It really goes down to 2 last matchdays to make the real difference. At this point, it ain't just about picking the players that could get you the points but, predicting what team that would advance so you dont have to get negative points on transfers just to be able to reset your team. I can tell you, its not a time for me to get any unproductive players if I need to make it to the 10 at all. Wih it was more of a maintaining of stance but, it goes down to making up some lost match days.
You guys have been pretty competitive I give you that. It ain't over yet though.

It all comes down to Croatia and Argentina. Sort of make a huge error in picking from these guys but, I hope it counts in favour though. Hope we get a fill tea reset in the finals. That would be nice.

If Portugal is to lose the 1/4 final tomorrow, i'm in the realm of taking multiple hits to field 11/15 for the semi-finals, fun...Cheesy (advantage to those who have their wildcard available, i guess).
Same here and to make things worse I was out of the house and did not manage to use all the transfers from previous MD. I wanted to make them late and take 2 France/England players depending on who passes and then the game crashed for me.

With 5 free transfers I will have 10 players, so I will either field that or make one minus transfer to field full 11. I don't think hits are needed. Not so many players I really want for these 2 games. At the moment only Giroud is a certain transfer in for me.

On second thought, i might not take any hits at all, but that depends on the outcome of the first semi-final. What worries me the most is how much rotation will occur in the two teams that will not advance to the final (3rd/4th place match).

As for the third striker spot, it's a toss-up between Alvarez and Giroud. However, Croatia's high xGC is concerning and currently tips the scales in favor of Alvarez.

Portugal was an easy pick in QF, but did not delivered
not that I am that into this fantasy, but will use my wildcard to improve chances in Semi-final matches

Brasil out is also a nightmare for many teams, but wildcard will do for that as well

who to score, expecting two goalless draws in SF
Never expected this many surprises in quarter finals. Should have kept my wildcard, but it is easy to be smart in retrospective. What were the odds of both Brazil and Portugal dropping out. I have seen a screen shot from one guy in a private league I am also playing that has 0 players in his team that are still left in the tournament.

There is also talk about some penalty for Martinez/Messi cause of throwing insults to the dutch players but I somehow doubt that FIFA would have guts to suspend Messi in semi final of his last world cup. If there is a penalty it will probably be under revision until the WC finishes.

I'm as good as dead in this one, with 4 Portugal players, 3 Brazil players, and 2 England players on my team and only 5 free transfers to make hahahah I guess I'll take another -9, just when I thought things were getting better, I left Richarlison as captain.

Can someone from the FIFA fantasy office explain why my points keep being calculated incorrectly? I had 37 points based on a simple calculation, but now I only have 14 instead of 28? Now I know why I'm not at the top of the fucking leaderboard; I've been getting half points the whole time. Grin please someone should take me back to PFL

It is good for the illusions of any national team to see Morocco among the 4 best in the world...

... Spain and now Portugal (Switzerland was a mirage... definitely), next! no problem... Cool

...what a great game from the Netherlands.(great coach Louis van Gaal)
Great game from Netherlands?...
Yes!
I made a forecast timid 3-1 in favor of Argentina, now, I was very surprised by the poor game in the attack the Netherlands, but! I don't think it was a coincidence it was raised like that, even how they attacked at the end, and the second goal, It was not that he was born organic among the players, the free kick. That all script could be a surprise for everyone but not for the coaching staff or players.

The results make great teams, above that footballing excellence, which today is opaque or gray before the effectiveness of winning, the Netherlands arrived with 19 games without losing with Louis Van Gaal as DT, and did not lose... Full Time(2x2). (what a fact that can be useful to who? hahahaha)...

Holland did the homework with Argentina, not with luck or an individual play... So yes, Holland great team against Argentina...

Congrats to our forum members from Croatia and their team for making it to the semis!

I thought Brazil beat itself more or less, they had a fair amount of good chances to put this match to bed earlier. I can't say i agree with some of Tite's decisions throughout the game. Vini Jr. and Raphinha subbed off too soon, making a late change to your defense for no apparent reason, not to mention Danilo and Sandro had to change positions on the pitch, and that's deep into extra time, you are asking for trouble. The icing on the cake was getting counter-attacked 4 on 4 in the 115 min, having so many players committed upfront with your central midfielder (Fred) pressing at the goal line...like wtf?

Don't like pre match talks from Croatian players, it is all about how best 8 is great, we already did what we had to do...Seems like prepearing the public for defeat. Would like to see a bit more of fighting spirit.

The Croatian players literally seemed to have brought their fighting spirit to the pitch, rather than let their mouth do the job for them, I was already curios about what their composure would be after that goal from Neymar, but they didn't give their hopes up and kept fighting even without having an attempt on goal until that very moment of getting the equalizer, it couldn't have come at much better time!
This result will create chaos in most fantasy squads, I am sure there is quite a lot of managers with x5 Brazilian players. Serves them right for dismissing team that places 2nd in last world cup that easily Smiley I knew we are winning the match as soon as we equalized.

For a moment I thought that we were left without a representative for our confederation, what a great game from the Netherlands.(great coach Louis van Gaal)
Great game from Netherlands? I did not watch the whole thing but from what I have seen Argentina was much better and Van Gaal come back tactic was to sub in tallest players he has and just send long balls to the box. It worked, but they haven't actually played anything impressive.

and that will be a main issue for Argentina, how to pass through Netherlands organized defense if Messi does not play his best (and it is hard to expect best from him in every match)
while Dumfries and Gakpo are obviously good choice to score one goal somehow
I don't rate Netherlands defense that high. They conceeded goals in 2 matches and let quite a lot of scoring opportunities. Even Qatar, one of the worst teams in this WC had a couple of clean chances. Team like Argentina will know how to use those opportunities.
I agree that the Netherlands' defense is not as strong as their offense, but they have the most balanced team in this tournament; it's difficult to play against a team whose wingbacks are quick and dangerous. Argentina's only strength is Messi, so it will be a difficult test. If Argentina wins this game, I doubt Croatia will be able to stop them from reaching the final. The most dangerous team has already been eliminated (Brazil), and another will be eliminated tonight (Argentina and the Netherlands). Things are beginning to soften at the front.

I guess they changed their minds and decided to go for the 4 ; it was a mind game talk to put less pressure on themselves because they entered the game as the underdog. Congratulations, man.

Just when I was having a good day FIFA decided to act funny... Got 8 points from the Craotia - Brazil game and I'm seeing -1 wtf.

I really can't draw a conclusion between Argentina and Netherland

would call it Messi vs Netherlands, since latter is a team, and former I cannot call a them, if Messi is not playing, they are a bunch of picked players

I believe for people who need to catch up you need to gamble big on one team so maybe my heart says Argentina? Everyone expects a tough game against Netherlands, but you never know like Portugal getting 2 early goals, then the other team has to chase, and then open themselves up to even more.

Argentina is a potential team so it is natural that most people will gamble on Argentina.  But there is no guarantee that Argentina will win the quarter-finals . Because the Netherlands is a very good team.  They have also huge of experience in playing football. Argentina is offering 2.20 and Netherlands 3.60.  As an Argentina supporter I will gamble for Argentina

When it comes to matches like this you indeeed just might never know, who/who not to back due to the grand effect a little margin of error of a split second can cause, who knows if Switzerland would have been more sensitive defensively knowing that they are playing against Ronaldo, arguably one of the most efficient finishers of all time, but paid a little attention to a maiden Ramos striker paid dearly for it.

I really can't draw a conclusion between Argentina and Netherland, because my biases and flawed perception in this situation might be tilted towards Argentina, so I'm likely not being very objective enough, but I'll fancy Argentina's chances here because apart from the round of 16 fixture against USA in which the Netherlands still got somewhat dominated statistically, they've pretty much struggled against every other team, even when those teams are playing highly defensively.

I've just successfully wasted my 12th man chip  Angry

Who did you have and don't tell me it was Ronaldo?  Grin Tongue

He was, I was expecting him to turn up for the grand stage as usual, but I didn't want him on my team, and I literally kept the 12th man out of play in the group stages simply because I wasn't certain about who would start or not, and everyone I was sure that I wanted were already on my team. If only I had read about his antics with the coach I might have second thought.

I guess the chip was just meant to never yield a result for me, because I was seconds away from having it on Lautaro Martinez, before I muttered "f**k it! I might not be the biggest fan of Ronaldo, but I believed this are stages he live(d) and showed up for... It would probably have all worked out well for me with a Ronaldo hattrick, if only Fernando Santos was just big enough to swallow his pride and play his biggest player, what an utter disrespect for CR7  Roll Eyes

I have the utmost respect for Cristiano Ronaldo because of his accomplishments in the past and what he has contributed to the beautiful game, but we can all agree that he is at the end of his game. His biggest asset was pace, but right now he can't even sprint for 30 seconds, and he isn't a good passer or dribbler. I don't know what kind of conflict he had with the coach, but benching him pays off handsomely. Since the squad has been performing well lately without him, every coach would want to keep doing what is helping the team.

It might have been a different tale. They could have lost or scored fewer goals with him if he had started ahead of Ramos.

I'm still all in, in for a penny,.... ? you all know the rest.

I went with an all out for Netherlands defenders in MD5, it didn't pan out too well because I didn't manage to have Daley Blind too, but I've got my Wild Card intact and I don't think I'll have a better chance than right now to use it to take a gamble, while still having my 5 transfers to put things in places should things decides to go south, again.

My thoughts ran away as I could no longer guess who would win the quarter-finals so I went with England and Holland to form my squad for this round. But I'm having a hard time choosing the captain for this tour. Maybe I'll pick Mbappe or Saka

I don't know what to do with my squad either. I might as well just reset everything and try and autopick might do better than if I picked.

Keeper has to be Croatia or Morocco, unless it's a trap performance in last 16 lol

In any case, it'll be interesting to see how everyone approaches MD5. I could see a number of ways to gain rank, ranging from extremely risky to a more balanced path to points.
