A tie after the first 2 questions is perfectly fine for me😁 We have 4 different answers left and a lot can be decided today😁 I hope that there will be many goals today!

Boom Barca, boom BVB almost-late goal! It's now 3-1 with just 2 different answers left, so I will at minimum walk away with one point. You're welcome, the rest of you looking up at Slissy Wink

I go to bed tonight knowing I'm not SO shit if I can stand up to the current leader. *cries mid-table tears
Go buwaytress  Grin

That's the spirit. I even said in my article that I am rooting for you.  Have some problems getting it published this week so if it isn't up today I will just copy/paste it here.

Need to get above Slissy in the league, sick and tired to always loosing side bets to him. Now I just need to win my duel and it will be though. Would have helped if Atletico game stayed om 2 goals.

Barca game was entertaining as hell, that one could have finished with even more goals. Like the new Lewandowski that goes deep and opens up space for wingers, sort of what Kane always did for Spurs.

hahaha man i dont use the VAR because of my good faith and my previous declarations.
Good, never use VAR and any illegal moved when you are playing against me  Grin
I am standing nice so far in this round after today matches, but I understood wrongly question 7 for teams Leicester, Leeds and Ipswich, and I have to wait for weekend matches in Championship.

Until i check again the spreadsheet i really think you already win. But i forgot that question about how many goals on Atletico Dortmund game, so im still alive.

I find better your answer for some of the next questions, about the championship one you are ahead with the draw of today made by Ipswich.

Tomorrow i play my last bullets i think on the european games and the eurolueague one.

Can I propose that team Trofo nickname gets renamed from Snake to Negan for next season?
He reminds me a lot on that evil character from Walking Dead, but I dont plan to make new logo for him, sorry Negan.

This was perfect underdog bet on Barcelona, and I cant believe bookies gave us such a gift.
I hope someone took it wisely.

I'm not able to find much chance for doing research as much as in the past because of being busy with a new work in the recent times. Thankfully you also didn't use VAR. Smiley I was thinking that Bayern Munich would win today however a draw was an enough result for me. The referee's not giving the penalty in favor of Arsenal in the last minute saved me. There are still 3 questions that can change the result. Let's see what happens.

Well, even if Arsenal managed to win the game in the last minute, it still wouldn't get me a point because I had them to cover -1.5 handicap. But at least you wouldn't have one point advantage Smiley Never mind... We still have enough different answers for my team to turn this around. And if we do, it will be great for the morale because it would be great to win someone close to the top of the table Grin

Tomorrow is an important day for both of us. The result of 2 out of 3 remaining questions is going to be clear tomorrow. I believe in myself especially on the Anadolu Efes question. Anadolu Efes are in a quite good form now and they have to maintain their place in top 10. Good luck for tomorrow.

Don't think so. It is what it is and the only thing that can come out of it is a penalty for the ref. By penalty I mean he could be dropped from CL for the rest of the season or something like that. Worse things happened in football and we never got repeated games. There were cases when clubs took things into their own hands and let the opposition score a free goal (lower leagues) in the reverse fixture but no way Arsenal is doing something like that in CL  Grin Arsenal is still complaining about Saka "penalty" in the 95th minute and they probably feel wronged here.

The whole world saw what happened with this referee decision, but I think Arsenal would argue two ways: one way is that they believe Saka vs. Neuer was a penalty, which in my opinion was not a penalty as Saka is throwing his leg against Neuer's leg. I wonder why Saka didn't play it smarter than that because he could have either scored or indeed gotten a penalty if he made sure to be closer to Neuer to have more of a full body contact. The second thing they are bringing up is that the whistle was still blown when the goalkeeper passed the ball. But the entire gesture and body language of the goalkeeper was that he took the whistle as the restart of the game. As was said somewhere else, whatever the case, why the hell would the Arsenal player take the ball with his hands even if he thought the game was not yet continued?

A Germa official (Sammer) said that for the sake of great football, it was right to not give this penalty. I get the point he is making from an emotional perspective, but this is just not how rule sets work.

The worst of it all is the explanation the referee gave. Imagine he wouldn't have given the explanation "was a child's fault" or something, but instead said that he didn't exactly see whether the goalkeeper kicked the ball before the whistle was blown, while it was blown or afterwards. That way he would at least have put out his own state of confusion instead of his own decision to bend the rule set for the sake of a more fun football evening. Cheesy It was the most stupid comment the referee could make. That alone deserves a penalty. He was too honest and too dumb.

Some people waited for the news

Well actually I got tired of being tricked by the question already lol. I was tricked several times in the past so wheneve this type of question shows up, I always google them up before I answered. Simple google search like is X player injured saved my ass and in this case its Alcaraz, I would be putting him as a yes if only I hadnt search that one up first

-snip

Yo mate, 1 question down in the favour for you, 3 more different answers between us. First to get 2 point would be save from losing this round

I thought that it's something like that. It doesn't sound fair because every game basically depends on the honesty of one man who is a referee. I know that for a UCL referee it's his full-time job and all of them probably do their best to do the job correctly, but there should be a room for an exception if a club is damaged by a poor judgement of a referee.

Anyway, thanks for the clarification. It's the way I thought it would be.

I haven't checked the spreadsheet yet, but I just put on my TV to catch Tennis from Monte Carlo just to discover that Carlos Alcaraz pulled out of the tournament due to an injury, was this before the deadline and does anyone knew before they submitted their answers or used VAR for it ?

Well, I didn't and neither was aware that Carlitos pulled out, so my opponent with the advantage already if they knew.

Yup, it was known a few hours before the deadline. Some people waited for the news, 3 of them used VAR after the news broke out.
This turned out really well, those that paid attention now have a small advantage compared to their opponents. It might just save my ass in the end.

Damn! I checked, my opponent also took advantage of it. I really don't know what I was thinking but I didn't follow tennis yesterday at all and I submitted my picks since Monday and any of my picks wasn't at a risk of elimination before the deadline, that was why I didn't bother to check.

I'm glad to still have a point advantage anyways, I can only just hope Medvedev doesn't make the semi finals to restore parity on that question.

Lol. Your good Samaritan work sent you to the bench. Rules are Rules.  Grin

Bayern were robbed there, and if they want to take the case up against the ref, they have a solid case. You are the referee; you follow the rules and do not impose conditions for evident violations of the rules. WTF is;

1. A kid mistake
2. I can't give that as a penalty in a CL QFinal game. ( Stupid 3 PK decisions were awarded in the WC final, the biggest football tournament. )

Arsenal fans are shamelessly talking about the Saka incident not mentioning how the ref helped them from going 3-1 down early into the game.

I quote you to avoid multi-quoting but this is actually a question for anyone who knows. Is there something a club can do when something like this happens? I mean, a referee has his freedom to rule some questionable things as he thinks it's best. But what if his decision is (intentionally or not) pure wrong and has direct impact on the end result? Could this game be played again if Bayern files a plea?

but what I don't understand is why the ref labeled the Gabriel handball in the box a "kid mistake". WTF is a kid mistake in an adult game.

Yup, I cannot understand this at all. Why would he even take the ball in his hand even if he could? You're a footballer, use your legs.
It s so incredibly stupid, a totally unnecessary risk to take. If the penalty was awarded (and it should have been), it would have been one of the dumbest mistakes in CL's history.
This is something you don't see every day. I missed it live since I was playing football and then watching Real - City but I have seen it today and it should have been penalty. Even kids league penalise stuff like that.

Still remeber when I was playing some local 5 aside football tournament on a turf near the sea. Someone passed me a long ball meter over my head on a touchline and I caught it with my hands so that it doesn't end in the sea. Got yellow card and 2 minutes for that  and I was actually helping opposing team Grin

I'm SO glad you guys are all agreemen on this my mates all disagreed when I said that was clear 100% penalty. Seems people forgot when arguing about Saka possible penalty. There's a reason there are rules and lines and refs and flags and so on.

This is why it's supposed to be different at school and at professional level. I have seen it before, handling ball is always a foul, whether yellow or not is ref decision, but it's foul no question. That should have been penalty regardless intention. If you can send off people for kid mistake with no intention, you can award penalty even easier.

I think this season something happened very similar to Trofo forgot which league, ball was going out for corner and player caught it and gave away freekick. It was obviously going out, but rules is rules. Ball still in play and active play, no handling Tongue

Arsenal could have won it in final minutes and given me an advantage, but in BSFL I always dance on the narrowest of margins - so it's 0-1 instead of 1-0. Still confident in the rest of my picks to turn this around.

So, Slissy, what an outcome. We both liked Bayern, and we both picked the wrong side in a draw -- so finely balanced, as it should be. I actually missed most of the opening minutes (watched Real, and I think that was the right choice even with 4 goals in London) but still saw enough of the game to be entertained. Have to say neither Real nor City looked or played like Real or City -- attacking with abandon, Haaland goes missing in those types of frantic games.

Perfect recipe for second legs to have more of the same. Like cryptofrka pointed out in UCL thread, bloody shame that we had to wait this long for proper football and then we are forced to choose one or the other.

Oh and yes, on tennis. I actually looked at the draw on official site and it hadn't marked anyone as withdrawn when I submitted; shouldn't trust slow officials... be like Cro2, spreadsheet updated minutes after FT.

A tie after the first 2 questions is perfectly fine for me😁 We have 4 different answers left and a lot can be decided today😁 I hope that there will be many goals today!

It feels good to have an early lead with the Real/City question, but that exit from Alcaraz was unexpected, and now I gave dbshck a free point from the tennis question.  Tongue

After comparing our predictions, I guess our round will end on Thursday or Friday, possibly with a low-scoring outcome depending on how the remaining questions pan out.
