Brentford vs LFC tonight, in past seasons I’d be really confident about winning but expectations have lowered due to a really bad start. The injuries are piling up & again we didn’t upgrade midfield, very frustrating. I’d shake hands on a top 4 finish right now. A win tonight would be 5 PL wins in a row, top 4 all of a sudden looks possible then.

I’m not at the game so I’ll be in front of the TV.

Come on you Reds!

Enjoy drinks boltz! I got a Monaco outright so will hope for miracles heh...

City definitely shored up their leaks with Haaland but it's not enough (sort of remindful of United barely making it past the line with Ronaldo).
Haaland is currently by far the best goalscorer in Premier League but they have other players who can score like Foden, De Bruyne and few others.
Man City scored most goals in from all other teams in Premier League, so I don't think scoring goals is big problem for them.
Challenging for them is next two matches coming in few days when they play against Chelsea in Premier League and FA Cup.

Can score is not the same as will score, though! Liverpool's probably got the same, each season we do see a lot of goals shared by players, and that does work in City's favour in the league, but not in knockout competitions like UCL.

Hope Chelski makes it interesting, my money's on them anyway heh.

Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone had a great night , had some drinks , had a lot of fun and is ready for a fresh new year 2023 that let's hope it will be more lucky for all of us haha.

Until then , we are delighted with a full Ligue 1 show game today with so many games to chose from if we want to make a quick bet. For me , Monaco - Brest might end up with a surprise or at least both teams to score. Grin

At the moment biggest problem for City is Pep. he has again started making totally illogical choices. I don't know if he is in fight with some of the players but this was 6th game in a row when Foden did not start. Foden was his best attacker in first 12 games apart from Haaland and then he does not play in the last 6 and they spill some points. In the last game when it was 1:1, Pep made his first substitutions in minute 84. You have guys like Foden/Cancelo/Alvarez and Gundogan on the bench and then you give them 5 minutes to turn the game? Totally stupid if you ask me.

Agree for Arsenal, they are playing some great football and I would actually praise Odegaard the most, he is really turning to that player everybody thought he was when he signed for Real as a kid. Saka & Martinelli have been playing almost at this level for a season or two but they needed Odegaard to step up as well and connect all that together.

Just at a NYE party, somebody has the Arsenal game on the TV. For the first time this season I’m starting to think that they might just do it. 7 point lead on City tonight if they close this game out, 3-0 Gooners as I type this. Man City just don’t look as good this season, sure they have Haaland but as a unit they just don’t look as good. Arsenal are without doubt the best team in the country atm. They don’t have the best players but they are the best team. It’s a bit like when Leicester won it, they just keep winning.

Long way to go, literally over 20 games remaining but I am starting to think Arsenal are serious, serious contenders. Man City can not afford to fall much further behind because Arsenal are giving them no joy atm.

Yeah, me too. Pretty chuffed for Arteta, and personally, really happy Saka's come through his difficult period and is enjoying his football. That lad's been my "secret envy" for a while now and he's firing Arsenal at the front even without Jesus.

City definitely shored up their leaks with Haaland but it's not enough (sort of remindful of United barely making it past the line with Ronaldo).

As you say too, the fact Gooners doing it not with a star-studded team but with just really good players who finally found their way as a unit.

Their main weakness for a long time to me has been discipline. Keep that at bay and they're in for a good, good season. Now they just need to let us win the return leg of course... but not before beating Newcastle next and Citeh in February. It's a massive gauntlet of games to 22 though... Toons, Spurs, Devils, Toffees, Bees, Citizens. If they even win half of that, it's an achievement.

Furthermore if they somehow manage to beat Arsenal and City for the title then I wouldn’t be surprised, because they have worked really hard and definitely would deserve the title but currently Arsenal has a big lead so Newcastle will be hoping that Arsenal and City continue dropping points otherwise they’ll have to settle for an champions league spot.

Newcastle almost beat City in the first meeting so they'll be confident of getting at least another point from them but yes, I'd like to see Arsenal-Newcastle first before making any serious hope on them.

They're my team to pick on for EPL win, of course knowing they will probably not even end up Top 4. This isn't even halfway through season yet so we need to see them keep using up their good form for full points first.

No way Newcastle win the PL this season imo. Their squad depth is really poor, they’re playing Chris Wood FFS Cheesy
Almiron can’t keep this form up either, surely. Wouldn’t surprise me to see Newcastle hit some bad form & fall out of the top 4. The title is a 2 horse race his season, Arsenal vs Man City.
Not that I think they will, but stranger things has happened before, so I wouldn't be shocked about it neither. Leicester won as well, and that year it was one of the weirdest wins of all time. There was a dude with 5500.0 odds or something if I am not wrong, and I always found it weird because even at the start of this year, the lowest teams had like 500x at most.

In any case, Newcastle got a takeover and paid so much money on so many players and they are doing half decently right now and I am guessing that there is a small chance they could win. I am not saying it is likely, all I am saying is that it is not impossible for such a thing to happen at the very least.

@LFC_Bitcoin while Newcastle didn’t want to spend in January transfer window, but now I feel that they’ll reconsider because even if they don’t win the title they can at least finish second or third and secure an champions league spot, hence I feel that they should buy one or two player’s to assist their coach.

Never say never  Cheesy
I am really surprised they are holding strong in third place and have only one defeat in this season.
It would be great success if they qualify for Champions League and maybe win some trophy this year, maybe FA cup or EFL cup.
West Ham is now losing from Brentford, and Liverpool from Leicester, so it doesn't look good for favorites.

Man City & Arsenal really going at each other in the race for the title. Only a 5 point gap, it really is an exciting race so far. Next games on Saturday, Man City vs Everton & Brighton vs Arsenal. You would expect both title chasers to pick up 3 points but this is the PL, anything can happen.

I’m going to Liverpool vs Leicester on Friday night, hope it isn’t too cold Smiley

It’s been a great year in the sportsbet.io community thread here. I have no doubt we’ll continue to grow & more people will become active in the thread. I’d just like to wish you all a Happy New Year. Don’t drink too much so you can’t put your bets on for 1st January though, lots of sport on to bet on Cheesy

Liverpool have come back from the World Cup break quite good. I think we will watch a match with many goals against Leicester. If it comes to your mind please share some photos from the stadium. I like it a lot when people share photos from the matches they go to.
Liverpool defense was criminal again, if Villa was just a bit better at finishing big chances they would have scored 3 or 4 goals. City was doing whatever they wanted in first half against Liverpool as well. I don't think they will keep a clean sheet against anybody. Only hope is that their attack will be able to outscore the opponents. Should make for some interesting games going forward.

I think in the same way with you. As I couldn't trust Liverpool defense completely I indicated that I thought the match would end up with many goals. Liverpool have to increase their performance to be able to qualify for the Champions League in a season that Newcastle also do well.

I can agree that Newcastle is maybe over performing but they are actually playing really good football. And you have to remember they are doing it without their most dangerous player Saint-Maximin all this time. Wilson is also often sidelined and their new acquisition Isak is also injured. So basically their second attack is having these results. I would argue that is solid bench depth, of course we can't compere them to City but I can see them finish inside top 4. Title challenge is a bit far fetched though.
With a second squad and substitution players, Newcastle United can achieve the third position and only have 2 points less than Manchester City (will be 5 if Manchester City win their match). To be frank, Newcastle United did over performed and it is hard to believe they will be able to continue it.

If we consider that logically they will become stronger when injured players are back, they can maintain a third position and complete within a first four positions. It is a logical thinking but it's not certainly because their ending will be decided by their performance, not by quality assessment on paper.

Additionally, they don't have too big differences against Tottenham (3 points), Manchester United (4 points but have 1 more match), Liverpool (8 points but have 1 more match). Top four competition would be so exciting and hot in this season but the growth of Newcastle United will make it more competitive in next seasons.

ATL.Madrid vs Elche was a heaven for those who took red cards and yellow cards as the odds were more than impressive! Shocked LaLiga today was nuts with 4 red cards being displayed in 3 games and 3 of them were in ATL.Madrid game  who had a rough one until Griezmann had a good assist and Felix scored and kinda make them game much easier for them.

Regarding Newcastle making a Leicester story ...I doubt it as Arsenal is looking locked for EPL trophy this year if somehow they won't stumble and City will grab it once again but no matter what happens , Newcastle are a strong team and everyone are a bit afraid of them , especially on home ground. Smiley

La Liga is already a nice place for red cards and if you see odds you always can find 4x or more, and with Sportsbet boost you can sometimes get 5x.

Especially that you can find red cards even in top teams makes it a really good bet to take, I like waiting for 3/4 game streaks for a team for no cards, and then take red card bet Smiley

Dont you think maybe Newcastle can make a Leicester this year Tongue ?

They seem really strong, and asides if they can fight for the first spot, if they remain in UCL spots until the end, we can see finally a storm of mega reinforcement for the next season in Newcastle, so i hope to see that because can be really good to see 7 teams being really strong in the next season. (the big 6 + Newcastle).

They are now on 1.91 odds on SB to finish in the top 4. I'd like to take the opposite part of that bet (which I can't on SB), so if anybody wants to take that bet p2p let me know.
5-10 mBTC, just for fun - I don't want to lock more cash until the end of the season.

I like this Newcastle team and they have been great since last winter - I just feel that in important games you need a lot of experience and Newcastle lacks that.

Mmmm man good idea, but i dont know if i can take this one, because im not sure about Newcastle and im more thinking like you. But lets me think a little bit more and maybe in a few weeks we can make some bet H2H like this one. (only 5mbtc because i dont have so much this time ).

Arsenal and locked a trophy in the same sentence? Being Arsenal always you have to wait until the last whistle

They don't have the worst defense in Premier League but I think their biggest problem in this season is away matches, they only have two wins from seven away matches and one was against Villa.
There are some injury concerns foe Liverpool and with next few rounds coming in just few days I don't think they can keep up winning like this.
If you want rock solid defense this season than Newcastle and Arsenal are doing great so far.
