Quoted and verified with coinig.
Kinda surprising that coinig did verify this Smiley thought it wont, for some reason.
Remember about the date in your massage, it is important.

This is a pretty good idea.
But I still think that the website's moderators are able to check the logs and verify if you changed the bitcoin address that is in your profile.

If you have your btc address in your profile page, I think that you will be okay.

Staking your address here is like a time capsule that if needed to be opened on a future date address staked can be use to prove ownership of the account. Address in your profile can be changed if someone tries to hack your account, while address posted here if changed can be seen if edited or not and if address staked here is edited, no need to call a moderator as you can easily see if a post is edited by looking at the date of the post.

You are right.
But either way, if one decided not to use this thread, at the worst scenario, if his account get hijacked, than he can just call a moderator to verify his ownership of his account.

I do agree that this thread saves some time for the moderators.

Yes there are other ways to stake you BTC address than staking it here like example when you joined a signature campaign that requires you to post a BTC address or joined a game that also requires you to post a BTC address where to send the reward. But just by merely sending a moderator a PM will not help you. You need to prove account ownership by linking the Account to the BTC address that is posted and quoted to ensure that the BTC address will not be edited by the one who posted the address.

Here's a procedure on how to recover accounts https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/recovering-hacked-accounts-or-accounts-with-lost-passwords-497545. Cheers!

you can't do signature address with your address, so how you can proof it?
better to using mycellium, or maybe paper wallet is more easy to proof it.
He can still prove that he holds the address by broadcasting a transaction but yes I agree that he should stake an address where he can sign from.

Just brainstorming here people...

There's a few one way transactions to 1QGmTX1vNoPRWzGrDaBk9riXi6K6LdvjJs

Username: subham1
Loan Amount: 0.05btc
Reason of loan: Trading
Collateral: Sr.Member account
Amount to be returned: 0.051 btc
Return Date: 22-08-2016
Bitcoin address: 1QGmTX1vNoPRWzGrDaBk9riXi6K6LdvjJs

So perhaps, next time (if you don't mind) sending an additional 0.0000nnnn (either to yourself, or this Wallet Address) which would be from a random list that'd be PM'ed to you similar to this:

Code:
6363
7937
5062
3555
7416
7017
1319
8259
4835
1813

That way only you and I would know for certain that you had the list.

Then for later on:

I could make it 100 random four digit numbers which you save as a text file, then later on if there's an issue I ask you for the eg 39th number from the list...  I'd draw the random number via https://www.random.org/ (you wouldn't have to add it to a transaction, just be able to say what it is...)

Just a suggestion people...
