https://steemit.com/bitcointalk/@bayareacoins/bitcointalk-mods-probably-mostly-mpreps-are-deleting-any-thread-that-has-a-steemit-link-here-s-what-we-need-to-do-in-order-to

As some of you may know... Steemit is currently under attack by at least one Bitcointalk mod.  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.15717789

They are currently deleting any and all post that contain a Steemit link.  We need to act swiftly on this if we want to prevent further attacks.

Here is what you need to do:

Write and tell Mprep to please consider only deleting spam and not removing "good links"!
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/mprep-51173 (actually tell them to please consider not deleting steemit post with substance)

Write Theymos and ask him to hold Mprep responsible for blindly deleting posts such as: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.15863107 (use this link for an example)

Write SaltySpitoon and ask him to please give up his Global Mod position and come back to the altcoin forums!
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/saltyspitoon-38894 (it won't happen, but he's a funny guy to PM anyways!)

Now is a time we need to come together as a community and demands that we don't be thrown in the trash can blindly!

yup, he deleted all of my steemit tutorials. It's okay to delete mindless self promo, but not contextual addtions.

I think it is a good idea to stop using this thread to promote posts. It could easily been seen as spam on the forum.

I have no authority at all here, but I'm making a friendly suggestion/request to use this thread to discuss Steem not promote links.

I guess it was decided for us. Any post I made that even quoted someone with a steemit link just got deleted by the mods.

A reply of yours, quoted below, was deleted by a Bitcoin Forum moderator. Posts are most frequently deleted because they are off-topic, though they can also be deleted for other reasons. In the future, please avoid posting things that need to be deleted.

Edit: This shows the beauty of steemit actually. Whether or not I think it was right, mods cant just selectively delete posts on steemit since there are no mods, and every post is written in the blockchain for eternity.

I totally agree with you smooth. I promoted a post, and felt a little dirty about it afterwards. It was just hard not to when you see a post/poster that deserves some attention that they are not getting, and the only other place is steem chat(which does not really help).

I posted this last week, but no one paid it mind so I left it alone.

I think we need to make a separate "Post Promotion" sub-thread. This is getting ridiculous in my opinion.

Steemit not coin mining
steemit only coin in distrubuted with use social media microblogging same and equal twitter
but steemit can get reward

There is mining but you don't get liquid coins you a sell directly on an exchange. You get Steem Power which increases your voting power on the site. It can be cashed out, but very slowly (two years).

Hello! Me and friend of mine developed solution for drag&drop images directly to the Steemit post. We implemented steemimg.com to be the window near the submit post field in a one chrome application. Please, check it out:

SIP - Lost Password Recovery

Losing your password has been an unrecoverable sin for cryptocurrency users. The root of the problem is that anyone with the power to reset your password also has the power to steal your account.

Steem's account recovery process can help you recover your account only if you know a password from the last 30 days. This can help you recover if you forget it shortly after changing your password, but doesn't help in cases where your password is gone for ever.

Proving a Negative

It is impossible to prove a negative. Namely, it is impossible to prove that you lost your password. All you can do is prove that you "didn't lose" your password.

One thing we do know is that the probability of a lost password increases with time. This means that in theory abandoned or inactive accounts are likely to be "lost" and the funds unrecoverable.

Identity Verification

Account recovery depends upon a 2nd factor of identity verification. Typically this second factor is trusted by the account holder to not collude with the hacker, but is not trusted enough to have control over the funds. Furthermore, few organizations would want the liability of having authority to reset your password.

Compromise

Allow your account recovery agent to request a change in account ownership after 60 days of inactivity with the active key. Once the request is made, the owner of the account has another 30 days to use their active key and "cancel" the request.

Any account can "opt-out" of password recovery which would disable this feature and make the account holder fully liable.

Security Analysis

Changing a lost owner key is the equivalent of the Recovery Agent hacking your owner key and then colluding with the hacker to change your account while denying you the ability to recover your account.

The recovery agent would have no opportunity to hack your account if you remain active once every 60 days, and then you have 30 days to react to a corrupt recovery agent before any funds are at risk.

All told, if you lose your password and go through this process it will take 3 months to get your account back. For accounts with significant value / reputation it will clearly be worth the wait.

I'm a bit torn between posting links to steemit articles here and not posting them. On one hand, some may consider them spams, on the other, it doesn't happen often and if may help readers find interesting (but sometimes invisible) content. What do you guys think about that?

Just signup successfully used my FB account to signup, nice clean interface and good earning potential will try to blog atleast once daily.

A bit of advice. You will need to promote your posts somehow. If you are writing on well known topics try to get links out there on Twitter and other social media to generate discussion. Try to cultivate a relationship with the higher power voters (not just whales but dolphins too), not necessarily to influence their votes, but so they know you exist at all.

A big issue with the site right now is there is a huge amount of content and few useful features for finding anything. So many new bloggers will just post and do nothing else, and then be disappointed when they don't get a lot votes (its usually because no one even saw their posts).

I just sign up with my fb too, just wondering what I need to do for earning?

keep posting? leave comments? votes?

Get people to know you (and your posts) exist. There are many posts on the site, including some good ones, that no one knows about so they don't get votes. How you do that sort of promotion is up to you, but it is almost essential unless you already have some kind of following and can bring them along to the platform

Not all votes count the same. Vote weight differs depending how much money each voter has invested in the platform. This prevents, say, 100 bots with zero money backing their votes rigging the system. It's more of a "put your money where your mouth is" type of voting system.

So if you get 100 votes by people with not much investment it may not count as much as 10 votes with people that have a small investment.

Note that this investment is not necessarily acquired by putting money in. It is also automatic by the fact that all article rewards are split in two: Half the money you get in steem dollars (liquid) and another half in steem power (which is the invested part).

So, if you make an article and I upvote you (I have ~1500 steem power), you'll get 0.03$. And when you get them, you can liquidate 0.015 and the other 0.015 will be invested so that you can have some voting power as well. Something like that (I've left out curation percentages to simplify it)
