sounds like interesting, this giveaway will running from now and the xbox will sended to the luky winner in december right?

i have stated several times, i will pay for shipping. i doubt very much this will change cause it goes against my business model of "Something for Nothing." i want my prizes to be completely free. the only thing that might complicate this is really high international shipping costs. if it's like an additional $20-50 i will cover it. if it's like $100-200, that might be an issue. it all depends on my revenue and if i can write it off as a business expense. if my revenue stream can support it i will cover it. if not i simply will not ship to certain countries until the business is making enough to absorb the expense. however this is the very last option cause i want to keep this available to everybody.

also, i have been having very long conversations with family and some really good points have come up. this is going to be alot more complicated than i originally thought. i am still determined to see this through. but it's become clear that i can't accomplish something like this myself. regardless of how awesome my idea or prize is, it's the followers who are going to make this idea succeed. and i am officially asking you guys to help make this happen. talking with others has made me realize that other people will have drastically different thoughts and feelings about something even if it is as awesome as something for nothing. i need to hear what you guys are thinking. even if it's critical. i need to know what you guys want this to be. how the winner will be decided. i need to know what will make you excited about this. i want to hear if you think i am completely full of shit or won't follow through. i want to know if you are willing to follow me on social media. if you will share with friends. basically, i need your input to structure this in a way that makes you want to be a part of it.

it's also become clear that i can't wait to start building my social media presence. i need to start working on that now. tomorrow i am going to start creating the accounts. they will be lacking any kind of content, but the accounts will exist and i can start farming interest. if you guys want to support this, start following and subscribing. i will start working on content as soon as i am able to.

He said that he might even consider paying the fee. However, I do not agree with this as shipping could be even over $150-200 depending on who won and where they live.
What else might be of some concern for people outside of the US is importing costs. Maybe if he labels it as a gift, but I'm not sure if they would dismiss it even then. I've had some differentiating situations with them, so I'm not really sure what to make of this.

But who will pay the shipping fee?

I would love to win a console, but I don't want to pay a fee, especially the fee is expensive.

trust me, i am thinking about it long and hard. but no matter what i say or do i believe it all comes down to a hope, a dream, a plan, and a roll of the dice. no matter what business i get involved in there will always be costs involved and most business's are unprofitable for the first few years. so financially speaking in some ways it's just like any other business. the big question is can i hang on long enough to make a profit. you guys are the first public group i have mentioned this to. i really need to start gathering some data. but i don't exactly want the structure of my data collection to be in this thread. not sure how i'm going to do it yet but i will start conducting micro experiments and asking basic questions soon to see what what kind of response i get.

Waiting is absolutely no problem for me if it means I stand a chance to win something for free + gifts (potential  ) around Christmas always feel more special I'll be sure to check on this thread from time to time to see how things evolve. I do however think that you should start your social media campaign not too late just so you can gather a decent crowd. I'll happily retweet your messages to my ~300 followers

i would like to comment further on this. i understand what you are saying. to be honest, i don't know what the fuck i'm doing and i will probably stick my foot in my mouth several times. i'm just a man with an idea and i'm running with it. things will probably change several times over the coarse of this little adventure. but i would also like to mention that people came to this thread expecting a single xbox to be given away. at this point it appears that much more is being given away. today i laid out exactly what i want to give away every month for the first year so i can see how much this is going to cost me. the total retail value of the items i plan to give away over my first year is well over $6000. i plan to give away really good shit. you guys may have to wait a bit for that xbox. but good things come to those who wait and in the end i am offering alot more than just an xbox.

i also have an update to my "pass" idea. when people pass on an item they don't want or need they will be put on the pass list. when the next person passes on an item, i will go down the pass list in order and those people will have the option to accept the prize that was passed on. this accomplishes a few things. most people who win probably won't pass on an item they don't want or need. they will just take it and sell it. the pass list gives people an incentive to pass because they are no longer in the position of passing on the prize and getting nothing in return. they now have the opportunity to choose what prize they want to accept. this also keeps people interested and trying to win prizes they may not want cause they can get something else that appeals to them.

after more consideration, i will not have items shipped directly from newegg. there are several reasons for this. mainly costs but i also want to have the prizes in hand so i can make a video and show people what is up for grabs and i have it in my possession.
