Damn! I thought I had gotten even with my opponents for a moment when Benfica equalized, only for freaking VAR to ruin the party, sigh  Angry

That VAR decision put Cryptofka at a huge advantage now. Not gonna complain but if he somehow manages to win just letting y'all know it was that dirty Var decision. I should have listened to my team doctor and postpone this game instead of fielding kids in lineup.

Neymar, Pogba and Hazard are perfect example of how a single move can ruin your career - Where you're King? Stay King.

I guess I'm losing this friendly, only 1 point form 4 questions and I'm not hopeful anymore after seeing F1 test results in practice sessions Sad Red Bull surprised everyone by not being top, but Mercedes is also not what I was hoping for, I don't know why I thought some other team would somehow get the job done lol

Anyway, I guess better to lose this last round to reset my players for new season, gonna be so tough in division 2, dangerous guys promoted and we have to fight many battles!

Well for the record, I just got squashed by cryptoafrka. He basically won a point from the first 4 question out of 8 different answers between us lol and realistically speaking, Im pretty sure I wont get 4 points from the last 4 question so this round pretty much over between us. Well I guess this is it for me but Im kinda glad that I managed to flush one bad rounds out of me before the league even started.

Well done @cryptofrka !

Well... After seeing Bilbao leading 2-0, I knew I'll lose that point and I thought that both of us will be wrong in the Sporting question. Now it's 3-1 and if I calculated correctly on my phone, we have only two different answers to be settled. If that's right, the best you can get is a draw. But I'm sure that won't happen Grin

I doubt it's for the money, though, because that's something Newcastle can afford right ?
Yes it is all about money, and Newcastle is not in the groups of richest clubs in Premier League.
It was £30m deal and Al-Ahli is owned by Saudi Public Investment Fund, that holds 80% stake in Newcastle.  Grin

If it was about the money, they paid more to get Sven Botman from Lille, Anthony Gordon cost way more, while they paid twice as much of that to land Alexander Isak, and also paid 30 million Euros for Chris Wood about 2 seasons ago, although the sale of maximin was a profitable deal for Newcastle as they only got him for about 18 million or thereabout from Nice. I just don't think the deal was solely a monetary motivated deal for Newcastle.

Not relaxing at all.  We still have 4 different answers and it's can go either way.
The only surprising answer I saw on Hhampuz is that of city not wining the match against United, I never thought of anyone picking such answer but you!
Good.
Remember that I supported you this season, so you have to pay me back next season  Grin

Simeone, my man. How you have fallen. I thought it was still possible to overcome 2 goal deficit after Inaki broke the deadlock but once the penalty didn't happen, Atleti fell apart. Knew it was against the odds to pick them for the final, but Simeone's supposed to be the puppetmaster in the face of cup adversity. Boo.

Given Athletic Bilbao's form not so different from Atletico Madrid's own for this season, and how awful Atletico have been a lot of times, I'm surprised that some still consider them favorite with a goal deficit and playing away from home.

Even the sportsbooks have Athletic Bilbao as the slight favorite on money line, to win the game in regular time, and I saw how how Bilbao had played against Girona a few weeks ago, I just thought they can't be undermined with such an advantage.

How's oblak still in the post for ATM in 2024 ? That bro fell off a long time ago.

As long as Simeone is in charge, the team will never progress beyond its current level and will remain in a showdown of Real Madrid and Barcelona. Simeone is doing to ATM what Arsene Wenger did to Arsenal: the club's expectations are low, and they are only sucking money from player sales.

Simeone needs to go with his toxic football, Oblak needs to leave, and the team needs a modern-day manager to compete again.

It wasn't so much the age of your players but their experience. I believe you had a lower starting average age (Liverpool ended up lower after subs) but collective experience was well above ours. Half our squad had not even 90 minutes in a senior game, a couple had their first starts last night.

More experienced? Yes, Younger squad? No. You put the piece together so well, this is what I was expecting to hear and not the age thing that was trending.

What was Newcastle's reasons for selling St Maximin in the first place? What is his injury record? Man was their best player and the only one with the most successful take ons after Hazard left England. I recall telling Harkorede earlier this season that Newcastle was never going to survive this season with their dreadful squad depth, and I was not wrong.
~
Yeah we had the youngest lineup against Liverpool in the Cup final but nobody is talking about it. They only see billions and not toddlers

I don't know much, that sale went under the radar but I recall it was all tied to ownership, you know, the big sports consortia that own multiple clubs. Newcastle stems from the same Saudi sovereign funds so he was moved to leverage or optimise some of their finances. The club fans did a mini revolt but he was plenty crucial to their performance, despite his injuries. I loved watching him play. But the owners used him to adjust their books. This is modern football, I guess.

Well Harkorede... It's 2-0 for me after Manchester United managed to win by only one goal. I didn't have time to comment on it before but I couldn't resist Grin I was dwelling whether to go with Man United winning with a handicap or only by 1 goal. I decided to risk it with 1 goal difference and it paid off Smiley

I wouldn't get ahead of myself just yet, if I were you we still have 5 different answers, and about 3 or 4 of those questions have no grey areas it's either black or white, and you might want to ask Trofo how I fare when it comes making come backs, he sure knows one or two.

---------------------

I like the new rules and how it enriches the pocket of subsequent seasons, I really hope that does make the number of late submission reduce drastically for season 4, tbh.

I don't care. Even if I lose in the end, I can't helpmyself and I have to rub it in your face that it's 2-0 for me Grin Of course there are a lot of different answers until the end of the round, but I hope you won't make a come back Smiley

As for the rules, I love them. If the 20% penalty was introduced for the season that just ended, it would mean that I would have received 20% less reward, but I still love the rule. It's not fair not to submit answers and there's no apology for it.

Most players are on the break long enough already.

Break? What break? There's no break for the real teams. We need every friendly that we get in order to keep our teams in form and to see what players deserved to be promoted to the senior team.

As I said, count me in. Just let me know where to send the evil fee.  Wink
Main escrow address, preferably immediately after we send out rewards and empty it form Season 3 funds so that they are paid before first deadline. That way we keep it as simple as possible. There will be a post and I will tag you into it.  That time window is quite small, maybe 30 hours so we will make some allowances but we would appreciate if most of those that have to pay manage to do it in that time slot.

It will be a bit hectic week since we will not have usual 1 week break due to cup matches that were postponed. Most players are on the break long enough already.

There are some new rules we are introducing.

Late submission penalties

  • In case of late submission, the player loses the duel with a score of 3-0 and gets 1 'total points' penalty - it is the same rule that we had so far.
  • To add to that, if a person has 1 missed submission at the end of the season, his reward will be reduced by 20%. If he has 2, the reward will be 50% less and 3 means automatic disqualification and no reward at all.
The deducted rewards from such players will go to the next season's budget.

I bet most people would submit on time next season after they read this lol. 20% is an appropriate penalty even just for 1 late submission, its going to cost you alot especially if you are on division 1 and hey we are almost at the bull run so that btc as the reward could worth alot more after the season ends. I guess this applied to free bets reward as well and the leftover free bets are going to be carry over to next season?

LOVE the Evil fee!

And yo, yo, yo, what happens when you trust Girona finally, and trust Manchester United finally?

Well okay they didn't cover the 2 goals I needed to beat you buway but at least I managed to turn 1 of my 5 relegation freebets into some consolation prize, to win my money back Smiley

You know I never make as much on this type of multibet as I do big singles, ever since I switched strategy last year to follow you as the great underdog betting guy, but the problem with freebet is you have to bet on games within 3 days. So this is the best I can find sometimes.

Oh wait I know another 'problem' is I don't never used USDT so I know myself, I'll end up losing it one day lol

BSFL - pre-season update

Season 4 - STARTING SOON

  • It will start on 04.03. and probably last until end of July (20 weeks or so).
  • We have 16 teams per Divisions 1 and 2 (15 rounds, 1-legged competition + the Cup and playoffs) and an undefined number of players in Division 3 so far (around 20).
  • In case we have 20 or less people in Division 3, we will probably have a single Division 3. In case we have more, we'll probably have Divisions 3A and 3B again. We'll announce the full format of Division 3 on Sunday - that's the sign up deadline.
  • Divisions 1 and 2 will not be expanding this season again – meaning that Season 5 will have 16 teams in Division 1 and 16 teams in Division 2. We like this format and feel it is optimal for now, but might expand leagues again for Season 6 so we get a single Division 3 with 18 teams.
  • This season there won’t be a Division 4, but that does not mean that the following one we won’t have it.
If we do go with Division 4, Division 3 will have 16 players as well and all lower placed players will be relegated to Division 4 (all spots below top 8 if we go with 2 Division 3’s).
  • It is more likely that we’ll continue having 2 Division 3’s, in that case there won’t be relegation and we’ll keep filling the Div3 spots with new players.
  • There will be 3 or 4 players relegated from Division 1 to Division 2 (3 direct, 13th from Div 1 will play directly against 4th from Div2 for the last spot in Division 1.
Therefore, 3 or 4 players will be promoted from Division 2 to Division 1 (3 direct, 1 potentially in playoffs (4th team from Div 2 to play 13th team from Div 1).
  • There will be 3 or 4 players relegated from Division 2 to Division(s) 3. 3 players from Division 2 will be relegated directly and the 13th player from Division 2 will play a H2H game versus a yet undefined Division 3 team.
We will announce the Division 3 promotion format once we define whether we go with one or 2 Division 3's.
  • We have introduced a 1mBTC buy-in for Division 2, while Division 1's buy-in was decreased from 2,5 to 2mBTC.
  • The reward pool will therefore be 7.000$ in sponsorship from SB (we will transfer it to BTC when we receive it) and 48mBTC collected from buy-in fees. We will have standard freebets rewards pool as well to add to the rewards.
The approximate rewards according to Division placement will be shared in the next few days.

There are some new rules we are introducing.

Late submission penalties

  • In case of late submission, the player loses the duel with a score of 3-0 and gets 1 'total points' penalty - it is the same rule that we had so far.

The deducted rewards from such players will go to the next season's budget.

Evil fee

  • In case a member got disqualified in any of the previous seasons and wants to join again, he is returning from the lowest possible Division.
The initial penalty for participating again is a 1mBTC 'evil fee' that is returned to the player at the end of the season if the player submits the answers for all rounds on time.
If he fails to do so, evil fee is kept and shared between all the teams that secured promotion from Division 3 in that season.
  • If a player gets disqualified again, the each subsequent time the evil fee is doubled, so becomes 2mBTC, then 4mBTC etc.

I'm tagging all disqualified members so that they are aware of the new rules - in case they want to rejoin.

What was Newcastle's reasons for selling St Maximin in the first place?
Easy answer Sheriff, it was money and Al Ahli is known to pay a lot Grin
I think his contract expired and he spent four seasons in Newcastle before moving to Saudi Arabia.
I don't mind them selling St. Maximin, he is very injury prone player and spent more time in hospital than on the pitch. It is also better for him to play in league where you have one game per week instead of 2.

Is it big money? Don't remember reading about it and if it was I sort of think it would be all over the news.

He was shipped out for only £25m, which is poor business from Newcastle United; I'm sure they could have got more if the team's recruiting team was any good. Not a good deal for the club but a better deal for the doctors for someone who sleeps and eats at the hospital.
