The worst part of this to me is that Micon is taking the sting for simply being brave enough to admit what he was doing. As far as I can tell, he merely put a friendly face and a front door onto an otherwise anonymous business. Anyway, I'm just saying that I hope that the silent partners from seals with clubs who stayed anonymous and are completely off the hook are going to be paying micons fees and his rent and whatnot for a long time.
Nevertheless, it seems that things could have been a lot worse for Micon so in that sense there is good news here. The man gets to stay with his family and avoid jail.
I agree, it sucks that he's being kinda forced to plead guilty and take the full wrap just because he was the only one involved with the site that was publicly known. But I respect that he didn't try to clear himself by turning on the others.
Overall considering the worst case scenario I am happy for Micon and his family.
Thats great. Don't know if I should congratulate him , but this is definitely much better than jail time or the punishment he could have got, looking at the trend for laws against cases involving bitcoin. Any word from him , if he will leave US again to operate the site from Antigua ?
Probation terms will probably limit his travel. Even if he was allowed to travel during that period, it probably wouldn't be to do exactly what he's on probation for doing.
He hasn't made any statements, but for now I'm sure that he will remain there at least during the probationary period. And the site will continue to be run by the other team members.
could they at least give him his microphone back? i miss donkdown.... and then he could go on the air and criticize the NGC like Ace Rothstein in Casino.
Yeah, I know that it kills him that he hasn't been able to do DD or even post on Twitter recently.
I imagine his lawyers will still advise him to keep staying quiet during this time... but once it's settled and he's completely clear I think he'll bring it back and we'll get some fun stories.
