I really could not feel disappointed if he would not be successful with... whatever he is developing.
Although I have no idea of what he tries to create, just the name KimDotcom already has that touch of bad carma.
And this guy making his next business about bitcoin, that is something I would rather not want to read in the newspaper tomorrow.

Exactly right, he's poison. His involvement in Bitcoin to the general public would just be another example of a criminal element like Silk Road loving the new crime money. Every time someone like him preaches for Bitcoin it's just another nail in the coffin of public perception. About half of my friends already think I'm nuts for having any of my money tied up in "crime dollars" as one friend put it. Another one of my friends asked how much I have invested in the Medellín Cartel (because I support Bitcoin).

As Far As I Know, KimDotcom will be launching it next year or early first quarter of 2017. I am also eager to know his project since I know,it will have a great impact on bitcoin community. I am hoping his project develops, implemented and fully utilized to exploit its potential for the benefit of community.

I'm not so sure, whether his product will really be that innovative. Kim Dotcom is very good at marketing. He makes a lot of announcements, full of promises. However when it comes to real results, there is a lot less to show.

Bitcoin and Bitcoin users don't need Mr. Dotcom, Bitcoin is working fine as it is. If he truly had the intention to improve Bitcoin, he would have joined the development community. But he lacks the abilities to make a meaningful contribution anyway. The projects of Kim Dotcom serve primarily the purpose to generate profits for him, which is o.k.. Expecting anything special is not realistic.

ya.ya.yo!

i agree with you, but like you said he is very good at marketing and that's the main point to bitcoin.
if his idea will be revolutionary doest matter, all that matter is more buyers to bitcoin and price increasing Cheesy

He said it would launch on 1/20/2017: https://cointelegraph.com/news/kim-dotcoms-megaupload-2bitcache-reaches-funding-target-now-what

Still unclear as to whether he needs SegWit changes to be activated prior to the launch, hopefully not.

Well I would assume he is going to suffer without segwit because segwit fixes the malleability problem thing and this is always very useful specially when this guy wants to make something that relies in massive amounts of microtransactions. The idiots blocking segwit really dont know what they are doing to bitcoin.

He may be able to work around it without SegWit like Yours is doing, in which case the only bottlenecks would be on and off-ramping with BitCache.

KimDotcom is still struggling with the law on the account of his big lawsuit related to MegaUpload i don't think we are going to see any real result out of this project anytime soon! and i said it back then the first time i read the first tweet, he is showing the project bigger than it really is.

im still wondering why people are getting excited about LN/bitcache..

do you guys know its just the same as using bitgo, or a multisig where one key of a 2of2 multisig is owned by kimdotcom.

LN and bitcache when you brush away all the buzzwords is not a permissionless system. bitcache and LN hubs become the bank/paypal 2.0 where the funds you deposit in then need their signature(authorisation) for you to move funds around.

its like having a joint bank account with someone you have never kissed or touched.

if you think dual signing with remote entity having 50% control is acceptable in exchange for speedy transactions. you might aswell stick with paypal/visa

He had to pause development due to his hospitalization for double chocolate cheesecake and deep-fried banana split disease. His wife (shown below) recently visited him in the hospital and he ate her. He was recovering nicely before that but unfortunately he got her rib cage stuck in his throat and had to be rushed in to surgery to have it removed.

Kim Dotcom is not the only person in the world, that makes promises and then only delivers months and even years after the first anouncements. < Other examples : MicroSoft / Blizzard & even our developers of our new Bitcointalk forum software }  Roll Eyes You have to understand how clever marketters have to hype up their business offering, when they are looking to crowd fund their projects. The potential investors will never drop money into a project, if they will only see ROI in 5 to 10 years from the date of anouncement. < Well some crazy rich people do, but they are the execption, and not the rule >

i remember it was mostly hype and no good information about the technical aspect of it. he kept everything general and kept talking about the price of bitcoin and to da moon Smiley
and also he never gave any clear "release date" as far as i can remember.

kimdotcoms version of LN is not ready.

as for 'at around december'..
that could mean november december or january.

a bit early to shout 'there is nothing'

much the same as segwit announced segwit by christmas.. but dont expect it by christmas.

wait for sgwit, LN and kimdotcom's LN news after the new year

and by 'after the new year'. i dont mean literally quote me on january 1st and say im wrong. take it contextually as some time in 2017

Hahahaha! That made me really laugh. Thank you for that franky. Cheesy

OP, try to find out if Kimdotcom's, as franky said, version of the Lightning Network is open source or not. If it is then look for it at Github then follow the development of the project there. See how active it is, how often commits are made and how many people are making contributions and when. From that you will get a good idea if Bitcache will really materialize or not.

I am really interested to see what Kim will come up with, the whole Megaupload thing was a big success for him, well until they shut it down and put him under house arrest but what a house he has to be under arrest in.

We will probably here about his new project sometime in late Jan early Feb 2017.

As long as his project creates new users, I'm fine with whatever KimDotcom is doing.
File sharing is and always will be a huge part of the internet, and whatever service they create could seriously increase the demand for Bitcoin,
which would (hopefully) drive up the price.

As far as I remember Kim Dotcom claimed to have a product that would solve a lot of existing problems with bitcoin, and he would deliver a package that included a new megaupload 2.0 that would help bitcoin become mainstream. He claimed give a press release at around december so here we are and I still have not seen anything. Anyone knows what's up with this?

I think he said it would be released early 2017  Wink  which could mean anytime up until March of that year, and i dont think it was to be the full implementation of the whole thing.  it takes time and the guys had a lot on his plate recently, but i expect him to keep his word.

He said it was going to show up sometime soon, it doesn't mean that it is going to immediately come out as soon as the estimated date does.

If anything I'm surprised that it won't be taking him and his devs longer to bring it out, assuming it comes out within the next few weeks.

Sounds like a neat thing, but I'll have to wait and see whether or not it is going to work well.
