I don't agree with this at all. All top leagues aren't even to the half way mark, meaning players should be way more ready and less tired for this WC then in usual time after whole season has ended. Problems will come in few months time when leagues plus euro cups will be in full swing and players that played in Qatar start feeling that extra fatigue and muscle injuries become even more frequent.

But the schedule was more dense before the World Cup so that european competitions could end the group stage in time before the World Cup starts. That's why I was saying that the players could be more tried than if the World Cup was held in June. Besides, when the World Cup was held in June, most teams were left to play only their national leagues because most of the got kicked out of their national cupgames and european competitions. Besides, all national teams had one week of preparation for the World Cup. If it was held in June, they would have more time to prepare.

And yes they played well in the first half in general, but they really fell for every offside trap, too easily, all the time, I'm with you here, disappointed they weren't more wise in that way. Teams usually defend deep against them, Saudi went brave and high line, and did it so well. Don't think I saw so many offsides in one half since watching Pippo Inzaghi 20 years ago...

I think we might be up for another boring goalless draw, between Poland and Mexico, Mexico have been the better side overall, but I don't think they find the breakthrough goal, and goalless draw would be in the best interest of Messi and Argentina too right ?

It did not seem like a bore draw from glimpses I managed to steal while working. This was first bad day in the WC for me, lost all my tickets on Argentina and then one that survived on Denmark. Both results came as a big shock to me and I thought these were maybe the best pairs to bet on in the whole match day. But since I have a nice bank from couple of consecutive wins i doubled down and place an enormous recovery bet, we shall see how it goes. Let's just say I need Poland to not loose and then some snooker to make it more lucrative.

In general, this game seems strange because there was a huge hysteria around Argentina before the tournament (Messi's last chance and all that) while Argentina does not show anything special in terms of the game.
There are two more games ahead and nothing is lost for anyone yet.

Hey there, yes. We have linked the spreadsheet already but we agree it makes more sense to put it at the beginning of the thread as well.

We will put the link in the 2nd post, where the groups are. We will also select the correct answers on a daily basis, but will announce the totals only when the round is done.

We will put some graphics for the future, so we can discuss more about your choices.

Yeah, I thought it was already linked there to be fair, will tell my colleague to update it.

This was fun day in World Cup, I enjoyed goal fest in England vs Iran match, and I was sure Engalnd will destroy them after Iran goalkeeper got injured in first half.
Nice win for Netherlands, and I didn't watch USA vs Wels but I saw 1:1 was final score, and it's going to be hard fight for second place in this group B.
