I don't connect to any newly launched website most especially to swap my token, for security reasons i love using Trust app instead Metamask wallet. Most at time if I noticed any silly operation on any site I quickly make a new wallet and connect instead of using my funds storage wallet to compromise.

A good way to build some backlinks of their website, bitcointalk has a high DA and that is why many article websites do share things here and I understand that it makes sense and allows them to be better at SEO for sure. However, metamask is already quite safe and gives you all the security risks and ways to defend them as well.

The biggest one is keeping all of your information on just a single website, or phone or anything like that. That means if that gets broken then you have zero ways to get back. However if you end up putting it on paper, then you could get back in it even if it is broken.

But make sure PC security is free from any kind of virus from surfing the internet and installing unofficial applications. In addition, Metamask users must save all private keys for each ETH address used, because Metamask does not have an export wallet file feature for all private keys, this aims to prevent unexpected operating system crashes.

Any of you guys using MetaMask? What other wallets would you recommend?
If use for mobile wallet app, I add trustwallet and safepal.

I've stopped using metamask wallet few days ago, I used to be trust wallet fan but it's more easier to add and use extra chain networks on metamask for swaps like pancakeswap and other but since they now have the power to ban IP addresses from Philippines and other I gave up on the wallet.

We cannot avoid the fact that many frauds occur, but we can avoid fraud if we do not make mistakes with many causes.
the most common is when we receive help from someone who wants to help if we experience something difficult and we no longer control who helps. is this the correct source or just a resemblance.

I am also a user of Metamask and I see that Metamask is actually very good and is definitely very helpful because of its easy-to-use interface. but the security issues that occur in metamask clearly need information too.
but what op said for point one is no longer valid if the metamask password can be known, because they can take the Private Key. for the next point I think it is very correct and needs to be done well, especially the password and opening the correct site, in a way so that if you can save it in bookmarks for sites that are often used so that you don't go wrong by entering fake sites.

The best advice for a metamask is to use a metamask with a ledger or trezor hardware wallet. If you use defi applications, then carefully monitor what approvals you give projects to debit your tokens.

Thanks for these links. I was wondering where I can see what outstanding authorizations there are on addresses. |Regarding using a Ledger, I agree only use a Ledger with Metamask. Any other use of Metamask should only be for a brief temporary transaction like receiving something there and then moving on to your Ledger for example, or to send something to a native Metamask address before giving permissions to the account when you connect to a new type of DeFi platform. Then also do not keep anything in your Metamask addresses that are not in your Ledger.

Never share your secret phrase is such an important and obvious one that I do not believe that it still needs to be told. I have seen people who shared it, knowing that there was a HUGE risk of getting hacked, and they still did it because they trusted a stranger. This is not funny at all, this is very sad, think about it.

There are people out there, who will talk with some stranger, no idea who that stranger is, and end up believe them enough to give them their secret phrases, how stupid could you be? The other parts are not too bad neither, they are good, but the secret phrase is just beyond my understanding, you know you are giving away your money, and yet you are still doing it because you trusted a stranger? How?

After many years of using and experiencing many wallets on many other platforms, Metamask is one of my favorites in this space. Honestly, I find it very secure and have not had any serious problems with it. Perhaps user behavior will give you valuable skills to choose what is right for you. Currently, there are too many wallets that support users, which is an advantage when we have more good choices in this space, like TrustWallet C98 Math....

I think don't any effect with how strong password do you use on metamask because every one could log in and access to your wallet if got phrase code. I think better for safety use metamask or connect metamask access trough ledger hard ware wallet, I have active use metamask because easy how to upgrade network and I trade and collected some coin from Polygon, BSC, ETH and ATOM coin kinds and using Metamask looks friendly when change network kinds between BSC or ETH, with new network have easy connecting trough with Metamask exactly with chrome add on Metamask.

I really like Metamask because it is very easy to use, simple, lightweight, convenient.
it's just that it is prone to getting attacks through networks or dapps. Metamask wallets
usually cannot be used sustainably, because so many token dusting or phishing websites are ready
to destroy your assets immediately. I always change my wallet regularly. If I start to enter tokens
that I don't recognize, I will immediately move them to a new wallet for all my assets and never store a lot of assets here.

Yes, I use Metamask to swap tokens, because connecting with swap platforms is easy. Apart from that, I also use TrustWallet and ViaWallet to hold my coins long term. The advantages of TrustWallet and ViaWallet are that you can stake while holding coins for the long term.

1. Of course never share your secret phrase, once you exposed your secret phrase your wallet is not safe anymore.
2. Download Metamask only from the official site, what about the newbie? how to Identify the Official website?
3. Having a strong password is not enough. because everyone can log in using secretphrase.
4. Of course, never connect your wallet to different sites
5. is ok
6. I don't log out of my metamask
7. Agree, we must use a different wallet, especially when joining Airdrop, personal wallet is separate from your airdrop wallet.
8. Switching off DM's in discord is not enough, just never click or log in to any links that provided from strangers.

3) Use a strong password for your wallet
Passwords don't really affect the security of wallets like Metamask/ they can be changed at any time if the phrase is owned by someone.

The most dangerous thing for a wallet user with a key phrase is to use that phrase on another platform. If we use the phrase on the fising site, of course it will be stored in their database.
The metamask wallet/metamask phrase can also be used on a TrustWallet with the same wallet address.

Metamask is indeed very unique, looks simple but can contain many networks.
At first I only liked wallets like trustwallet and safepal.
But, after seeing that metamask can be modified into many networks via RPC it actually looks better than the others.
Talking about security, it seems that metamask is more vulnerable to attack than wallets like
dapps because it's easy for us to connect our wallet to various dapps that we don't even know whether it's dangerous or not.
I only keep a few assets in metamask, if that means there is a bigger balance I feel more secure in the trustwallet.

MetaMask security tips.
I added 1 tip,
when The Fox didn't follow your mouse cursor, then you must be careful that is phishing

in fact I still prefer trust wallet over metamask, it's not an open source wallet and it's now more like a centralised wallet.
Metamask is the first appear wallet for Ethereum and many blockchains, and open source too. Many people use that wallet and are more trusted than Trust Wallet you recommended.

Since when did Metamask become a closed source? Their software is under a different license which means it cannot be used or copied freely but it can still be reviewed openly.

You should probably doubt the claim of Trust Wallet as open source. It's iOs version seems open but android is not.

Just don't connect your metamask to any random websites.

I think those people that have been hacked, this is the root cause why they're surprised as how they've been hacked. Aside from knowing their phrases, this gives the idea that the random website that an individual connects could be the culprit for hacking.

So, don't be too hyper that you'll just randomly connect.

1) Never share your secret phrase

This one alone would be enough because it would include on being that careful from phishing attempts and other possible exploit of those keys if you are really that mindful
about the security of your assets. Just be having some common sense on what you are currently dealing with and never ever exposed the keys or phrases no matter what.
Dont deal into something fishy and dont ever store up your keys online or cloud or simply make it on airgapped or something.
