This may sound quite embarrassing but I will mention it here. The only icons I knew when I first signed up on the forum was the small yellow icon which appeared on everything thread I had commented on. While the second icon was locked topic. This is because a lot of the topics I created then were locked after a couple of days and some weren't. It wasn't until after I have attained the senior member rank that I got to know more about the other because I slowed down and started paying attention to more details on the forum.

Anyways, well done OP for making me remember this. If you are a newbie reading this, I hope you find it helpful.

He needs to add / change much more (removing the first column by adding an empty td, copy his separated tables all into one table, create some spaces by using ____ and of course re-sizing images.
I've done it here already, so OP might just copy it.  Smiley

You are a saving grace, I was searching for means to enlarge the image but you made it more easier. I have edited it the way you suggested and it is now okay. Thank you.
This part is one of the part i spent enough time on in this thread because it covers the area I am having issues for a while now and that has to led me to avoid posting the image here in the forum, but for the thread grace I have learned how to resize images and with this info, I can post images that are appealing to members views.
Thank you ops for the update but just as I said earlier there is still a need to reduce the text and make the explanations easier to understand.

When I first joined the forum, I saw those icons and had no idea what they represented, so I just ignored them. But as I learned more about the forum, I became more familiar with the icon that represented where you'd previously posted; it always has a distinct look from others, which I usually notice. That's when I realized what the icon meant. I now fully understand what they all represent after reading your excellent post. This is a nice post, and I applaud your efforts in putting it together. This will benefit not only new members, but also other members who are unaware what the icons beside the title of a post usually represent.

You'll be pleasantly surprised to discover that this post of quick icons is helpful to many forum members not only to newbies. I believe that even though many people have seen the symbols, they haven't used them since they don't appear to understand what they imply or how to apply them. You did a good job of bringing this thread up so that forum members who are unfamiliar with the forum icons can take note of it.

I knew about the pinned topics, polls, and locked topics but I had no idea about the rest you mentioned. I also know about the other icons you have at the top of the page when you type a post. I guess I wouldn't have known that too if I didn't use a PC.  This was really helpful, thanks.

Not all the newbies take notice of this informations given concerning the threads icons and their meaning, even some members being on the forum for a while might not be conscious of such icons or know the meaning behind each of them, i will like to advise every newbies to always take notice of the pinned threads especially before posting on a particular board, this will help them to be aware of things expected from them on the board and the ones not.

Nice thread OP, neat and slick, I don't have a lot to say but this will help the lazy asses on here that don't like expanding their knowledge about the forum than creating posts every day, this forum is packed with many useful sections and features that can benefit how we write and construct topics and comments, for example not everyone knows what these tools are capable of..

You won't know unless you spend your time and learn about what they can do.

I don’t often notice these icons and the few times I noticed i was not really concerned about it’s purpose i just assume since i use a mobile phone it’s of no use for me and since i couldn’t tap on it i just concluded it’s there for those who use computers to log in to the forum. This is nice OP because today i have learned something new and I think other people will learn from this as well and not just newbies. I am embarrassed that with all my time here on this forum i am only learning about this today.

Remember, there's a hidden BBCode that you can use in this forum where you can't find it on help page, I don't know the reason why the administrator hide or not show this though. The best is exploring the forum and try to learn about BBCode by yourself, you can create a new thread in archival for practice.

Personally, if you don't understand about BBCode that's fine, let's say you're create a thread in a wrong section or don't know how to lock topic, someone who have reported your post will be fixed by moderators if they think the reporter is right.

Good thread you put together. I noticed this at the bottom page when I open any board, but it's possible many users have missed it so far. Locked and sticky threads seem easy enough to explain, but some of the others might not be too familiar.

"Locked Topics: Threads can be closed for a variety of reasons, depending on the OP"
This can also depend on the moderators who can lock a thread if it is running into a spam mega thread and the OP might have forgotten to monitor their thread.

that saves a lot of time thank you very much kind sir. honestly as most users here in this forum, nobody would bother taking their time to read the help button above. as what most veteran members here would say "some are just lazy enough not to read those things" even I admitted that I belong to those lazy people. all i care was as long as i followed all the rules without violating one and not just randomly ask questions, instead try to explore and learn it yourself. that was how i learn about the basics.

i'd love to give you merit but sadly i don't have any smerits right now. this should really be helpful to users such as those who are using phones since you cannot toggle the cursor unlike when you are using desktop or laptop. i have learned about this through exploring here that toggling it to an icon would reveal the purpose of that icon or the name as suggest. at first i didn't even know what's the usage of those icons when you are trying to reply on a post except for the emoji ahahah

i know that there are several users here who are also using mobile aside from it is handy it is also affordable unlike PC.

I think you should decrease the size of the description of each Icon you attached and make the photos of the icon much bigger, cause honestly when you are using mobile browser I didnt see the images unless I zoom in more to see it actual. Just a suggestion to make your post more presentable.
You used a wrong word. It should be increase, not decrease.
I believe, cryptoaddictchie meant decreasing size of the description and making the pictures bigger.

I felt the same like you as I can not see attached images clearly. They are too small but OP can easily adjust it with width option for images in bbcode format.
Code:
[img width=100 or 500 or bigger]bbcode link[/img]
Just increasing size won't work, as OP has embedded his pictures in separated tables, which are not displaying correctly because Bitcointalk's forum software has a bug of displaying tables properly.

Some types of topic icon in OP and I think Sticky thread is most important because they contains basics and most important guides for forum users especially newbies.

[Bitcointalk sticky threads] Newbies - read before starting.

Even though I am no longer a newbie, i still pick interested in this thread because sounds very necessary and helpful to all members of this forum.
But the only correction you need to make is in the size of the image also try to make your explanation of the sign short and direct to the point instead of writing a large wall of text.

It would be a great post if only you could increase the image size. These icons are tough to see, and I am using a PC right now, so I can't tell how it looks on a mobile. OP you probably posted this from your mobile.

Kindly edit the post and make the images bigger so that your effort will be paid off.

Even though I'm using mobile but I also can't see the picture because the forum site is not yet responsive, so like the suggestion above that you should increase the height and width of the image so that the picture can be seen clearly for all mobile devices and PCs, but the OP's discussion is very good and more knowledge shared for beginners.
