Well, In my opinion. This tactics is still a way of begging since you were telling everyone that those certain posts deserves a merit point even if that is not for you. On the other hand I would also agree on pharmacist point that it is also possible that one of those might be the real owner of OP's account.

This isn't begging, and I don't really see anything necessarily wrong with it EXCEPT the first thing that came to mind was that there could be an alt of OP sprinkled among the quoted posts.  I recognize the first 4 members but haven't heard of the others.  It'd be a pretty sneaky trick to start up a thread with "Hey guys, plz merit these great posts!" and list some good posts from fairly established members, with the alt account somewhere in the mix.  I'm not saying this is the case, but you can see the danger in threads like this when intentions aren't pure.

As I stated in another thread (and it's probably common knowledge here anyway), anything people can abuse here, they will.  Idiots are so desperate to rank up so that they can boost their forum earnings that they'll do anything they can to get merits.  I have no doubt they sit up at night thinking of clever ways to trick people into handing them over.

If you want to beg for merit on behalf of others, you can apply on merit services that someone willing to give merit for quality post. Don't make a post and begging "PLEASE". Quality post will get merit all the time, not at the moment, it will be merited day by day when someone read it.

I see its only a tips to get more followers for twitter bounty campaign, and it seem for newbie and Jr. Member, so what do you expect ? It isn't really contribution post for forum by knowledge or information. Its only for people to join twitter bounty campaign.

I have read time and time again, do not ask for merit

Don't even hint at it, if you do a quality post and someone with merit sees it and thinks you deserve it, it will happen. Otherwise forget about it.

Merit should not be something you are actively trying to get, its more of a passive accumulation.

They don't like it when you beg, even perhaps when you are begging on behalf of others.

But I like your post and it's a great idea. People should collect merit worth posts and add them to this thread because someone should call them out. So what if you don't have merit points to give. That system doesn't work (as your post clearly demonstrates). Perhaps they need some sort of nomination process so older accounts can have some help. These are just people who didn't used to have to be involved at all in rankings and are now now for some reason expected to be rank granters of sorts and judges of post quality. Sucks for them. Who says that (1) want that role or (2) are good at it?

I like your post. I would give you merit for it, but I barley have any. But again, be aware...they are pretty touchy about merit and don't like people making suggestions like yours - from what I've seen.

And as a side, the best way to get merit seems to be to praise the merit system, not criticize it.
