Primer, unfortunately it was me who published this thread, not a123 Grin

My interest in this coin is basically academic. I know you won't believe it. I have some SLM but not the large amounts that are necessary to move the price significantly. And price is still very low. That's good, for now, so development can go on without a pump and dump.

Thanks for releasing the Slimcoin whitepaper. I am curious how the concept of proof of burn algo really works.

Idiots..

Yup, an offensive address will be the most effective way of getting the message across. It may not be the intended message however.

Idiots.. Be warned, whoever is trying to revive this shitcoin is doing it for one purpose alone, to dump on the newcomers..

First slimcoind.exe successfully compiled!

Unfortunately, that's not necessarily a working wallet.

The Windows binaries that I have recently compiled from the 0.4 source exhibit the same problems with syncing as do the linux versions -- which is usefully revealing of the recent origin of the issue but also a clear indication that more fixes are required.

I've made repeated efforts to get binaries compiled from the latest sources to sync. AFAICT, the only current practical means of achieving that is to fire up the windows 0.3.1 binary under wine and leave it synching for a night / day+night, whatever and, when synced, simply cp -R the entire Application Support/SLIMcoin datadir over to ~/.slimcoin and then fire up the linux binary.

Now that I have a current blockchain, I can confirm that my linux 0.4.2 version (candidate for release) basically works in that it successfully reads the blockchain and stays in sync.

I'm now trying to mine a block in order to check functionality.

I should now be able to set up a reliable, known (and accessible to me) current node on my Linux server to use as a feed for my local debugging of the synching problem. I now have full triangulation and (with a following wind) should be able to work out where the problem originates. A working Windows version beckons, as do working Linux and OSX versions (assuming that I can persuade Ngaio’s iBook that it’s up to the task).

On a related matter, does anyone have any insights into the likelihood of an interaction between the PoB implementation and the operation of coin control? I'd like to take a wander down the peerunity theme branch but it has coin control which the current Slimcoin codebase predates.

I had forgotten to enable issue reporting on slimcoin-project/Slimcoin. Now it's enabled, you can report the bugs there.

How to report a bug on Github:

  • Go to https://github.com/slimcoin-project/Slimcoin. If you haven't registered yet on Github, you should register (it's free).
  • In the right column, you will see a menu <> Code with a item called "Issues". Click it. Or go directly to the Issues forum
  • In the new screen, look at the already posted issues. If your bug isn't reported, click New Issue. Try to give the most information possible.

I have posted issues for the bugs that were reported in this thread and the last posts of the old thread. Feel free to add information / confirm the bugs.

but nice little project that this project requires an investor. with investors who have sufficient funds to build a great community. oh yes the wallet for Mac OS is already available ?

I think the Mac builds are MIA.

If I can master gitian builds, (John Smith put some effort into the Slimcoin code in that respect), an OSX version should be available in due course.

~ wonders if slimcoin aka "John Smith" might in fact be SN as they always seem to be 'too busy' or wander off to work on other projects.
The command of language testifies to a mature professional (it’s rare these days to see such precision in punctuation):
Quote
That transaction's hash (its unique identification) is recorded separately from the other transactions' as it is a transaction that now contains burnt coins.
Edit: Nope, an inference too far. Reading further: “In principal, when mining proof-of-work”.

Edit: As you were, the details of the commit history carry their own testament that supports BitcoinFX’ conjecture .

I was a little bit busy these days, but I hope I can move forward this weekend and create the new official repo and post the bugs there.

If someone knows a PoS coin (Peercoin-based) based on Bitcoin 0.9 or later, that would be really helpful for continuation of development! I had hopes Blackcoin or Novacoin were more advanced but it seems they're based on BTC 0.8 ... which is also pretty old now.

PS:

We have an official Slimcoin-Project now! https://github.com/slimcoin-project/

The source code repo is https://github.com/slimcoin-project/Slimcoin. As you can see, development on the code is going on (thanks gjhiggins!).

A 20.000 SLM bounty for a "working electrum-like wallet" has been posted on Reddit. Already added it to first thread.

It was wrote in OP:   multifaucet dot tk (marked as suspicious by Bitcointalk, but should be OK)

Do you have more information about it?

Multifaucet.tk was linked in the old thread by the original developer. The block explorer there works, I've not tried the faucet.

At least Google doesn't list it as an attack / dangerous site.

I don't know how the automatic link remover in Bitcointalk works - perhaps it classifies a ".tk" link as suspicious when posted by newbies (as I have posted this in the OP with a newbie account). (It seems it accepts it from a Hero member: http://multifaucet.tk Wink)

I see! That should be. Thank you!
