latest problems are related to this issue too.

Does someone have applied at YoBit? Development is more important than exchanges, but it would be good to be added there to raise attention.

Delisting on BTER is obviously no good news. But I got the impression too that this exchange is not too trustworthy. (There are two ways to login, for example, one with captcha and the other without ...)

I was able to withdraw all my SLM from BTER, seems that they have fixed this problem at least, and trading still works, too. Perhaps one of the newer altcoin exchanges like YoBit or Bleutrade can be our friend. I've already applied at YoBit (here is the form if someone wants to try, too).

I have also updated the README at Github and created the first wiki pages. The more resources we can show, the more attractive is SLM for both exchanges, users and new developers (still our first goal to reach for long-term success).

Hi everyone,

I'm having trouble compiling JohnnyLatte's GPU version of slimminer. I'm using Cygwin64 to compile on windows 7. I'm able to get to through the following steps:
./autogen.sh
LIBCURL="-lcurldll"
./configure CFLAGS="-O3"

When I get the "make" step, I get the following error:

gpu.h:6:19: fatal error: CL/cl.h: No such file or directory

Has anyone encountered this before? I'd appreciate any help. This is my first time compiling anything on windows, so I'm really new at all this!

Slimcoin does not have a fixed total supply. Inflation depends on difficulty (like in Peercoin) and the "burning rate", because burnt coins are de facto destroyed and cant be spend. Inflation is actually pretty low as most blocks have 10-20 coins and block time is 90 seconds.

Actually total supply is about 8,6 million, and if you rest the burnt coins, its about 7,4 million. Take into account that this cryptocurrency is almost 2 years old, so it's not a very high number.

Burnt coins are actually about 1,2 million (balance of the burn address, SfSLMCoinMainNetworkBurnAddr1DeTK5) , so about 15% of the created coins have been burnt.

- The network is healthy.
- Price has made a > 500 % jump at BTER in the last weeks (from about 0.0000008 to 0.000006 BTC). It looks obvious that someone has bought some SLM as an investment. Maybe it's a pre-pump or even an investor looking to revive development.

You may be right ... at least, we would need really attractive SLM bounties (in the millions, or in the form of a monthly payment). Perhaps I can set up a donation address for bounties if people here trust me Wink

Slimcoin.club seems down definitively. If it won't come back (I have written "a123"), I'll setup a basic web page about Slimcoin, but not on a paid domain for now because I would like to preserve my anonymity. I could also fill the wiki at Github and maybe other cryptocurrency pages with some content.

Don't forget: With all the problems of SLM, we are slowly approaching its second birthday! (~ 100 days left). And the network seems to be pretty OK and stable, BTER still lists it (and it had even a mini-bubble some days ago).

PS: I noticed the order book at BTER is looking better every day, maybe it's the time for an technically savvy investor to get in Wink

You are right KingCZE, actual usage is the most important thing to achieve for a coin that wants to be successful.

The problem is, in my opinion, that the wallet is still too buggy for a larger marketing effort. "Non-nerds" won't be happy with the client in its actual state. If you read the old thread, you will see that the client at the beginning was even buggier and there were many people that left angry because of this issue.

The most important thing for SLM in 2016 is to attract coders that could participate in development.

Miners sometimes are technically savy people, so there is a chance to attract developers from this segment. I wouldn't ignore it.

I don't think pool is such important thing. The coin has to have some purpose - if it become valuable (and I don't mean price, I mean usage, payments by this coin - after that the price will grow too) after that pools will come on their own. You don't have to push miners into the coin - you have to push investors or better servers which would use it as a payment system.

It is simple - if you push miners - more miners will be mining - more people will sell the coin - the coin price will fall...
If you create nice environment with purpose - you will convince more people for buying - the price will grow - the more miners will come on their own and the devs too...

You and many of devs of altcoin are doing it wrong... and always do... again and again...

Miners propagation instead of usage is the main reason why there are so many low-valued coins with no purpose (just for exchanges) determined to die in a moment.

The most important thing is propagation. If you don't want the coin to be just another echange coin which will disappear in a moment, you would propagate it. And I don't mean propagation in miners community. I mean lobbing at exchange servers, creating of interesting apps, nice would be also if someone would convince some server to accept Slimcoin payments in real exchange rates and so on... Miners would come after that. You need to make the coin valued and interresting. Then will come more miners...

Miners are not priority! The priority is MARKETING!

Many developers create coin just for mining at the start and then sell it.
But there is other potential - there is potential to stay next to Litecoin, Dogecoin and so on (or even become more than Dogecoin... and I don't mean in value, I mean in interresting for potential investors, developers, users).

I am not developer so I would be glad if there will be someone who would make some Android, iOS ligh wallet, working pages,...
