Yeah I know. Bitcoin is surprisingly easy to use. I have used it to buy multiple things online and it was very convenient and secure. For the Amazon situation, you can try find a seller on Amazon that will accept Bitcoin as payment or just buy Amazon gift cards with Bitcoin.

Thanks for telling your experience. It makes readers go hopeful.

You say you scanned a code, so do you have a mobile wallet?

Ya i'm using Blockchain mobile wallet. I know some people hate them because of their XT support but they have this nifty GPS feature the shows me local stores that accept bitcoin. None around my apartment in Brooklyn but in Manhattan there is a ton of bars and restaurants I can go to. I like it better then the coinbase wallet I was using.
Arguably, they aren't always 100% accurate. They can be wrong about this, some places place the  "Bitcoin accepted here" tag but do not actually accept them. Most hate it for the security issues that has arose in the past and not because of their XT support. I believe there are plenty of apps which allow users to search for Bitcoin accepted buisnesses.

Congrats! And don't forget to spread the word! Smiley

I find it so hard to explain to my friends what a digital currency is. Bitcoin will grow when it's dead simple to use. I think we are getting there, but it's taking a while.

You can always buy Amazon gift cards through Gyft. You can always get gift cards for a bunch of other retailers. I recommend checking it out Cheesy

Amazon is one of the major opponents of Bitcoin. Not only they have refused to accept Bitcoin, but also they have indulged in propaganda campaigns against BTC. If you purchase something from Amazon, you are helping one of the major rivals of Bitcoin. And at the same time Bitcoin is not benefiting out of it, as the gift card was used for the purchase. I prefer online shopping using Overstock.

Maybe so but Amazon is soooo cheap, and their delivery is sooo fast, it's hard to resist.

Which website did you end up buy your mouse from? If you don't mind sharing of course.

NewEgg, I have shopped there for years building and upgrading my computers, I always use them for parts. I went for a mouse and ended up buying a combo. It's cheap but it suits my needs. I got this one becuase green is my favorite color, I was born in March, lol, so I had to have it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823129036

I was planning to just save up my Bitcoin and not buy anything. But then my mouse stopped working. Well it works but a single click in now double clicks everything. So I can't drag windows around or move icons and selecting txt is a nightmare. So I needed a new mouse but it's not in my budget for the month. I then discovered that my favorite site to buy computer parts at accepts Bitcoin as payment. So I went there, found a nice Keyboard mouse package deal on sale and purchased it using bitcoin. It was super painless, in fact the process was super fast, even faster then typing in my credit-card info. I just selected bitcoin at check out, hit submit which gave me a QR code, scanned it with my phone, and bam, the website updated instantly and thanked me for my purchase. Now if I could only do that on amazon or at my local deli to buy beer, eggs, bread, and milk I would close down my Citibank account and go totally bitcoin. You hear me bitcoin DEVS, make it happen.....    Grin

Feels great to be part of something incredible right?! That is the best what everybody can do in the beginning when being new into Bitcoin.Experiencing it makes it much easier to understand it afterwards.
However try to refill your Bitcoin stash as soon as possible.Price might continue rising.

gratz  Cheesy, also reviews like these help other merchants see the ease of use in bitcoin and possibly attract them to start accepting btc.

That sounds very convenient and much more easy than using a credit card even Smiley Just unlock your wallet and go!

I have some worse experience doing a purchase in a local shop. The shop hardly knew how to use the system and it took like 5 minutes to get my payment done.

The more people are willing to spend their coins instead of just using them for investment purposes only, the more likely large merchants will show their support by accepting Bitcoin as form of payment. They need to see that people are spending.

Good on you. Any legal bitcoin purchase is a good and helps the community and the ecosystem. People should be proud of spending a bit of coin and should be praised for doing so; even if its just a bit now and then.

Ya I know, but it kind of defeats the purpose in my mind. I mean right now I buy bitcoins with cash. So if I wanted to shop with giftcards I could would just skip the bitcoin part and buy the giftcards with cash as it would save money and time.
True. But purse.io is also worth a try if you're thinking about getting a gift card more rebates IMO and there are various safety tips to follow. Smiley

You can always invest in one of the several bitcoin debit cards that's available. In that way you can spend your bitcoin at your local deli. Bit-X and Xapo offers a card that is directly linked to your wallet [think there is others also] so you do not even have to 'load' the card beforehand, just swipe it and the amount comes off your wallet.

The debit card companies are already jumping on the bandwagon. VISA has come out with a Bitcoin debit card. So yes, your dream to shop at your grocery store with bitcoins could just come true. Let us hope the virtual currency does away with scams before that happens, makes it more safe and reliable.
But the premium that you need to pay is much much higher than directly exchanging Bitcoin on an exchange and transfer it to your local bank account. AFAIK, Visa hasn't came out with such a thing and is unlikely to come out with it. Any link to this news? The only Bitcoin spending card I can think of is coinkite.
