NYPOST.COM, this is a legit news site? If it is, then they should fire this reporter who is just making an accusations which don't have any solid proofs to support his accusations. Of course theres a freedom of speech and he is just saying what he feels, but in his statements seems he surpass the limits. That's very unprofessional. He is accusing China is secretly funding North Korea with bitcoins. That's a serious accusation right there. Anyway, no one will believe this since there's still no confirmations. But serious, fire this reporter.

The article isnt that bad. because he doesnt state a fake news as fact as all the other media does constantly. This reporter actually does say its a rumour/something he heard. Maybe you missed that part? If something is stated as a rumour, I appreciate that even when its "negative news" on bitcoin because in life you grow more if you hear ALL sides, and know BOTH sides, you cant conquer the world if you ignore/ridicule news/information you dont like. That makes you part of the problem actually.

Bitcoin OG

I have seen any real substance of research or verified truth in that assertion because Bitcoin is legitimate in most countries in the world it's not going to make huge decision on online digital currency for one country versus all of the other ones (more powerful and relevant countries).

There is no connection for china and north korea for banning bitcoin. They ban bitcoin because it is not that controllable for them and it is not possible for china to take over bitcoin and dictate it so they just tried their best to regulate it but they failed and the only way to stop the possible change that bitcoin can give to china is they banned the ico up to exchanges and bitcoin.
Not  a single county either China, Koria or Japan or any other country can dictate bitcoin, because bitcoin is a universal and decentralize currency. If a single country will banned bitcoin who will even regret for their decision in near future, i do not think that it will effect the image of bitcoin. I am sure that in near future we will see so many other country who will accept bitcoin as legal currency just like Japan.

If that is the case then that is probably because China has most of the Bitcoin sellers in the world, but that didn't matter as a lot of volume went to localbitcoins.com right after bans.

Anyone read this article?
Its pretty negative towards bitcoin, calling it "bitcon" but still pretty interesting i thought.

http://nypost.com/2017/09/25/bitcoin-market-may-be-financing-north-korea-after-sanctions/

Quote
But I’m told the nations that put those sanctions in place are worried North Korea is getting around them by using the bitcoin market to get secret financing.

And I’m wondering if that’s the reason China, which seems to be on board in pressuring North Korea, recently shut down bitcoin markets.

There could definitely be some sort of connection between the shut down of Chinese exchanges ordered by the Chinese government and the fact that there are rumors saying North Korea is now turning to bitcoin to make a living.

Though i think that the major reason is still because of the fact that the Chinese government does not want bitcoin to take over the Chinese economy, if it gets big.

They don't want to take that risk and let it grow, they'd rather exercise their intervention right now and warn bitcoin companies they are not welcome in China.

It is rare to find a legit news site and all the big ones are liars. They launched the fake news stuff because people already started to show their lies and discredit them. It is like in X-file: deny everything, admit nothing, make counter accusations.

Of course all the news linking Bitcoin and North Korea are insubstantial at best.

I think this news still needs confirmation, china is a super power already, why would they be threatened of north korea, they are so much advanced in all aspects. There is another reason why china would ban bitcoin and it is not because of north korea. I think there arr people who are just making this up,  it is true that china is protecting its people from scam ICOs, and from terrorist cyber attack, that is why china would want to regulate bitcoin first, and also want to take control of exchanges, sooner or later, we might see china legalizing bitcoin again, and this might be due to the influence of russia, since they have a lot of transactions and agreement with them. I think we should validate this news first. Also i agree with the previous post, north korea have limited access to the internet, its citizens might not know what bitcoin is, and how to do investments, i think all that north korea have is their natural resources. We should do more validation for this news, since china would not just give in to north korea.
I agree with you china is so strong and have power. but i think china ban the bitcoin becuase bitcoin is  not control by any goverment so china banned the bitcoin becuase they want a tax to get from bitcoin. So i think not becuase of northkorea.

That 'areticle' is really short. It's not even explained anything.
Only speculation, FUD and blah blah. I think that china banning bitcoin has nothing to with North Korea.
Yes, I know that North Korea is a bit in the heat with other countries, especially US.
So something like those FUD will never end.

Don't take this article seriously.  I am surprised such a looooong and deep article has been published by the NYP
John Crudele is anti Bitcoin and says it's bullshit. If you read random articles from him you will see he usually write a decent length article but when it's about Bitcoin, he writes 3-4 sentences only and brings nothing journalistic, only seeking attention on him.
Here is another example with an article from him related to Bitcoin
http://nypost.com/2017/09/16/bitcoin-fan-isnt-happy-i-said-the-currency-was-a-joke/

really what you say John Crudele is just looking for attention, everything he writes about Bitcoin is mere nonsense. Maybe do not make a new panic by raising such articles, because we still have to be careful in finding valid information about Bitcoin.

No its not like that. You can read it and either choose to believe it or not, whether its true or not, maybe it has a point and it does really affect our economy. We cannot avoid that some people will get panic because of this article, true or not, its still depends on how the readers understand it, this is just maybe and that is what he see in our economic state as of right now.

just another bullshit from someone who failed to do some research before writing something and call it "article".

And I’m wondering if that’s the reason China, which seems to be on board in pressuring North Korea, recently shut down bitcoin markets.

if the author did some research he wouldn't have been wondering about this. he could have seen that their reason is to close an unlicensed business that has been acting shady. and also he could have seen that this is not the first time they did something like this.

additionally they did NOT shut down "bitcoin markets" they closed a number of exchanges and the rest are acting still.

Totally base less statement. It's just a clickbait. The writer tryna be genius posting this kind of news which don't have a strong evidences. This makes no sense at all. If China secretly financing North Korea by bitcoin. Then why China is doing crackdowns against bitcoin? The news is bullshit. Pure speculation because the report didn't even bother to look and attach some evidences to prove his claims. The reporter is just one of individuals who are paid for spreading this kind of news. What a shame.

Are we not yet done about china here.. I don't take a wasted time reading some articles that full of nonsense.. We have to be on the positive end now,, enough of negativity,, FUD,, and bad news.. Things going normal as I posted right now and let China do what they want to do and let they're people decide either they like it or not.. Let they're feet fall when they slipped at once a quote for them..

It is hard to understand, can someone explain to me is not
Why is bitcoin banned in China but related and why from North Korea

What has North Korea do in connection with pressuring China? I don't get it. North Korea is isolated already because of its threat to the world. They are even mining bitcoin so that they will survived from all the embargo the West has put up. But North Korea telling China to ban bitcoin? Unlikely. There are reasons that China has turn its backs to bitcoin, but I doubt that it has something to do with North Korea. The article doesn't explain it and I agree that John Crudele is anti-bitcoin so its not surprising he is attacking it. All mainstream media are riding into bitcoin's popularity so no wonder John Crudele is doing it as well.

I do not believe in this issue, I think china banned bitcoin because the worries of bitcoin users are increasing and can threaten the Chinese economy because the government can not control bitcoin.
I even thought the same but the reason china banning bitcoin is because they are in process of creating a crypto currency that is centrally organised by the government.
