Those Neptunes wont be released till day 1 of Q3. Remember the Jupiter "September" delivery. They were delivered mid Oct even though as of Sept 20th they still claimed to be making the September shipping. The same thing will happen with the Neptunes.

Why would they sell them a day sooner than they have to instead of using them to mine?

Simple answer: Because they are not you.

Complicated answer: Because they are not as devoid of moral as some people like to believe (not to say they have high moral).  Because their data center is already full of 1st gen modules and they can always built more Neptune chips until they don't have room/space/power, so why risk giving out more refund? Because it off-load the risk of not ROI and Bitcoin price drop to the customers, better to get instant income now rather than trying to earn 10%-20% extra over 6-12 months period.

Glow Stick Dance!
Anyone emailed them and asked if they are going to burn in their products this time round? Or do they intend to ship 1000's of faulty boards again?

If their competition are promising 24hr burn in, you'd expect kfc to at least do the 5 minute burn they promised lied forgot about in October

Dude, they're already burning in their equipment in their datacenter. It'll be good and cooked when they announce "Due to unforeseen, eh BS, circumstances we will not be delivering hardware machines. However! We will give each customer 3T of hosted miners for a generous 6 months. (smug look of how gracious they are) After that we'll charge the low, low fee of $500 a month. They'll announce that at the end of Q2, so wait for it.

For those that haven't figured it out kfc doesn't care about the NPS or any other crap they have fed us. They ... are ... liars.

Whatever KnC said earlier in the NPS, the CA Neptunes were "Q1/Q2" shipping. Therefore they aren't late until 1st July.

Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer my Neptune tomorrow...(I really hope they ship soon). I'm just saying that it was crystal clear when we pre-ordered that it was "Q1/Q2" shipping.

for me this means Q1 AND Q2 ; not or.

Q1 for first Batch , Q2 for following Batches.

maybe

Q1 for first half of Batch 1, Q2 for the rest.

That's ... just silly.

KnC said CA batch and batch 1 would be Q1/Q2 delivery, with CA batch 3 to 4 weeks before batch 1. That means for CA batch and batch 1 to not be late, both must be shipped no later than June 30 or they are late. For further drill down detail, CA batch must ship at the beginning of June (or earlier) to allow time for that 3 to 4 week shipping ahead of batch 1.

Regardless, KnC better be providing such a fantastic additional benefit to their loyal customers who purchased from CA batch and batch 1, that there's no question those same customers will get a decent ROI, because if they don't, the reputation bashers will have been proven correct and KnC will have earned the same stripes as BFL and Josh.

KnCMiner Network Protection Statement
At KnCMiner we are aware of the service we are providing to our customers. We are also aware that we need our customers to have a return on their devices in order to purchase form us again. With the scale of the supply chains, agreements and factories we have access to, we need to be cautious we don’t ship too many devices and therefore reduce the return to our customers.  So with that in mind our plan is to do as follows:

We will ship no devices in December 2013, January 2014 or  February 2014. Meaning that once we have taken the difficulty up at the end of November we will not release any more hashing power for 3 months. We will then release our new generation of devices, which will begin shipping in March 2014. These devices will also have a much higher GH/$ rating than any of our current offerings.
We would like to state that If any of our competitors continues to add large amounts of hashing power to the network during December, January or February. We will continue to release our devices as competitively priced as we can to protect our customers share of the network.
The Fact is:
As of April 1, KNC will be delay in delivery of Neptunes

Doesn't that statement predate the announcement of Neptunes?
It certainly doesn't form any part of the contract you agreed with KNC.

KnC itself, has also been associated with the statement after the announcement of the Neptunes.
and it thus verified to be valid

To repeat: It certainly doesn't form any part of the contract you agreed with KNC.

I'd love that to be true mate, but I think you would be in a minority of one who considered Q1/Q2 to mean that, for most of the world it means somewhere between Q1, Q2 and WTF Smiley

We're never getting Neptunes shipped to us.  We'll be offered hosted mining on June 30th (via Jupiters) and not a single day before.

And no, I'm not taking any bets.

Neptune Sold out
12/14/2013 6:06:00 PM

All,

Our first round Neptune products has now sold out.

We will be working with all of our suppliers to arrange another round of components so please keep an eye on our shop for future shipments of Neptune.

As it looks like our struggling competition may eventually ship before our Network protection period has finished, we may be in a position to release Jupiter’s and possibly upgrade cards which we will ship from stock.

If we do have more items to place in the shop for our 28nm range, we will announce this via one of our newsletters which will contain the time and date that they will go on sale. So keep some coins handy as we expect them to go quick.

Thanks

According to KnC's news announcements by email to customers then to news postings on their web site, originally they said:

Customer appreciation batch ("CA") was to ship Q1/Q2 with first open to public ordering batch shipping 3 to 4 weeks after CA batch shipped. Call those CA batch and batch 1 respectively.

Batch 2 was to ship Q2 but only after CA and batch 1 had already shipped, most likely 4 weeks after batch 2.

This means for batch 1 to ship in a timely matter in line with their statements it cannot ship later than the end of Q2, which is June 30. That means the latest CA batch can ship is the first week of June, allowing 3 to 4 weeks prior to shipping. If they stick to their emailed and public statements, KnC will move up the shipping of CA batch to some time in May, followed by batch 1 also some time in May, with batch 2 shipping in June.

KnC probably won't agree, but shipping CA batch any time later than first part of may makes them late, in my opinion.

No, shipping CA on June 30th, batch 1 on July 30th and batch 2 on August 30th would make batches 1 and 2 late, but batch CA on time.

If their competition are promising 24hr burn in, you'd expect kfc to at least do the 5 minute burn they promised lied forgot about in October

I suggested they do a 24 hour burn in at a minimum, using the customer supplied pool information so they're not mining with customer equipment, strictly speaking, but of course no response nor comment from KnC.

When/if they ever ship Neptune, hopefully they've learned from the bad board problems from previous production runs and will do a burn in test before shipping. It's better for the customers and long term better for the manufacturer having fewer support and RMA issues.

any news from nepture?

when the first pre order batc of nepture must delivered?

30th June
Can someone please help me to recall this and check my dates below?

My recollection is that Neptune batch 1 (Customer Appreciation batch) was:
1) Delivery Q1/Q2, so 30th June.
2) Delivered 2 weeks before batch 2, which was also Q1/Q2, ie 2 weeks before 30th June, so 16th June.

Can someone tell me if batch 3 was also Q2, and how many weeks after batch 2?

If batch 3 was Q2, and 2 weeks after batch 2, then batch 1 must ship 4 weeks before batch 3, so 2nd June.

Conclusion: batch 1 must ship on 2nd June.

There is no batch 3 yet, nor has there been a batch 3. There is has only been the introductory offer to KNC Miner customers, then batch 1 and batch 2 pre-orders.

No matter what you call it, CA or otherwise, there is no batch 3. There is only CA, B1 and B2 that's all. Likely though the CA and B1 units will manufactured at the same time together but we'll only know this once Neptune's start to ship. For all we know they could ship the entire lot of them a he same time. Smiley
