Wat

Yeah, I linked to that in my posting. This is great news for BFL Single owners. That release says that you will get 100% of your value (in this case $599) on a trade in for ASIC equipment with BFL,

The FAQ confirms this applies to second hand items:
http://www.butterflylabs.com/bitforce-sc-faq/

"Upon release of BitForce SC based Singles & Mini Rigs, all previous generation BitForce products will enjoy a full 100% trade in value when used towards the purchase of the newer generation replacements.  This means your current device is protected from depreciation through this evolution in technology.  This buy back offer is good for all previous generation BitForce units whether purchased directly from us or from a third party."

You will only get 1:1 though

at that point you can get 3.5GH for $149. That would make ones of these worth about $35 in comparison.

Woo hoo!  Happy days!

I'll wait for the current gen singles to hit the refurb market for $100 each after the trade-in program gets started.
That makes no sense.  They will be according to BFL worth $599 towards new hardware. No one would keep em when they could trade in.  I doubt BFL will sell them for $100.

They'll go for whatever people are willing to pay for them.  Warmed-over leftovers aren't worth much.

rather just wait for bfl to take pre-order n wait.

Given the delays BFL has had in the past in delivering, it's probably better to mine until they ship a unit, and then trade in.

I like it. A cool $4000 profit for doing absolutely nothing.

I am giving up the ability to use these to mine over the next several weeks. If I were to take the money and order another Single with it, I would bet that I would come out behind.

Where are you located for shipping costs !

I'm in Florida, but I'm using flat rate priority shipping.

I wonder what the expected wait time for trade-in's will be though, lol.

& then figure time lost without singles as they are being shipped to bfl...

then the time lost waiting for the asic's you traded for to be shipped to you...

and Shipping costs more then likely to & from bfl.

LOSS at any rate... lol...

rather just wait for bfl to take pre-order n wait.

add all that up.

Nice $200 markup mate !

You have to consider the opportunity cost in waiting. For one thing, BFL is saying that they aren't working on any more Single orders to focus on the Rig deliveries, so you could order from them and hope to get it in 3 months.

I like it. A cool $4000 profit for doing absolutely nothing.

Can you make a GLBSE thing so we can invest ?

Also, worth mentioning that BFL tradein works even if you are not the original buyer, so more power to you Fjordbit.

Absolutely nothing? He had to front tens thousands of dollars up front, something that is not trivial.

At 6.5, that's 123BTC. That's what I paid for mine from BFL less than a month ago!

Am sold out of the BitForce Singles I had for sale. These were delivered to me last week. I actually ordered 30, and I've unboxed all of them, want to keep 17, and have sold 13.

I am selling each of these for $799 in bitcoin. It is an additional $20 in shipping (US only), and I can fit 3 in a box. They will be sent priority mail. This will get them to you in 3-4 business days as opposed to 2 months or more waiting for Butterfly to fullfill your order. These took 75 days to fulfill and in that time at the current difficulty, one of these units will produce 36.351 bitcoins (about $243).

In addition, Butterfly has announced that you will be able to use these units for a $599 trade in for their upcoming ASIC units. Mine now at the lower difficulty rates and then trade in when the next generation is available:

Thanks,
Fjordbit

All of these are tested running the 832 flash with no throttling. I will wrap them back up into the bubble wrap that came with them and send them priority mail with tracking.

Edit: I decided to keep 17 instead of 10. Sorry to change this (I did say originally that I might want to keep more), but this will work out the best for me.
