With the Golan you mean the SP50?

I search in the game and only find this one:

http://www.spondoolies-tech.com/products/sp50

110 TH/s ± 10% will be a monster. can't imagine how much it will cost.

Yes this thread was made before SP50 information release was mad.  We still don't know a lot about the SP50, just initial stats and picture.

So there is still a lot of speculation that can happen.  The speculation of high cost is very likely though.

Yes well, in term of modification that i can do, there's stripping the 240v from the electric heating and i guess that will also somehow lower the overall amp usage(?).

Regardless it would let me use some yummy PSU. But i know and understand that i'm inherently limited since the continuous load limit would be 100A and i need headroom if i want to use the oven without resetting the breaker in the electric room in which i have no access to.
I don't use a whole lot of electricity outside of mining, but i still need the hot water tank, the fridge, oven and A/C in summer.

Have you looked at electric heater breaker?  I would be surprised if it is 240 in a apartment.  I would guess you have cenrtral heat/air in apartment. But i could be wrong.  Assuming you have washer/dryer then decent chance of 240.  And hot water might be but I would not touch it as any leak would be horrible if cord for miners got it.

With having no access to electric breaker you really won't know a lot about setup. And if you experiment trying to find out the land lord will not be happy if your tripping breakers a lot.

I do have access to my outlets's breakers, but the panel itself does not have a main breaker. So if i overload the 125A for the complete panel, the breaker switch for that is not in my apartment.

For heating, i have 2 * double 20a 120/240v breakers. I was told that was most likely on 240v. I'm more wondering what i will get in my next apartment. Since i don't absolutely need to go through the trouble at the moment. I'm close to 10kW and i don't really want to go any higher since the board says 125A limit.

If switching to 240 would lower my amp usage by half, that would be niice though. If its as simple as to bolt the heating's wire in an outlet box and then plug a 240v psu in, then it could be doable to easily replace it back without it being noticed when i need to give back the apartment.

If it wasnt noisy and take 110-120v, because i believe the PSU are integrated? Then i still could not even fit a single one at home at full power, which is plain insane. I'd have to downvolt/clock him to a consumption of 7200-9000w and that would take pretty much my whole electricity grid's capacity.

If its 240v only, then maybe i could fit it, if i take the 240v from my heating. But i'm not sure how the 120vs240 amp capacity is calculated.

The electric board says 125A 120/240v so would 60A of 120v count the same as 60A of 240 toward the limit of the board?

You would want 240 with "2 x 1600 W - Drawing 2 x 1750 W" on sp30 series.  If your looking at the bigger machine a lot at this point require 240.   If your a serious "hobby miner" I suggest having it.   I didn't till I started my mining area instead of having miners all over house.

But you will really really like 240 after using it.  Just nice to run less cable and a lot of power not to mention you can use some nice server PSU's on other gear.

I do want it, but i'm supposed to move to another apartment and i'd rather not having to go it through twice. Also the owner of the apartment is a corp and i'd rather not deal with them if they notice i modified the electricity system.

I'd be more interested in knowing if, when i move, i'll be able to upgrade the power box or something to have a higher capacity, or if the current is limited on another level due to it being just an apartment.

There is a very slim chance of you actually being able to modify an apartment.  You really need to own to do the amount of modification needed.  And most apartments will nit have the power for a sizable hobby mine.   My personaly hobby mine has 100 amp just for it.  Then house has 200 more amp that I could put some in it if i feel like it.

With owning vs renting I can do pretty much anything as long as its to code.  Which luckily I'm living on a real farm where they are use to lots of electricity and there are not a ton of codes used.

The did skip SP40 so there are hopes of a hobby miner to come

are zero, they already announced they aren't planning to do ANY more "home miners".

I know my chances are slim.  As they likely will not build smaller unit's again.   Just a lot more money in industrial size gear I understand that.

My hope with SP40 is they make one that would be ok for "Hobby Miners" and still big data center.  Think more the SP35 size so one built for racks.   It would not work for home miners just those with a bigger what I call "hobby mining" area.

But again I am not holding my breath.  I realize like SP gear will stay big.

I never was able to find the source, but a user said that SP did an actual announcement saying they would not make any more small form miners. Basically it said that they were abandoning the home miner scene.

If someone has this source, it would be nice to have, good to know for sure.

But i hope they change their mind, we kind of really need competition to rise against Bitmain. Otherwise we'll get milked by the Chinese.

Yes this is true they said this.  But If you read it again I think you missed I'm not talking 110/120 home miners.  I'm talking about a miner that fit's is server rack vs the SP50 monster.

So i say "hobby miner" / professional data center model I would love in SP40 series.  So it would be made for data centers that use racks but not a home miner, but a hobby miner with proper setup could run to.

Again it is a small possibility chances are it will not happen.

Oh i see, my bad. Well a rack miner that has fan control could be really great for home miner in Canada. Just open the window and the miner will be cool and quiet. For the home miner, its more about being in a bite-sized unit that can be plugged in without much problem.

The SP50 is just a monster you'll be chugging around with a crane or something. So i was picturing the SP40 as more home-miner friendly. Like the SP20.

If they do my dream it will be more like the SP30/SP35.  They were really meant for data centers but some used them in hobby setups.   So my dream is they do a upgraded version built for data centers but allow hobby miners to buy.

That SP50 is just going to be a beast with electricity.  You would have to have a data center for it to work for you.   I am impressed if it does match spec they have released.

Without even thinking about it...

7000gh = 7th @ 3500w = 0.5w per gh...

It doesn't even matter what price this is unless its free & u have free electricity

This machine is not worth any money when the S7 is 0.25w per gh...

Buy 2 and have 10th @ 0.25w & kill the spoondoolies machine..

Here is what they have announced SP50 - http://www.spondoolies-tech.com/products/sp50

The did skip SP40 so there are hopes of a hobby miner to come, but no one can say if it will happen or not.  If it does though it likely will be around 0.15W/GH/s like the SP50.   So a decent amount below the .25 even.

I really like Spondoolies. I loved the SP20, and would probably buy an SP3x if I could find one for a reasonable price.

But if they've got something that competes with new Bitmain S5+, they better release it soon...

Well, time will show....  but this would still be a home miner, wouldn't it? I mean: A loud one, but still....
