It is a measure of a true supporter. You are cheering your favorite club no matter how good they are doing. And when you finally lift that silverware after waiting for 30 years, it gets so much sweater.

I can sort of relate in my local Croatian league. I am supporting my home club Rijeka, but Dinamo is the one lifting trophy every year. Then it was so much better when we finally took first spot in 2017. after Dinamo won 11 times in the row. That is only year Dinamo has not been the champion in the last 20 years. That being said I am not "die hard" type of supporter and I have no problem cheering Dinamo to do well in Europe but my heart is reserved for Rijeka in our local league.

Couldn't agree more. It does feel so so much sweeter after years of bitterness;)

I will always remember you and Rijeka, and I definitely can find the similarity with me and my local state league, which sadly, will probably never achieve anything in my lifetime. They never won the national league, they came second several times, but we have once won the national cup in my lifetime, the coach swore he would jump off a bridge into a river (we have crocodiles in our river haha) and when he did like the whole city jumped in too that was a grand memory.

I also attended a last final in 1999 (the last match in a stadium before they destroyed it) and that was also the last years we played with 2 other small countries who had Brazilian and European imports and we were 100% local team, short and tiny and smaller than the others -- we lost 1-2 but that was still one of my biggest memories.

Today we are now twice defunct, rebuilt each time because of lack of funds and corruption (and a stupid weed scandal that jailed the entire team I supported haha). Bottom of the last league so we can't even get relegated anymore.

But like you, I support the national team and the "super" team in AFC, even though never on a local rivalry.

I became a Chelsea fan in 2003 that was before Abramovic bought the club in 2004 I was never a glory hunter like most Arsenal fans who swap to Manchester City looking for green pastures I was a die-hard Chelsea fan when we had nothing, today Chelsea is the most decorated London club.

We may as well win double this season with the FA cup and champions league still in sight who knows. I'm looking forward to putting a bet on in.

No!!! I can not fan a club who waited 30 years to win their first ever EPL title, the Liverpool and Manutd rivalry was gone for about 2 decades it was all Chelsea vs Manutd thing, both clubs were the ones fighting for the EPL title before Man City joined the party. Liverpool woke up 3 years ago. I support one the best club in London... Chelsea.
Indeed, it takes some character to be a supporter of a club starved of so much success. If you can wait your entire life and finish 2nd many times, or if you can survive even Spurs' heartache of being second best and never taste first, then you are a true blood, I say. Being a Red is not for the faint-hearted!

All four selections hit on this week's multi magic Shocked and I completely forgot about it but congrats to those who got in to Steve's weekly multi.  Cheesy

I didn't forget at all. Was happy to get this one in, never miss a week as far as I recall. A very good 5.5 return and a pretty solid selection in the end to put in the London clubs who had in all fairness, very easy wins.

Also got pretty close to the f1 4-3 promo hitting 2/4 but no cigar though, I got the total points and winner correctly then guessed wrong on the winning margin and fastest lap time.  Tongue

I think if you're a Liverpool supporter, then you are by default set up to hate United.

Utd did have quite good luck with Europa and should really not have had such an easy time against Roma.
Proudly sponsored by Cavani and Bruno. I can't believe I'm beginning to hate one of my favourite striker Cavani because he plays for United  Grin

@arallmuus @icopress Yep, Europa is United's to lose. I'm betting on whoever progresses on the other end of course. Can't stand United winning... sorry Red Devils.
I thought I was the only one who hate man utd with everything I've got. They've proceeded from the semi-final to the final all thanks to Roma Inconsistency, I'd rather see Villareal clinch the title than watching Manutd lifting it and I wouldn't want them to play Arsenal in the Final either, they are the worse club in London, they've been 10th in the league since Michael el faraday died from electric shock. Pathetic club.

I think if you're a Liverpool supporter, then you are by default set up to hate United. Fairplay to them for knocking us off our perch in the 1990s but let me assure you, seeing them lift trophies is every bit as painful as not winning one ourselves. And while it's nice to rub it in the faces of our Merseyside rivals when we lift trophies, it's personally sweeter for me to see the rubbish coming out of United fans when we win =D

I know it's all good fun and banter in the end but where I come from, you can almost kind of stereotype the person from the team they support -- and I grew up in the era of United dominance, from the Treble era... and of course Arsenal, and then later Chelsea and City, Galacticos etc. Liverpool weren't as "vogue" but I agree. This season, Utd did have quite good luck with Europa and should really not have had such an easy time against Roma.

Leeds have one of the dramatical and passionate fans in the world they had one of the deadliest rivalries with Chelsea in the 90s, the matches between these two clubs never end well. . yeah Watford was the first but yeah I only suggested a perfect replacement should their contract ends next season.

Indeed. Something about English clubs in any case, from my general observation, that tends to appeal a bit more to us in the Commonwealth. Perhaps it's because football is as big here as it is there. Perhaps it's just the common language that meant we used to get free FA cup live shows on regular tv in late 80s til 90s, until Sky took over everything haha...

But of course if it ends up being Leeds, I'll be wanting those jerseys just as bad =D

Either I don’t understand something, or you had several free bets .. Since I see one bet with a very hardcore odds and I see that your last choice was pretty good (victory of Arsenal and Manchester).

Nah its only one freebet but it needs to be settled by 2nd May. I thought yesterday was 1st May so I only pick two matches from Europa League on the following days because I want it to be settled as soon as possible. Thats why I only include in two matches on my betslip and yeah the odds was only 4x.

BTway, when I said that you will have the opportunity to make a bet again, I meant the victory of Roma, since I was betting on their victory. I wrote this message after the first half, when Roma had already scored two goals ... lol, but I couldn’t have predicted that Manchester would score 5 goals in the next 40 minutes.

I had faith in Manchester United for sure because the match was in Old Trafford. I wasnt really expecting it to be 6-2 as well but it happened lol. Manchester United will win the Europa League for sure  Tongue

Anyway there is another new 4-3 promo for Everton vs Aston Villa

I honestly thought today is 1st of May ( was kinda in a hurry to place the bet because I just got back home lol ) and because the selection for free bet should be settled at the latest of 2nd of May, I only grab the two biggest matches for tonight and confirmed it lol. Looking back, I probably would have included Leicester, Chelsea and manchester City in the betslip to boost the odds  Grin

@igehhh Yeah I know Leeds is a lot more "glamourous" than the Hornets thanks to their exploits in the late 1990s. I'll always remember that boy crying when they got relegated "Leeds til I die", even watching far away across the world I remember this scene most, we all followed Leeds back then (He's of course still a fan today).

But still, Watford was the one who first shook hands with SB, surely that's special in its own right, no?

Leeds has the most history in the EPL to be known as the underdogs that never gave up.

And they were just incredible to watch, and dirty, which was kind of something of an English football thing for us watching in Asia. Man, the late 90s were something, except of course for United and Arsenal heh.

This is a thread where others can share their picks as shown and can discuss post draft selections later on today.

I'll def have a look before commenting on this thread, I'm trying to read a bit about baseball (MLB) so just want to get to grips with the format of the MLB season... but I have to really admit NFL is making me very confused. The draft in particular, I probably need to find a nice video to explain before I dive in.

@arallmuus: Nice win, nice win. Fair play, United.

Jose Mourinho sacked

Jose Mourinho got sacked this morning, he had a heated argument with Levy yesterday after he learnt that Tottenham was part of the founding clubs of the European super league. According to several reports, Mourinho refused to take the players to morning training, he is one of the managers against the supper league. Tottenham plays Manchester City on Sunday in the League cup final, what an unfortunate time to get rip of Jose.. their sack will cost the club £30m.

Yes!! Anyone thinks he could be joining Bayern Munich? There will most likely be some discussion about him at Bayern. Don't think though that he is the character Bayern Munich is searching for.
Mourinho should take a break from the coaching job for a year or two, Bundesliga  is not the kind of league he likes to play in, he likes competition and there is none in the Bundesliga, he may likely go back to Italy or French league... No official contact for now.

He does indeed take a break! He just signed a contract to work as an expert in TV. There is no club which he could be excited about at the moment. He is available though and I am curious to see what his next club will be.

Aren't any of you guys going for Roma? Come on =p

You know that I wouldnt do that. Loyal Fans of Manchester United and eventhough Sir Alex retired, I have never stopped supporting the team eventhough Manchester United's performance has been dropping alot  Cool

Bro, judging by the bet you made, I see that your enthusiasm is slowly fading away ... I thought you were a fan of hardcore odds. In any case, you shouldn't worry too much about this free bet, as if Roma wins against Manchester United you will once again have the opportunity to bet 0.15mBTC.  Roll Eyes

Lol I am an idiot for sure

Here is a rather boring documentary about them I watched late last year to get to know who they were:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjbnM1DKqNk
Here is a much better documentary film about them:
From the fans persepctive - "F*cked By Ridsdale, Found By Bielsa | We Are Leeds..."
That I watched right after to see where they got that rich history from the fans and not the corporate clowns that has been ruining it for all of us.
In 2001, Leeds United were 90 minutes from the Champions League final.

Yeah, the consolation prize is $10 worth in btc so the 0.15mbtc one other member said they received is the freebet.

Here is the next one but based on the NFL Draft - where NFL teams get to choose which players they take from the NCAA college teams last seasons roster.
So here are my selections on this 4-3-free promotion up for today:

That could be the reason why the consolation prize was lowered. I received 0.15 mbtc freebet in my account so yeah that could be it. Anyway I dont think you will be able to put your freebet in the Champions League Final because the match will need to be settled at the latest of 2nd of May. You might want to put it in the Europa league tonight

Goodluck with yours  Smiley
No much to play today so I had to combine some league games to it, looking unlikely but I'm sure I'm gonna hit it, my only worries now is Arsenal

^^ I was also able to get something out of the 4-3 promo round. Just missed out on no. of goals which i thought would be 2 but went on 3. Anyway 10$ freebet still brings me a smile. Villareal vs Arsenal looks interesting with both teams to score and Manchester United to win against Roma. Roma haven't been defensively well and could go down easily against United's attack. What do you guys think?
