Me too much better with 0.99.1 than 0.99.2

I haven't seen a difference in speed between 0.99.1 & 0.99.2 It just added features and security.

With all of this hash-power coming online -- when are we going to get an update on Neptune?

We are only 13 days into Q1. My son, you have a much longer wait. Months.

My friends and I bought a large order of ASIC boards/chips and finally everything is built. I'm going from 555Gh/sec to 5Th/sec. And since the electricity is all on a generator paid for by the building owners they could care less filling that thing with diesel everyday. The party starts now! Since I really won't need my Saturn/Jupiter anymore maybe I'll auction it off. Fine running machine.

Lucky you! Smiley

What chips/boards did you get hold of?

I have no idea. I was basically the "money" in this venture. They needed me and I needed them. Their the experts in building everything, even doing some of their programming. I've been waiting for over a year on this because it was so hard to get the ASIC chips I was told...but they finally were delivered. Having a native Chinese guy on the team who has family in China really helps a lot!

What's up with this new firmware? 99.2-tune? I applied it and I'm hashing 10-15 Gh/sec lower. Oouch.

"-tune" should give a clue.....  tune it! ......every asic is different

Yea, right. With no official documentation or limits I'm going to fool around with that. I was doing just fine on .99 firmware and I think I'm going to flash back to that. I was at a steady 560Gh/sec which I could live it.

The NPS _is_ to protect customers from themselves. It's not that hard to figure out: if they never stopped production, we'd all be making less money right now, due to difficulty. Huh

Well, BFL delayed shipping due to overheating of a component the datasheet of which clearly stated if overheating it's due to using the wrong FETS.  So there was a long delay in shipping but there were operational devices, buyers just weren't getting them.

Maybe that happened with Hashfast, I don't know I'm not searching it out to follow.

But there is one other way to eyewash customers while getting hashing out to a select few - that's the ASICs themselves to customers buying the ASICs to put on their own boards.

There's a thread here about the design of a board for BFL ASIC chips.  That was above board and in the open.

KnC producing its ASIC module was key.  It worked and well.  KnC isn't presently shipping any miners.  But is KnC shipping any ASICs?  How does the sale of the ASIC ICs relate to network protection?

BFL never had a network protection statement but they did insist they would not openly sell ASIC chips until their pre-order miners were all shipped but that changed as their definition of pre-order status changed and sure enough ASICs were sold while pre-orders were outstanding causing quite a bit of distress to pre-order holders who hadn't yet gotten their miners.  And what happened when pre-order holders were forced into pre-order Monarch orders instead of their original purchase?  The magical hashrate rise is due to the addition of new miners with ASICs from somewhere.

It's hard to get on track when there is 0 info coming from the company. Until then, the monkeys are in the driver's seat.

KNC MUST SELL TO PREVIOUS CUSTOMERS ONLY
HOHOHOHOOH

Yes! I'm hoping for that too. Previous Jupiter customers only, not Neptune ones!

Back in July  2013  (6 months ago)  KnC  said   "We will ship no devices in December 2013, January 2014 or  February 2014. ......but maybe ........so we can to protect our customers share of the network."

This  helped KnC  bring in about $20,000,000  .  Since this promise was posted on the 18\7\2013  and stated December was the start date of the amnisty......the real challenge is that some of the New buyers purchased a Neptune partly because of this statement too . I think the umbrella has to be all past investors in KnC  should have a chance .

But with all btc mining there is still a high risk , especially if your just taking a short term view .............so crunch the numbers and dont risk anymore then you can afford to lose ........and have some BTC coins Handy    Grin

The customers that needs protecting and those mentioned by KnC are obviously Jupiter ones since Neptunes weren't present at the time of the statement. KnC never promised any kind of protection to Neptune customers. They will be protected anyhow with 5Th/2500W (wishful dreaming)

That statement was always absurd because miners own all sorts of equipment. They are protecting customers against themselves?

I agree ..............unless you only want to only  protect the one time buyers ..............As for the continous   long term  buyer\investors .........the only way to protect your self against the rising diff is to keep re-investing some of your profits ............if you dont (in this race ) you will get left behind.

For my money ..........The "statement" has caused much frustration and time\money . It hasn't protected anyone . I hope they never post another like it  ever . As a keen investor in KnC products , I think it cost me money .

KnC, please just keep making great machines and keep selling them ........ if you want to protect your original customer base  ...........just sell to them alone .............that would be the only true protection you could offer me .

Peace

Knc may already be manufacturing the batch of Jupiters they plan to sell in late January / early February.

They can manufacture them now, mine with them for a couple of weeks, and then sell at a huge profit.

The first rigs indeed did not make $70,000 and I'll keep that opinion until someone can proove it. I don't see how it is possible. Yea, Bitcoin did reach $1k but it certainly didn't stay there.

IF someone who got the first Jupiter, mined with no issues, sold their ~45btc @$1150 then sold their miner for 18btc (and sold right away) then they made over $70k (less price of miner)

doubt anyone did that

Or sold the miner at $25,000 or more. It really isn't out the realm of possibility, just takes a quick decision or two. I know people did it, I know one for sure. Opentoe claiming that it is impossible is nonsense, and calling someone a liar because of it is even worse. He's just jealous that he only got a saturn and didn't buy a bunch of jupiters. Probably didn't sell the thing either.

we ordered 10 jupiters (first batch) got 11, sold 5 for 64 btc each, mined 200, sold the remaining 6 for 190; made 25% profit in btc. thank you knc for best deal of lifetime.

edit: typo

Wow, great job! Mind if I asked where/how you sold them? Eventually, I'd like to sell mine too - but am not sure the best way to avoid scams.

The safest place to sell them is on this forum on the relevant board.  Make sure they've paid in full with BTC before shipping.  Although members of this forum are amongst the most savvy ASIC buyers.  You'll get more selling them on eBay.  Tho then you risk PayPal chargeback fraud.

As difficulty is rising and we are all sitting on our hands waiting for KNC to get off the stick and sell some more hardware its getting a bit frustrating.

The video said they would sell more, is it happening? If so when?
Yeah, frustrating waiting on a definitive answer... but with that video of CES and Alex, I'd say Absolutely! He said late Jan/Early Feb... I believe him!
