I’m a long time frappeholic of Starbucks, and I usually hanging out myself or with my friends there. There is a news plus a video from CNBC that Starbucks would finally accept Bitcoin soon.

However, it won’t happen as of this time as Starbucks clarifies media misrepresentation.

Take a look here guys: https://cointelegraph.com/news/no-coffee-for-bitcoin-starbucks-clarifies-as-media-misrepresent-its-new-crypto-venture

You don't have to be sad over startbucks  not accepting bitcoin currently. It's just a matter of time. Bitcoin is still growing and likely to pass it's biggest record market cap. This should generate more interest from new investors including big companies.

So, while it's true that anyone could, through this process, spend their bitcoins in Starbucks, technically they would not be accepting bitcoin as a means of payment. For me, if this is confirmed, it would be a more annoying and uncomfortable. On the other hand, at the end of the day, using it with a payment processor is still a choice. It doesn't diminish Bitcoin's functionality as a peer-to-peer electronic cash system.

Starbucks, one of the most famous coffee shop in the world, has its reasons as to why it won't accept bitcoins anytime soon. It can be due to the lack of studies or researches of the company regarding bitcoin. Maybe because of that, they will have a hard time to adjust their revenues and profits if they start to accept bitcoins without much knowledge about it and how does it work. On the other hand, it is stated in the article that they will be open in venturing to new ways to convert bitcoin and other digital assets into dollars, which can be used to purchase products in the store. As for now, we just need to have patience.

Well, no matter what is the plan of Starbucks regarding to bitcoin as a mode of payment in their stores for sure their customers will be updated before it implemented but as of now there are no truth about their mode of payment and they continuing implemented what they are their mode of payment that their accepting in their stores. However, it is also better when they decided to accepting Bitcoin as a payment.

It would be very difficult if a shop paid for bitcoin. Currently, some countries prohibit bitcoin transactions. In addition, the virtual currency is not stable as a downside.

Quote
A spokesperson for the multinational coffee chain clarified in comments to Motherboard that in fact “customers will not be able to pay for Frappuccinos with bitcoin,” but rather the company is part of a new venture creating a platform, Bakkt, to “convert digital assets like Bitcoin into U.S. dollars, which can be used at Starbucks,”

I don't get it, they are going to be accepting bitcoin, who cares what they do with it and what they receive. it is the same as when you go to a merchant now and pay them with bitcoin through Bitpay. you pay bitcoin, they accept bitcoin but they receive fiat.

unless I am misreading this, I'd say this is not a bad thing. it creates yet another use case in real world for bitcoin and it will make things even easier for merchants to accept bitcoin with no worries about its price and other risks while they increase their revenue.

I think in Starbucks the process will be different. In a store that accepts Bitpay, you can pay with bitcoin by sending it directly from your wallet, instead, in Starbucks I think this will not be possible. If I'm not wrong, in the case of Starbucks you will have to register in Bakkt, exchange bitcoin for fiat and then download an application, that I guess will be connected to your account, through which you will be able to pay with dollars at Starbucks. So, while it's true that anyone could, through this process, spend their bitcoins in Starbucks, technically they would not be accepting bitcoin as a means of payment. For me, if this is confirmed, it would be a more annoying and uncomfortable system.

No doubt that volatility is one of the biggest issues when it comes to the picture of high volume transactions. Since these large corporations have the turnover in billions, even a small fall in the market can lead to a loss of millions for them and hence they might not be using crypto at this stage but I don't see any reason for them to accept crypto down the road when we will head towards the stability.

I read this news and was excited as well. But then just thought that crypto and Bitcoin itself has too much controversy in people's minds so I think that a huge company like Starbucks wouldn't risk its reputation in order to use 'a disputable paying method'.

Good news but bitcoin does not seems recovering in the market. So I suggest all to hold your coins for few months. If you find good profit and then you can sell or invest on any project. If you bitcoin and thinking to exchange it for altcoins also do not do that mate.

Now we can have coffee with paying on bitcoin. Hopefully wanna see more companies and government should accept bitcoins.

If this will happen soon in our country, that would be great! Many people here love's coffee from starbucks! Another thing, I'm really looking forward for btc to be accepted here in our country. Most people here usually think of BTC as some sort of pyramid or ponzi scams. They just lack the knowledge about it that's why they think of it that way.

Starbucks is a well known company across countries. Bitcoin has gain popularity this past few years, but clearly it still has a lot of issues.

One thing I see is if starbuck also charge us the transaction fees. It will cost more of course but surely starbucks' coffee prices won't adjust just to accomodate few crypto users. For now at least.

Yeah nope !
Bitcoin as a payment for a cup of coffee is not worth the fee !
Bitcoin's fee need to lower and transaction speed needs to faster

That's right! Bitcoin is currently difficult to become a payment method. First, because of price uncertainty, second, it is slow to transfer. Third, most countries currently ban digital currency, such as China.

I'm sure if bitcoin has stable prices, maybe in the future large companies like Starbuck can accept bitcoin payments. this happens because there is a positive side of bitcoin that is easy to use for payment only the price cannot be stable.

And won't a trusted custodian like a bank maybe increase trust but erode what the system is based on?

Strictly speaking, it will, in a sense. Bitcoin was meant as a peer-to-peer electronic cash system. Satoshi's white paper says one of the reasons why Bitcoin might be necessary was to eliminate the need for third party trust, specifically singling out payment processors. Using a third party payment processor for Bitcoin payments obviously goes against that, no matter which way you look at it.

On the other hand, at the end of the day, using it with a payment processor is still a choice. It doesn't diminish Bitcoin's functionality as a peer-to-peer electronic cash system as it could still be used freely that way. Bitpay et al. exist now and are very popular, but Bitcoin is still Bitcoin. We still get to take care of our own money and our transactions are still immutable.

With bitcoin's volatility, businesses will have second thoughts of accepting bitcoin. But there are also reasons for businesses to accept bitcoin. You can check on the link below.
