Remember the target created by the faith and the hope of trader on market, after breakout resistance line at $3,000 (the target of Bitcoin in early this year), I can't believe the price of Bitcoin can continue pass many resistance price until today, so everything is possible happening Grin

Exactly and that is why the speculators which is everyone of us will still want the price to continue rising and the bold wont even wait till it gets to $5000. The moment it reaches say $4800+, the next category of threads you see here will be "Bitcoin to the moon, $6000 is happening soon". In short, we are all ruled by our greed and nothing else. Someone who bought at $1000 wont still sell  at $5000 because of the guilt if it increases to $7000.

5k will have a massive sell off but it won't be until 5100-5300 if it follows the previous huge moves in the past. I'll try to sell right at the top and hope for a huge correction just after I do!

Even with 5k a lot of speculators will even start coming in with the believe that for it to reach this level of 5k then its going higher which is what will continue to happen in the crypto world and I don't see that stopping anytime soon, The time to sell will be decided on an individual basis and most times based on needs because I don't think I will sell my entire portfolio when I really need just $100 dollars to meet my need at the moment.

Users around the forum speculate that there is massive growth gonna happen by the upcoming days. Based on the same many users have stated that they have set their own targets and will be selling when the particular price is reached. As I was new I don't have any holding and trying to start earning.

There was a  pump happened just this week making the price climb up from $3000 to $4000, that is almost $1500 in just a week. I can't decide when to sell some of my coins because I am thinking that it may pump more and I will be regretting the fact that I did sell when it will be having a pump.
That's also concerned me what happen last week is just a glimpse of more possible jumped to happen overtime bitcoin can be stronger more maybe after few months and I'm planning to sell some of my bitcoin when it touches 5500$ then wait for some correction to happen again to place my entry.

This is a question for speculators, not hodlers.
Hodlers never sell!!!

Speculators - what is your selling price? When will you take profits in this price spike, if you haven't already?

I think the price is rising much faster than many think, and will easily be over 5k by Friday.
My guess is 8k is the peak, before a significant correction (perhaps taking it down as far as 2k, based on past volatility).
So by that reasoning, and given the severe volatility likely at the peak, I reckon sell at 6k in this price spike.

What do others think?

There will be No. limit for the bitcoin's price to increase. I think that i must sell some of my bitcoin portfolio in September to facing the next hardfork as far as i know regarding the segwit 2x

That was my point.
is that september or novemeber? i think holding while price still increasing but after some correction maybe selling will be in need 6k$ would be a good deal
as for a short goal if i needed to cash some of my btc but if i can still hold i will do that i want to see more increase before end of this year.
$6000 is a good deal but how can you so sure that bitcoin price will hit that? If that is possible this year I will also want to waitbl for that price. If only I have more cash lately, maybe I have huge amount of bitcoin right now, last time I am always cash out my bitcoin but I think this is the right time to hold it.

Selling a large sum at 5k, a little over 6k in CAD for me. The rest is saved for the years to come  Roll Eyes
I'm holding since last year and I already sold some of my btc. But actually my goal is atleast 10k$ would be fine thats why I'm still holding my remaining btc.
to me i think this is one of the most difficult decision to take, i think most of the people do not get good profit from bitcoin because the are not good decision taker. for most  of the time even they have a good opportunity to buy bitcoin or sell it and book the profit but they missed the opportunity because of low decision taking power.

I still hold the bitcoin and have not sell it yet but I will sell if I think this increase is the peak, I'm still waiting up to $4500 if the movement looks good, maybe I will still take it any longer.

You are here talking about 5K. Bro soon it will cross 6000 USD because as the market going to break records in these days bitcoin is unstoppable so i would like to say that we should go ahead for holding bitcoin because we will see sooner the prices will rise to 7K to 8K in the next month so don't go for altcoin as compare to bitcoin in these days.

Post is a bit outdated. All the speculators sold their bitcoins for 4400 dollars and bought for $ 4,000. We have seen how after reaching 4400 dollars the price plummeted. This means that everyone sold their coins. Now the price rises. Already 4100 dollars. It then began buying coins. Soon we will see a price higher than $ 4,500.

I already secured some profits just over the $4000 level, and I am looking to secure another part of my profits somewhere in the range of $4900-$5000 (assuming we happen to go up that far). Considering that the activation of SegWit is what's driving the price up largely, I expect a decent correction after the activation. In best case scenario, people will be able to buy back at very close to the $3000 level. That's what I consider to be a very generous opportunity to increase the number of coins that I have, before the market starts to go up again.

Good, if you can keep your rules when hold your Bitcoin, your target will reach soon. But, don't try set very high target as $100,000 in short time, because the marketcap of Bitcoin at now not like in last year Grin

If you think $8K is the peak, than why sell at $6k? as you will lose another $2K, huge amount to miss. At least you should sell maybe around $7800.
Your words mean, you are not sure whether bitcoin could reach $8K before it get corrected, I am not either.
My best prediction is bitcoin will continue to rise after segwit be activated, and keep going to reach more than $5k or $6K.
I guess, this rally will stop on November when segwit2x hard fork or chain split will happen, that's the time when people start to withdraw their funds to save it, before buy back maybe at $2200 but I am not sure if it can be less than $2K.

Segwit2x hard fork will definitely be a showstopper, if the rally even keeps going until then. I also assume that BTC will not get much lower than 2k, if even that. However I doubt that BTC can go much past 5k -- this time. But I'll happily be proven wrong.

I would not consider myself to be a speculator.
But is it wrong of me not to have a selling  price, but more a selling date?
I have looked up a few dates where I might consider selling coins if it's necessary.
Of course, if I look at the current price increase, it would be foolish not to react on it.
Maybe I have to reschedule my timetable.

Goldman Sachs seem to be saying peak at 5k then halve. But then what do they know?

My guess is liquidity is much better shortly before the peak, so that it is easier to get money out of exchanges then.

I was wondering, if a 'whale' decided to sell 1,000 coins now and get the money out, how easy would that actually be in practice?
I understand Bitfinex have a 50k withdrawal limit.
In addition, is there real liquidity (ie, actual new dollar money entering the exchange) to allow for this size of exit?

Perhaps in reality the only way a whale could exit at the top of a price spike would be to slowly exit as the price rose, mopping up the new money entering the system.
