Nice one man! Good hit! It's one of those days that it pays off to chase the bigger odds, but Argentina ML would have felt like the safest option, so I feel your pain with the other bet you had to lose, but you didn't have anything on Saudi Arabia ML @ 29 Odds, did you ?

Thanks! It didn't really help as I lost a lot more on Argentina in other big accas, but now Japan just equalised so I might get another bit of help as I've got Japan... Minamino assist and my man of the tournament Ritsu Doan, so nice to see my 2 fav Japanese players get on that goal!

And no not Saudi, unfortunately, they aren't even good in Asia Cup... they were 40/1 at HT too (sobs).

Japan have taken the lead, man! I'm rooting for you here, just so you know, I could careless of Germany losing their opening game of the tournament, I just hope they'll keep their composure and see this through to the end.

Here we go with another potential Saudi vs Argentina repetition, and Argentina also led at halftime, as well through a spot kick, it's all hands on deck!

EDIT: Mission Completed! Congratulations mate!

Who would guess that Saudi Arabia will be first in Group C after first round?  Cheesy

Not me. I like underdogs but this was 39-game unbeaten Argentina with an in-form Messi... oh well Smiley

Also, for the fastest goal question Australia(9min) is currently in the lead and then Argentina(10min).

I have a feeling that I'm not going to do very well with the Quiz, although we could already have an idea by looking at the spreadsheet, but there isn't much extra time as if several teams have had it in this early stage of the game.

Quote
Writing to them Thomas Müller comes out in the 67th minute (minimum 60: 1 point) so adding up for whoever took it.

With chances-quiz still to a couple more points, I have Belgium with the fastest goal... and another one question wiht Brazil-Neymar I think..

Oh!...Shit!!

Japan vs Germany today's game is very contested.  Germany scored a goal but so far the 65 minutes of running time have been heavily attacked by Germany.  No more attacks succeed.  Meanwhile, Japan are offside when they attack because I think they are not very experienced in the game of football.  Because I saw three attacks on Japan but three attacks were oxides.  But Japan should play a bit more cautiously to check the oxides.

expected more from Croatia, thought that @2.25 is value bet, but Morocco is solid team, hard to play against
in the end, match was pretty boring

will be interesting fight for next round, Belgium is there, Canada probably without chances, but win over them will be crucial for all three other teams in the group

on to Germany, what they are good for?

I'd say that Germany should have no problem against Japan, but we have seen in the last few matches that there are many surprises. I don't follow Japan but if I'm not mistaken, there are also pretty fast players in Japan. Maybe they can surprise Germany and secure at least one point.

I don't agree with this at all. All top leagues aren't even to the half way mark, meaning players should be way more ready and less tired for this WC then in usual time after whole season has ended. Problems will come in few months time when leagues plus euro cups will be in full swing and players that played in Qatar start feeling that extra fatigue and muscle injuries become even more frequent.

Yes, it will be a typical end of the season, but this time it will be exaggerated several times over. Teams with shallow roster depth that end up losing to more solid opponents every year may find themselves in a deeper crisis than usual this year. I'm not talking about complete outsiders (which, on the contrary, have now received additional rest), but about middle peasants and predtops whichs players play in the national teams.

I also just noticed today Sportsbet deposit is instant even if BTC is nor confirmed. As in, you can bet with balance immediately, whereas before you had to wait for 1 confirmation if I'm not mistaken. That's very good for me Smiley

I have a question. If the correct answer is not in anyone's quiz answer, will the next closest answer win points? For example Australia now has fastest goal but nobody picked them. Is England and Argentina answer considered correct if nobody else scores earlier than 10'?
Sportsbet has instant BTC deposits for a long time now, I am using that feature almost daily and I consider it as one of the best things they decided to do ever. You can't withdraw the money before 3 confirmations though which is perfectly fine. Such a simple solution and I can't belive competition does not use it.

If nobody is correct, nobody gets the point. Wouldn't be fair to grade it otherwise unless we specifically stated it in the question.

In discussions back here in Asia, a lot of bookies lost money apparently, (underground bookies since we all don't have legal sportsbetting lol) because a lot of Saudi supporters bet big money and I guess odds were over 20x. We already have some local gangsters also spraying shop walls with paint (it's typical to mean a warning to pay up).

Meanwhile, I paid very badly as a supporter of Argentina. Spain better not let me down...

Anyway I took inspiration from the winning combibet above, and made a new one for Round 2, I can use this as the Quiz bet too as might not be easy for me to make bets until next week Smiley

But the schedule was more dense before the World Cup so that european competitions could end the group stage in time before the World Cup starts. That's why I was saying that the players could be more tried than if the World Cup was held in June. Besides, when the World Cup was held in June, most teams were left to play only their national leagues because most of the got kicked out of their national cupgames and european competitions. Besides, all national teams had one week of preparation for the World Cup. If it was held in June, they would have more time to prepare.
Schedule wasn't any more condensed than usual, there isn't space in modern football for further congestion. Only difference is that leagues started on average 2 weeks earlier than usual.

I give you the point for preparation. This is definitely the shortest amount of time national teams ever had before big competitions. But that should not be seen on player fitness levels, more on some tactical mechanics that could be missing.

On the other hand you have Qatar that had their whole national team together for 5 months and were by far the worst team that played so far.

It is difficult to put together a team in just two weeks from some of the national team with new coaches and some new players coming in to play for the national team for the first time, and this affects African countries the most because 4- 5 new players are always coming into the team for tournaments like this, and sometimes new coaches as well. If it wasn't for the fact that Covid19 messed up the entire world for one year, we wouldn't be having this conversation and tournaments in the middle of the season. Most European teams have it easier because most of the players have been playing together under the same coach for a long time, unlike American and African teams, where new players are integrated into the team at every international game

Qatar was never a football nation and  fixing in more African migrants into the team wont help them either, i noticed that's what they did.

Today commentators said that Saudi Arabia stopped their league somewhere in September, they had lot of time to prepare. And as we saw, it helped for them. I guess that African and Asian federations had more freedom with their leagues than Europe, when to stop it and start preparation for World Cup.

The reason may be because the football competition especially in Asia is not as tight as Europe so stopping the League at any time is not too much of a problem and not only such things can be found in Asia but also the establishment of national holidays which can be done only for such reasons examples of Arab Kings who declared a national holiday because the national team beat Argentina I don't think that will happen in Europe or America

So many unexpected results earlier and I went 0-2 on my bets but I'm glad that my predictions are looking solid though gained 2/3 points for the day and all four of us in the group went for Mbappe.   Tongue

It's fun so far indeed. I'm not sure how it would work for league with 38 rounds, maybe I would become bored evntually, but short tournament like World Cup it's perfect. I have 3/5 correct predictions so far, so I guess it's not great, not terrible.

First bore draw of the tournament, didn't watch the game so can't say if it was a different affair on the pitch, anyone lost money on that trap? Argentina won me this nice acca, but I lost much, much more I can't bear to admit adding them to another acca (odds at the time were over 12/10 so I thought it was a nice 20% boost to winnings). Serves me right.
Two bored draws for today in world cup, but France was amazing against Australia and saved the day, this is making my predictions better for them being world champions.
I was really surprised with Argentina losing against Saudi Arabia, my bet was on them winning first half like they did, but second half was nightmare for them.

Hey man, agreed! We will shuffle the questions, but we need to make sure that in questions like these we're using provable data - so we wanted to see what info we can get from the official site and we could not put something like this for round 1.
We're still finding our feet here, and we'll test to see what you like and don't like. Hope you're having fun so far.

I think the quiz is already a success guys, I'm now watching and hoping for outcomes based on it... right now Lautaro's cancelled goal, man I still can't get used to VAR. Was already counting my bets (and the point from the quiz about him getting assist/goal) and then ref makes us wait again.

This is great to hear, the whole idea was to make people watch the games with a bit more interest.

after 5 months together, it is expected for them to not talk in-between Smiley

nevertheless, seems that after Argentina defeat, all teams are scared, and play defensively, so no goals today after first surprise
will France shook that, or they will be goalless as well?

looking at Poland, expected more from them, especially from Lewa to score from penalty spot, but what a heck, will Argentina repeat last WC debacle?

Ah, maybe that's why UCL group stage was over a month before it usually does. Because it started before than usual.

As for Qatar national team, they could have had them together for years and everything would probably be the same because they simply lack the quality to play in the World Cup level. They are the real proof that money can't buy everything.
