Yep, that's probably the best thing about this new format, that teams will have to take it seriously until the last game in order to secure those first 8 spots and goal difference will matter. But with the number of big teams clashes to watch very early into the competition, there is really nothing to not like about this new format, at least as of now.

I bitched about it a lot, hated the change initially. I kinda changed the tone as soon as the draw was made - there will always be a few games worth watching which wasn't always the case in the previous format.
It will also give more games to the teams that have no chance of progressing, which is good for their development.

I'd say it's looking good.

I think that this new format will bring more good games between strong teams. For example, in the previous format we could never have a game Manchester City - Inter this early in the season. I think it's definitely an improvement over the old format. Plus, weaker teams get to play two games more in the UCL than before.

It is more fun and exciting to follow the Champions League matches thanks to the questions. I see that we have different answers to 2 of those questions so I hope I can get more lucky.
