this one is really strange, one could think that Champions league is more popular than Premier league, but it seems that it isn't

on the other side, I prefer leagues to Champions league as a tournament, since Champions league is all about six rounds in group stage, and it is hard to expect to change your destiny afterwards, due to symbolic number of matches in those rounds

however, more competitors is better

English Premier League is of entirely another level. Champions League is one of the most popular leagues around the world, but globally it is unable to challenge the Premier League. Here in India, I would say that clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are hugely popular and the matches involving them attract audiences in millions. The same can't be said about Champions League matches. Champions League may be more popular in Europe, but it has limited popularity outside that continent.

I don't have the remotest idea if tumis is invited to superbru or Fifa, since the pools are private and the leagues the same case.

Anyway, for those interested, I have updated the thread (post#23) with the final results of the three events that were held for the World Cup, at least in those that I participated in, if there is another event and I do not name it, the only reason is that I do not know that information.

Where is the list of winners ?
You can check the leader-board on superbru.
There are 54 people in this leaderboard, so I doubt everyone is a winner lol
....

If you are Tumi, so, you are in the top 10.

So finally the prizes have been awarded according to what it has been said in the post of 18th november or changes have been made since then? I'm sorry to ask that but there are two long threads dealing with this contest and I could have missed some announcements.

We've got over 0.3 in the pot now. Here are what the prizes will likely be:

1st 0.1
2nd 0.05
3rd 0.04
4th 0.03
5th 0.02
6th 0.01
7th 0.01
8th 0.01
9th 0.01
10th 0.01

FIFA Bracket 0.01 (or whatever is left in the pot after the main prizes).

No, no guys, you Germans are way too good at this thing, better stay in your own board and battle among yourselves Smiley

Just kidding of course, bring in as many people willing to play pay to enter pools to the gambling section. While Premier League and big competitions like World Cup get a nice number of participants, less popular ones like La Liga or Serie A get less then 20 per season. Even Champions League can't compete with Premier League which I find a bit strange.

That is what I keep thinking!!

I would REALLY like to see more La Liga thread guys come but also the French league which I am sometimes active in. A lot of names there that don't always go out of the board and I'm just surprised it's only English Premier League people that also join the others like Champions League pool. I noticed you guys who organize the pools seem to have to do a lot of work just to convince people to join, when the prizes are so big Wink I try to promote the pools in French thread but no success.

Our next missions should be to get Serie A and La Liga pools to grow to 30, maybe we can attract the World Cup dudes to take a peek.

I agree about La Liga and Serie A that they should have much more participants,I personally have not joined them because I joined F1,Premier League,World Cup and Champions League but I would love to participate in Serie A as a minimum because I think I know that league somewhat better than the La Liga. The more people means the better prizes and better excitement and also we can discuss in the specific threads like we do in that massive Premier League prediction thread for the pool there.Next year I will make sure to join at least one Serie A or La Liga.

I believe that there would be a few more users on our board who would be interested. Unfortunately, most of them so rarely look at the English threads.

Yeah that‘s sadly true… most of them aren’t that big of gamblers aswell but always enjoy a good community contest Smiley

Maybe in a few years we can talk them into the next contest by showing off our huge combined winnings of 0,15 BTC Cheesy

Yeeess. We got another FC Bayern fan here. MiaSanMia buddy!  Cool
No, mate, not Bayern fan Wink. More like PSG hater. And even fact that GOAT is playing for them, don't makes me to love them.

I already wrote in some thread before WC started that I expect great football. Top players are in top form at the moment and not tired with mind already thinking about holidays like in the usual WC slot. Problems will arrive latter on as the leagues get to their finish and players that came far in WC start to get more injuries or mental fatigue.

That being said I still can't believe Qatar got it. This WC simply did not have that magic atmosphere for the supporters. I don't think we ever had such low numbers when we compare recent world cups. I am not talking just number of supporters in the stadiums, I am also talking about all the supporter centers and stuff usually organized for those that can't get a ticket and there were very small number of those in Qatar.
Good point. And for me now it's very interesting how players after return from World Cup will look, I think there should be decline in their forms. Especially for players who came to the final stages of tournament. While yesterday I watched City game and De Bruyne looked like old good version of him and not that one that we saw in World Cup. It's also interesting how teams which didn't had their players in World Cup, or had just few will look, after all they didn't had competetive games for more than month.
Yeah, it didn't had that special atmosphere. These fanzones outside stadiums in other World Cups were full of people, while in this one you weren't able to buy f*cking beer. There was very low number of fans who arrived from Europe.

Four days to go, so fasten your seat belt and get ready for the ride. The world cup was so frustrating for me that I have not logged in for several days and don't feel like to check my status until I am in good mood to make the selections for the match day.

Thank you for the reminder. I almost forgot to submit my picks in the Premier League pool. Cheesy

If you don't live in England, it's always interesting to see football being played there on 26/12. We don't have that in the Austrian and German Bundesliga.

For me it's more obvious that they're going to get eliminated by Bayern Cheesy

Thank you once again @hilariousetc / @hilariousandco for organizing this contest, @Sportsbet and @jeremypwr for sponsoring this contest. I have never won such a high amount (dollar or bitcoin) before and will definitely be joining the next pool again Wink

Payments have been sent now. Thanks everyone for participating and massive thanks to jeremypwr and Sportsbet for hooking us up with the sponsorship. Without them this pool wouldn't be anywhere near as fun.

I got my payment also, it's a very nice bonus to get from World Cup, from pool, from bracket and even from quiz formats, so rightly right to thank Sportsbet, jeremypwr and everyone involved for making this a special memory (apart from the games themselves, amazing!!).

The PL pool is so long that you can slowly climb up the leader board over time. You don't need to do amazing just be consistent with slightly above average scores and you will crawl up the table. The world cup you can't afford to be average as the competition is so short. I started off pretty badly but moved up the table in the knockout stages but wasn't enough to grab a paid place (though I wasn't far off in the end but it's so close that you need every point you can get).

It was definitely the case in WC where Slissy led for a long time until a lot of people took over. I also did very well while absent, and lost 3 spots in the last 4/5 games but still got a nice 10 mbtc, so it's definitely like UCL. You have to be lucky a lot, and then keep it steady while EPL you just need to be consistent, which is hard to do with 38 weeks!

Thanks everyone who was involved here including the sponsor and organizer. It was a great one month we had.

Time without football sucks.
I can't imagine Madrid with Rodrygo, Vini and Militao. I hope they recover fast, otherwise, it will be hard for Madrid for getting at the top.

Money received, thanks to hilarius for running it, and to jeremypwr & Sportsbet for sponsoring it.

To summarize World Cup in few sentences, it was strange to see this tournament in winter, when there is full of snow outside the window. But if we talk just about tournament and don't pay attention to things which happened outside the pitch, it was great tournament.

In Champions league is it obvious that PSG is going to win the title?

But it's still a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to the first matches after the winter break. Time without football sucks.

Prize received. Thanks a lot buddy! This has been my biggest pool win by far. Still feels crazy.

You are absolutely right. However, I was performing slightly below average the whole season so far. And that's unlikely to change with my non-existent expertise in the Premier League, haha.  Grin

Back to the club grind now people.
A month feels like ages. I am so frustrated that pretty sure I will be continuing shit selections for the coming few rounds. Only 7 days to restart premier league.

In Champions league is it obvious that PSG is going to win the title?

Nope. FC Bayern, of course, haha.

I can't wait for the national leagues and the Champions League to start again. Even though I'm pretty far behind in the current Premier League pool. It's about time I make up a few places there. But I don't know shit about the Premier League. So I guess it will be pretty tough. Cheesy

Nevertheless, the Champions League should also be really exciting this year. Besides FC Bayern and PSG, there are several other clubs that are good contenders for the title. IMHO, it hasn't been such an open race for a long time.
