Really glad that this happened. Seems.to be working correctly and what not. Segwit has a huge 1mil bounty and i doubt it is hackable. Good job to all involved.

My opinion is that when segwit is activated it will be used for a pump - to make a quick killing, as you said.

I don't think anyone is going to actually use the lightning network.

maybe it'll be another openbazaar. lots of opening interest and then not alot.

and litecoin doesn't need a lightning network, it's cheap and fast enough as it is. however it's gonna answer a bunch of questions people have about it and that's the important thing.

If the ability to complete large number of transactions is never needed cryptocurrency will have failed. It will slowly dwindle in market capitalization, exchanges will close and it will just be a niche business.

LTC developers already working with Lightning Network developers in anticipation of segwit passing.

thanks for the share, i just saw this and came to share this same thing here.
Charlie Lee has been really hard at work for the past few weeks, always ready and always watching. he even replies to the major tweets right away, right the one he did to bw.com and convinced them to activate SegWit.

the developers are also working on the integration of Litecoin with OpenBazzar platform.

I'm looking forward to how quickly this is all going to happen. It will be interesting to watch.

The price seems to have stalled though. And the number of transactions is still low, see:

https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/litecoin-transactions.html

Only 4,539 transactions in the last 24 hours. It is worth developers working on the lightning network on a coin that hardly anyone uses?

This is something ive been wondering about myself for a while.
so it gets segwit and lightening, then what? Is it going to be used.
Or is it just something to make a quick killing on.
Ive read on some other thread that segwit and lightening on litecoin.
Is a test run of sorts for bitcoin (cannot find the post or the thread)
Some say bitcoin wont get either.

Just need to ensure F2Pool guy stays off the opium during the next two weeks and we'll be good to go. What until it's actually activated and news of other advancements are dropped. It will interesting!

As far as scaling, Segwit, and Litecoin... it is more of a precautionary implementation. It is better for the capacity to be there when you need it rather than waiting to implement it until after you need it.

As far as Segwit, LN, and Litecoin... it is not only about scaling. Ignoring the scaling benefits, there are a lot of other benefits:

LN:
Instant transactions
Cross-chain atomic swaps
Lower transaction fees
Reduced blockchain bloat and load
Anonymous transactions by use of onion-style routing
Sub-satoshi payments

Segwit:
Fixes malleability issues
Lighter full nodes are possible (you can opt not to download or store signatures, and leave it to the witnesses)
Lighter light nodes use less bandwidth and disk space (don't need to verify signatures)
Miners can maximize fee income and users can more reliably calculate the needed fees
Makes advanced scripting (smart contract) easier
Reduced blockchain bloat and load

This is the kind of work that keeps an altcoin alive:
  • Experimenting with new tech to deliver features that BTC doesn't have
  • Adding new ways to make the coin useful (as a payment method)
  • Having a good and strong community that propose future steps and support the altcoin
  • A developer team that is ready to implement new things ASAP
Good news indeed

Actually this is what im waiting for the good news about Litecoin. This is the altcoin Ive invested so far for a long time. Because I beleive on this coin that will pump in the market. Litecoin is one of the top in the market it will increase its price so far in the future.

Yes, Charlie Lee and the developers are working very hard to save and develop Litecoin. Litecoin was one of the most awaited and undervalued coin. People had invested in a hope to gain thinking as it will give a competition for Bitcoin but still its not even near. Hope after the Segwit users become more interested in it.

if there are any more miner mind games, and i'm sure there will be, they're gonna have their asses uasf'd into oblivion. the train has left the station no matter what they pull.

Amen. There is no turning back now. Hope segwit will in fact improve speeds and show bitcoin where it should go. Or maybe lightning will burn it to ashes. We will see.

I think this time it is almost definitely there. I mean unless f2pool turns into a pump and dump deal on this segwit issue its 80%+ now, no way they are going back.

A major coin trying LN and Segwit, this is like a dream come true for a experimantalist, definitely worth to see what will happen and how will it happen. Would mainstream get to be introduced to Litecoin from now on in order to deal with faster payments and bitcoin will need to adapt, will it not work as intended and just becomes a useless feature? We will see soon.

it's super cool that it looks like it's gonna happen. there's not any need for it right now but a whole lot will be learnt and i hope it kicks bitcoin in the ass to do something too.

and with the new turn of events it seems like we are over the Segwit activation threshold (75%) with a big difference. currently at 80.9% for last 24 hours blocks. keep this up for the next difficulty re-target period and SegWit is activated.

we have been partying for a while now. specially when price was 0.004BTC and went up to 0.011BTC. these are after-party hangovers before the next party of the next day starts Grin

I sold all my LTC and don't plan on re-entering because I think it is a manipulated clusterfuck.
