notblox1, It looks like we have quite many different answers in this round. The winner might be decided quite fast.  Smiley  I'm thankful for Ireland to score that 2nd goal in the stoppage time. This goal helped me start off 1-0. By the way I see only 3 people including me predicting Dallas Mavericks to win Game 1. Boston Celtics have a home advantage maybe but I wanted to give Dallas Mavericks a chance. They are my favourite to win the final series as well.

It's oy the first day and I already lost a point. So far it's 1-1 between Ireland and Hungary so if it stays like that, my opponent won't get a point. These friendly games are hard to predict so I just went with their H2H games and most of them were with 0 or 1 goal. That's why I went with 0-1 goal.

Friendlies, and mostly national team matches are usually just a coin flip, past history and result barely play a part in the future result because their are often team overhauling and replacements every now and then, it's easier to just follow the bookies trend or odds sometimes too when you have no clue about this teams.

-----------------

I guess a lot of people expected Djokovic to withdraw from the French Open or at least not make the finals due to his injury, I couldn't pick Ruud because his side of the draw still looks rather tough while Sinner is looking geared up, my biggest fear was that Djokovic could play and knock Ruud out before finally withdrawing and that contributed to my sticking with the lower bracket of the draw.

Alcaraz is looking to take a stroll past Tsitsipas, I guess that is the bracket where our winner will surely come from!

Slava Ukraini!
I hope Im not going to be your 4th win of the season. I also need that extra 3 points because it seems the best guy on our division didnt submit his answer So I need to win this one. Dang why cant I get a free 3 points, well grats @LTU_btc
It's first time when I got free 3 points in whole time as I play in BSFL. Offcourse, it would be more fun to get these 3 points after fight, but it's big help for me in final rounds.
But now I wasted last my VAR after Djokovic retired from Roland Garros

Congratulations to Div3 winners, see you soon, hopefully not next season haha

My problem as a participant is to stop thinking like I'm betting. You look for value in betting, you look to outthink your opponent in BSFL. Not the same thing.

Yup, exactly. That's why although I feel LMS will be a huge success, I think no other format can match the longevity of BSFL.
Playing for the best overall total is fun, but needing that 3 points every week in a H2H duel brings a whole new layer of randomness and suspense.

Sorry to be dumb but what's LMS? But yes, even from season 1, I thought BSFL was the format we all needed to keep things going. It's serious enough that you need to be interested in sports to want to look things up yet simple enough that even a Gen Xer like me can still figure out my way around a search engine to find out a few things (but I did need the Liquipedia tip for eSports haha). My only concern then was if people would keep on playing but I'm very happy to see that there are enough bastards to keep it going, with at least a stable flow of incoming/outgoings. Rikafip and the evil fee even proved it's attractive enough to keep people coming back after dropping out!

Did you get a record VAR this week? It was quite a late withdrawal.

Super sad to not winning the points on the field, seeing mv1986 late submision i took a good win anyways and a needed win for me.

I send a super late VAR when i see Djokovic drop the tournament, so i spend a VAR in a non sense round.

The sad part, im not gonna comment so much in the midweek. I think im gonna start to prepare my team for the lastman of eurocup.

Sadder for me, as I would not only thrash Trofo, but overtake you if mv didn't forget!

Kidding aside I also feel like writing questions is more of hinderance than help. It helps because we already do the research up front so we are never answering out of the blue but as cryptofrka says, we make margins to get even split. Meaning they are worst possible margins for us to choose from.

Can't believe I sent YOU my VAR too at first haha.

I can relate -- if I were doing questions, I'd feel like I know enough, yet be duty-bound to get to 50/50, and yet still feel partial to a pick in spite of the odds.

Nice article, too. It's as if one guy you talk up will forget to submit. It was me during cup, and now Saint-loup, who must be feeling so bored at the top to want to completely wipe out his 4-point advantage Wink

Congrats @shogun47.

It was a fierce match with @ILuckyGuyI, even though if @ILuckyGuyI can beat you, I can go to direct promotions, unfortunately my expectations are different from reality.

It was a really competitive game indeed. I only needed Hurkacz to win against Dimitrov but he failed too hard.  Sad  Maybe you can still promote to Division 2 through playoffs who knows.

Congrats @shogun47 and @Kokee44 for your direct promotions! I wish I was in shogun47's place.  Tongue  But missing one week has even cost me my playoffs chance. Damn, how did I miss that alarm... My target next time is going to be direct promotion. No matter I achieve my target or not, I'm having fun anyway of course. But a promotion would motivate my team much more though.  Grin

3 different answers between me and ralle14 in a game in which we both badly need the win. Considering the significance, I'll hedge my answers with some real money bets.

This is probably the first real time that I am very close to not submitting my picks in time before the deadline, because I was about to be away probably for the rest of the day, without access to submitting before deadline, while I haven't even made any pick yet, I believe that's highly due to me have almost a free pass for the round, I just had to submit so as not to bring the same mindset into subsequent rounds.

Now outthinking Trofo appears easy. He goes for BTTS, he generally favours proven tennis players on their strong pitch (so never a guy who's shit on clay, for example), and I believe you and he have a tendency for Overs and for favs to cover handicaps. It's unnatural for me to think like this, I always prefer to go with or against form, depending on the value so I have to do my best to match him in that thinking Wink

(I could also be throwing smoke who knows, eh Trofo?)
Or maybe I just pretended my whole life in anticipation of this derby  Cool

I honestly hate that we're writing the questions. We try to find the middle ground so there are no obvious answers and most of the time I don't know what to pick because in my eyes it's all 50-50.
If somebody else wrote it, they would probably change some of them so I could find an edge - but this way it's impossible. I changed my answers 3 times already, a hugely important round for me and I simply need to get it right.

You can't really win with questions, I've asked myself often how I would have phrased or cornered it, but you can't really predict in the end if you want to get closeness, or even if the question will become invalid BUT I think you guys do a great job. If there is only a slight edge for someone who does a bit of research, I think the point of BSFL is achieved.

P.S. I just realised I only have 3 rounds left to make sure I win, as casper's my match in Round 14... not much room left for error.

Not really, 4 of you play for 1 promotion spot so the winner goes against the winner of the entebah - Dittoup matchup. Only that one gets promoted.
Previously you'd need 1 more win, so 3 in total.
Ah I see, I thought that 2 from each division will get promoted.  Getting out of Division 3 feels like getting out of one of those lower English leagues.  Cheesy

Maybe I'm not the best person to comment on this because I'm not that big of a sports freak, but to me all questions (OK, maybe not all but most of them) can go either way.
Its true, they can and its the only way that it makes sense as if there was an obvious and clear choice (almost) everyone would pick it and where's fun in that.

I wanted to wait initially for today tennis matches but I am afraid I will miss deadline so submitted anyway, there is always VAR to use Smiley

Now feel safe, if I win again, I will have high hopes for promotion chance through playoff.

I have to wish bad luck to my opponent, I need it!

Good luck to the Division 3 people. Sorry Igebotz it is a long time to go for you, maybe we are still in same table.

It is bold of you to believe that the Sherrif is on his way to the third division; I'm not far from it, but I will buy my way out as always. I'm happy for you, mate; you're making me proud. I hope you make it to Division 1.

Never! I say it only to spur you on to do great things, not be Spursy Wink

Yup, no need to do anything until the start of next season.
You can still play for fun or challenge other people of course.

Thank you!

Congrats to Kokee44 & shogun47 for promotion!

Thank you!

Congratulations to @Kokee44 & @shogun47, especially for @shogun47, thanks for winning in the last round, it put me in the play-off zone, next is quite a difficult journey for me because I've to play against @Patikno who can compete in the top standings of Division 3B. In the last season I failed to get promoted, maybe this is a real opportunity for me, hopefully... Roll Eyes

Always at your service! Tongue
