Good morning Phoenix.

I should add that I'm running my machine in a bit lower temps as well (closer to 60 reported, hard to say if it makes a big difference in 0.98, in 0.95 it was a huge difference for my machine from ~60 to ~70), so we have a dwindle down in both "cold" (present mine) and "hot" machines (yours and waterboi).

and Yeah... I do notice the "Dwindledown" overnight....

+1

Wonder if the unnoficial 0.98.1 does anything about it.
Oooohhh....Mornin FeedBack...
I sure hope there's a 0.99 in the works...yeah....
Wonder if they even know what causes that..?
It's got me baffled.

edit... Eligius stats page down again....
and again....
and again....
seems to be the norm for eligius...
but I sure like that doggone graph... it makes an excellent diagnosis/monitoring tool.. Smiley

any jupiter owners running .98 notice that the hashrate is highest when you do a poweroff cycle and reboot, it will hit 565-575gh/s at the pool and then after running for a while the pool listed hash rate will get progressively lower, i dip at 490gh/s

any idea why this is?

This is exactly what happens to mine, maybe even lower, 470, 460... no idea why  Huh
did you ever try 70-75C? after enablecores, on 0.98?

24 hours later.. my 3 sats are 850 at the pool on 12 hour average!
that's 283 each, which is exactly what they show on cgminer!

what are your temp readings? how are your fans/case set up? im thinking of following you, doing enable core, and rebooting and then putting case on upside down to raise the temps a bit and see if i still get a down slide in hashes over time with higher temps.

at the moment, all 6 boards(3 sats) are between 69-73C, no case fans whatsoever, heatsink fans only. cases off, stacked, with cardboard partially blocking the fans airflow into the heatsink, like this...

All running 0.98 with enablecores over top
this is for night-time basically, because it gets downright chilly in here.
During the day, I can remove the cardboard, and they stay around 70
Ive tried several times to leave them off... but if they drop below those
temps by more than about 5 degrees, I see a drop in my rates, and can
see one one miner loose about 6 cores, and another loose two...
then they take forever to come back, like 6-8 hours!
I have one miner that is super-rock solid, one a tad finicky,
and one super-sensitive finicky, don't breathe near me kind
Also, It may just be my imagination, but they seem to work better
while its raining outside(high humidity)

thanks for sharing, phoenix!
i can confirm that after putting my case on entirely and raising the temp by about 8-9 degrees my hashrate has remain steady back in the 550-570gh/s on btcguild pool readings.

You're mighty welcome...
and Yeah... I do notice the "Dwindledown" overnight....
That's the final thing I'd like to "nip in the butt" hope they are working on it...
I too find myself re-booting about every morning & eve to retain those peaks...

So, going back to the context of that reply, you're mining for food/debts?

No... Still anyone alive have to eat. Guess what? They need to pay the food with fiat money, otherwise they will have to depend on people's good will to survive.

What are you mining for?

I'll tell you what I'm not mining for:

I did not pay thousands of dollars to get a magic printing money machine that I'm counting on to pay my bills and to survive (even if I have to admit I did my best to treat it as an investment, reason why I didn't buy BFL early in the year or anything incredibly stupid like that).

And here's what I think the real drive for mining is:

Sorry, I meant the Sierra (3rd batch) for $6k, but I'm even surprised that the Jupiter (being a very new unit) wouldn't ever give a ROI.  So if this is true even you experienced miners are constantly buying new hardware all the time.. your fancy new units at best will be obsolete after a few months?  Sorry, I'm just trying to get my mind around this.  Even if profit isn't your only concern, this seems like a pretty crazy arms race.

People pay tons of money for backyard greenhouses and perfect soil to grow a few over priced tomatoes. Wouldn't they get more tomatoes for the same money at the store? Even bio-eco-super tomatoes? Sure! It's the same drive for miners.

The only people benefiting monetarily from mining are the ASIC manufacturers and... Bitcoin USERS!

Why would anyone want to convert a promising sound currency for an exponentially-printed-to-oblivion/give-inflation-to-bankers-enslave-everyone-else/no-control-over-your-money corrupt currency?

Good for you, no? You may buy more promising sound currency cheap...

Yeah, because my goal with that comment was to manipulate exchange rates higher.  Roll Eyes

Seems like I'm turning into troll bait. I'll make an effort to reduce my number of posts for the sake of this heavily trashed thread.

Because in the real world utility bills, financial contracts, tax obligations, etc. are paid with... Fiat money?

Your "promising sound currency" is just that, a promise which did not became reality (yet?), while your "exponentially-printed-to-oblivion/give-inflation-to-bankers-enslave-everyone-else/no-control-over-your-money corrupt currency" is what everyone in all civilized nations use to pay their debts.

Thanks for sharing.

Care about any technical explanation and background info why this exactly might help, how it might help and what side effects are possible?

I meant to say he replaced a mal-functioning/missing component, that it was not a mod to help. Yeah, resistance is probably a lot easier to change than a DC/DC. Good job nonetheless Amolina and thanks for sharing.

I do not speak of replacing the module dc / dc is very complicated. The module in my saturn was not broken. A protective resistor is the one that was burned. I have encontado that breakdown in my Saturn and then put a new one is running at 100%.

Quitando el estaño con el Flux de soldar
Removing the tin welding Flux

I soldered the capacitor des plus accidentally missed it. I have put one of substituting an arbitrary value. I do not think it's a critical value. The capacitor is a decoupling capacitor. The resistance is 1 ohm 1% tolerance. I guess that this resistance is a fuse to protect the circuit (short circuit).

It was posted here before. He had a busted DC/DC and replaced it.

Would you mind about posting the link to the previous post containing those details, please ?
Thanks.

edit:
* as far as I can remember the post did not contain such things, just the 'how to'

**maybe I do mix this up with another guy playing around and posting quite similar pics ?
I can remember some electrical resistance I do not see on those pics

just hope we don't see a "toboggan run" down this steep slope when everyone xfers their BTC to USD in a panic to get ROI back.

There are people who-need-to-pay-bills-in-USD-and-dont-holding-much-USD-anymore.

I agree, spend USD first, but when you dont have more, you need to use BTC  Smiley

there are ~3.600BTC a day, imagine the impact each and every miner would really sell all mined coins each day

..exactly, it won't matter at all as it would be 10-15% of coins transfered in 1h, stop hunting ghosts
