barely a paragraph  which states "maybe" something without explaining anything. What a joke of an article, not one single reference.

That was a baseless statement, China already banning bitcoin long time ago before the time that North Korea participate into bitcoin mining recently this year. This news is not new anymore every year we could read a news about Chinese government banning bitcoin, but still Chinese people do insist, bitcoin is unstoppable and bitcoin is immortal, Hail Bitcoin !

I've been expecting this FUD storm around North Korea for a while now. The media has been giving us tastes for weeks. First, state-sponsored cyber attacks on Bitcoin exchanges. Then, assertions that North Korea is mining Bitcoin. These types of stories help to create a narrative that associates Bitcoin with criminals and terrorists.

It's no surprise; governments have been pushing this narrative for years now. Fortunately, cryptocurrency is increasingly seen to have legitimate uses by the mainstream and by regulators. It takes time and vigilance to combat the FUD, though.

Don't take this article seriously.  I am surprised such a looooong and deep article has been published by the NYP
John Crudele is anti Bitcoin and says it's bullshit. If you read random articles from him you will see he usually write a decent length article but when it's about Bitcoin, he writes 3-4 sentences only and brings nothing journalistic, only seeking attention on him.
Here is another example with an article from him related to Bitcoin

I think this news still needs confirmation, china is a super power already, why would they be threatened of north korea, they are so much advanced in all aspects. There is another reason why china would ban bitcoin and it is not because of north korea. I think there arr people who are just making this up,  it is true that china is protecting its people from scam ICOs, and from terrorist cyber attack, that is why china would want to regulate bitcoin first, and also want to take control of exchanges, sooner or later, we might see china legalizing bitcoin again, and this might be due to the influence of russia, since they have a lot of transactions and agreement with them. I think we should validate this news first. Also i agree with the previous post, north korea have limited access to the internet, its citizens might not know what bitcoin is, and how to do investments, i think all that north korea have is their natural resources. We should do more validation for this news, since china would not just give in to north korea.

It's not impossible to happen, but I think if China were banning or regulating Bitcoin even more because of North Korea possible secret financing they would say it...

And if North Korea is really using Bitcoin to finance their shady activities I think USA is aware about it and investigating secretly.
The only chance for North Korea is to resign and stop threatening others, if they don't want to be destroyed.

Article?
Since when are 5 lines of text an article?
That's one garbage website with 99% clickbait titles.

Besides, how would NK use bitcoin?
They would have first to get them (how?) then buy the stuff which is already a subject of UN resolution) and acquire more btc.
It would be easier for them to get things done with suitcases full of $ than with bitcoin.

Those are just speculation and conspiracy theories.

But I’m told the nations that put those sanctions in place are worried North Korea is getting around them by using the bitcoin market to get secret financing.

And I’m wondering if that’s the reason China, which seems to be on board in pressuring North Korea, recently shut down bitcoin markets.
