Life is a taxable event
For every good altcoin there are approximately 1000 shitcoins. There are some genuinely good alts, and they will see their day in the sun. The potential gains are going to be at least 10 fold of what you'll get with bitcoin. You can get a bigger slice of the pie because of a smaller number of holders.

That being said. It takes a ridiculous amount of resources and good devs to see a coin that can offer something good build on top of what bitcoin already has going on. I'm not going to recommend the bags I'm holding right now onto everyone but I suspect 10 years from now, when everyone has forgotten this post I'll be way in the green.

Then again, if you take your BTC and invest 50% in new altcoins that pop out of nowhere making big promises with some new gimmick or other then you'll be left with half your bitcoin.

Altcoins are much cheaper than bitcoin and buying altcoins can increase chances of making bigger profit than investing in bitcoin. Although bitcoin is really the major coin, still less profit are earned from it most especially by small investors and that's one of the reasons why some investors chooses altcoins over bitcoin.

They aren't. You're looking at it from a bad perspective.

For the price of one gold coin you can buy a bag of copper coins but does it mean copper coins are really cheaper and worth investing in if you have say 1000 USD?

You can buy one gold coin or 50kg of copper coins and in the end of the day both will cost you 1000 dollars so copper want't really cheaper. You got more weight but worth the same amount of money! The main difference is that if you keep holding for a year you may not find anyone to buy your copper from you.

People need to realize that what happened in 2017 was a bubble. Back then alts such as Ethereum gave more than 100x returns (when compared to 22x for Bitcoin). Then there were coins such as Cardano and TRX, which gave almost 1,000x returns. A lot of people are still investing in altcoins, thinking that they will also get similar sort of returns. They need to understand that investment bubbles occur only once and they are unlikely to repeat.
Yes, indeed 2017 was a bubble in the cryptocurrency market. but things were a little different. The fact is that the rapid dissemination of information that there is a real opportunity to earn very big money quickly on the cryptocurrency market has led to an impulsive increase in interest in investing in various cryptocurrencies, as well as in companies that did not have good prospects in the future. upon reaching the maximum in the cryptocurrency market, some cryptocurrency users began a massive sale of their assets, in connection with which the offer exceeded market demand, as well as many cryptocurrencies, users began to lose interest and their value fell. as a result, we saw a large drop in the cryptocurrency market, after which many investors lost their money. all this happened for another reason, because the financial economic world was not yet ready in 2017 for the large-scale development of the cryptocurrency market. Today, cryptocurrency is already beginning to be discussed in society and many companies are introducing blockchain and can use cryptocurrency for its intended purpose. it is precisely today that I consider it to be the period when many people and companies will really be interested in cryptocurrency in order to use its daily life and in business. Based on this, the demand will in any case increase and the value of the cryptocurrency will grow, but not as fast as in 2017, but may rise higher than in that period. One of the important factors that will affect public interest in cryptocurrencies is a return of trust.

If that was a bubble then why the price of bitcoin is still high? Ethereum sits on the second because it is used for dapps, no wonder why it gave such a huge returns on its investor. But neither the Cardano or TRON gave a 1000x returns, where do you get this information? You should research first before spitting that stuff out coz we have bunch of new comer here man. Moreover, we can't blame people for trusting some altcoins, perhaps they have seen a potential to that coin that's why they are investing on it right now.

It is the common matter not for the only small investors but also for all altcoins trader. Because we all know that most of the altcoins are directly effected by Bitcoin price. When the price of bitcoin collapsed down, then all the altcoins price also decreased and they also lost their sathosi. But when Bitcoin price moving up, then altcoins price does not move up with Bitcoin and that time also they lost their sathosi. But there are also some different history also for altcoins movement. But in maximum case altcoins trader lost their Bitcoin gradually.

Read this post and its true how small investor are losing bitcoin by investing in other coins.

You can buy 8000 tokens in 1 USD when price of bitcoin is 8000 USD but if bitcoin price will rise to 16000 USD then you can buy 16000 tokens in same price. Now all token price does not move according to BTC price,it will drop 20-30% without any sign of drop, but when you will compare with bitcoin you will find that you are in loss.

I have known this thing since I saw the extremely volatile of Altcoins last 2018 and think about not to fully invest in it unless I fully know the coin. When you put your money on altcoins from bitcoin, expect the worst thing to come because the loss rate is higher than 50%. This were a lot of people who failed when they think they will hit the jackpot just like that and the result there are lots of them who lose their money due to their blind investment method on Altcoins.

If you do just try to compare their value in the first place then its no brainer on which one you would gonna choose.Yes, it might not give you the best multiplier in terms of profit out there but you are at least confident
that you are dealing with something established than risking out on a questionable or non assured shit coins in the market.Of course, alts wont really have that correlation of bitcoins price from time to time and we have seen it over the years that it would either go along side or would be stagnant or would go to the opposite side thats why it would really be just a gamble-like when considering on putting investment on alts,
im not saying its bad but we know that diversifying is always been a good option.

How many times have I said something like that? A lot that's for sure!

Altcoin can pump by themselves but you have to be ready to sell at that exact moment. The rest of the time they will just move up with Bitcoin and you'll gain nohing but when they dump they go down hard and investors lose more than they would if held Bitcoin.

It is not every altcoin that has a price that correlates with Bitcoin, a lot of them are usually moving a different direction from Bitcoin. It is just a few of them that correlates and the few that correlates don't do that 100%, highest might be 90% or so I guess.

Another thing is that when the price of Bitcoin is going up investors are fond of selling their altcoins to jump on the Bitcoin trade and make profit and that leads to a crash in most of the altcoins when Bitcoin is going up. And even when Bitcoin falls, there are still a lot of people that are selling their altcoins just so they can buy Bitcoin when it's falling at a cheaper rate.

Investor looking several ways how to get much profit with short time and they buy altcoin, how ever altcoin most profitable and worth than bitcoin if stable on higher price, altcoin have lower price and give much profit later when raise up above 5% only.

Putting your money in a specific altcoin hoping to get more profit than Bitcoin when pumped is like betting on a lottery. Altcoin is very profitable if you happen to invest in the right coin. Infact, altcoin season is about to come, as there were movements in the market where there are thousands of Bitcoin that was withdrawn from several exchanges as traders became interested in altcoins.
Now, If you can follow these trend, you might be able to ride the pump.

Unfortunately, there is theory that some people buying altcoins when the price reached LL/ price floor/ bottom with closed eyes.
Just because the altcoin is currently cheap doesn't mean the price won't fall again. That's how some coin's prices fall down and that's how some small investors lose their bitcoins. an investigation should be done before every small investing.

In Code We Trust
In the end, altcoins follows bitcoin's price movement as I can see in market each time bitcoin becomes bullish and each time it declines and turns to be a bear market.

But one thing I noticed is that, most of the people way back before in 2017, bought allot of altcoins and it turns out that bitcoin is the cryptocurrency that gains most of the market price. why? Because they use bitcoin for buying altcoins. The history will just repeat itself in the future since bitcoin is the one that gains too much market value, people will be willing to sell their altcoins in exchange for bitcoins.

I think the foremost important thing is many of the small Investors think it's better to have bunch of tokens rather than investing in BTC because their logic is if the price increases they can have loads of money in return, unfortunately these days the price increases only if BTC pumps.

I always Invest even a small amount in BTC instead of investing in alts because if the gears up BTC price goes up two times than others that's the beauty of this coin.

If these investors know the risk I think we can't blame them since it's their choice but sad to say there's no quick money in it nowadays. Those times arr no longer gonna work these days and I'm sure if they were here a long time ago they wouldn't suffer like that. I could say most of the top altcoins would officially follow the trend of Bitcoin but not all of it especially the centralized one.

You cannot compare Bitcoin with others. Therefore the others are called altcoins. Investing in Bitcoin has been always profitable. Small investors think other coins or tokens might replace Bitcoin in the future and that is one of the reason they want to invest in salt. That is why they are also losing money.

As an investment advisor by trade, I often hear people say things like " well the price of this is so low compared to so and so, why wouldn't I purchase this coin over so and so".  People often over analyze the price of investments, when what they should really be looking at is the project itself.  With all the shitcoins out there with absolutely not project worth a darn behind them, this sadly keeps the altcoin market alive.  Bitcoin has a use case, solves a real worth problem and solves it today!

Hello everybody. In some cases, they lose, in some, no. All these losses of small investors are relative. At first, I was also confused with the calculations, but then I began to calculate all the prices relative to the dollar - it’s easier. In any case, when we try to make money on cryptocurrency, we try to convert to fiat to pay for any goods and services that are necessary today. Unfortunately, today the reality has changed a lot because of the pandemic, so many people lost their jobs and some of my friends started to spend their cryptocurrency reserves. Of course, I myself think that selling bitcoin today is a huge mistake, and maybe even a crime - it doesn’t matter how much the price of bitcoin can fall, it is important that over time the price will certainly conquer great heights. The main thing here is not to be confused in the calculations - the one who wants to save bitcoins will never lose when buying altcoins. Mathematics is an exact science, you just need to calculate it well. It is only a matter of time when it will be possible to sell altcoin for a good profit in bitcoin.

The more time goes on it seems like the Altcoin space has become more and more risky.
Its to the point now if you invest anything in any new Altcoin you risk losing it all only put a small amount of  money into Altcoins.
Consider your Altcoin investments as a high risk gamble to get more bitcoin. Do not invest more then you can afford to lose.
