Good to see the Neptunes sell out.  I decided against purchasing one, I think I'll go for 3rd generation KNCs.  Great company to deal with.  A complete pleasure compared to some of the other nightmarish manufacturers out there.

3rd gen stuff will be commercial....might not be suitable for you dude.

Has this been confirmed?

well knc stated the neptune will be their last consumer device...

I'm just going to put this out there, but I got a gut feeling that if Hashfast deliver in December, and its looking like they will, depending on how "substantial" it is then KnC may do another batch of Jupiters. Cheesy

Their policy was not to produce any more batches in December 2013, January 2014 or  February 2014 unless any of their competitors add large amounts of hashing power to the network during the same period.

Hopefully, if they do, they will be comparable in price to their competition i.e. <$4K

I believe KNC is geared-up already and just waiting for the competition to release.

But... and here's the kicker... KNC will be shipping only Jupiters (no Saturns)from stock or with a very short build time.  Remember, no one else will be shipping orders made today until March/April at the soonest.  Therefore KNC will be pricing accordingly, easily double your $4000 guesstimate.

Bitfury did the same thing.  30GH/s boards were $500 two months ago but are now $1000 each.

Hash power today is worth MUCH more than hash power in 3 or 4 months.  And no, the cost to produce a product has no bearing on its price as long as there is a demand for that item.

Not sure really depends, Bitfury had zero competition (KnC had stopped shipping), they also had a LOT of people with semi populated rigs who need those extra blades.

By the time KnC does a January or February batch HF will have been in full swing with 500Gh/s BJ's at $2250 and there is a likelyhood that Cointerra & Blackarrow will be shipping and selling their $6K 2TH miners.

Of course its all dependent on "if" they ship.

Bitfury has no competition right now?  Not true.  ASICMiner Cube, Avalon Mini, BFL Single (yes, really!) and the awesome BitMain AntMiner are all shipping now or with just a little lead time.  That's competition!  Not to mention all of the Bitfury and Avalon clone makers.

Sure HF, Cointerra, BlackArrow, etc. may finally be shipping their first, possibly second batch preorders but they won't be shipping from stock and KNC possibly could.  You'll still have to wait a couple of months if you order a HashFast or Cointerra at that time.  So if you want a Jupiter at that very instant, you'll pay through the ass for it.  I guarantee it!

Neptunes all sold out!

Noooooooooo,   it's official ALL GONE  Cry Cry Cry

why so sad?

doesnt that mean they can get started?

KNC isn't going to do a damn thing this year that has anything to do with Neptune other than take people's money. With holiday schedules coming up and New Years, it is almost impossible to get anything done. They'll start working on Neptune from scratch in January, hence such a huge delivery date window. If you can't figure out when you can ship a product on a 6 month time line then its a fact there will be problems and issues.

Especially one who treated me so well.
That really does make all the difference vs getting faulty gear and no help.
ever heard of RMA?  All you had to do was call them if you had a "faulty rig"
Those who did, got replacements, most in record time.

I'm on my second RMA, and by RMA I mean RMA for the first RMA I got.
You RMA'd your RMA?  Wow. That's bad luck man.
Suspicious too somehow...  that there may be another problem you're not seeing maybe... but who knows....
That sucks.....  hope you get it worked out.

KnC's network protection program is quite inferior to BFLs. BFL have been protecting the network for like 18 months now Smiley

Best quote of year.

It's Friday 13th, time for something spooky:

https://hashfast.com/hashfast-announces-fastest-bitcoin-mining-chip-in-the-world/

500GH/s on a single chip.

And they expect to get more.

If they can get it up to 750GH/s (i.e. 3TH/s on 4 boards), they will have acheived now what KNC are promising 7 months from now  Grin

Sure nice improvments, they come quite late, though. Batch1 BJ customer have paid 50 btc for one unit long time ago. Just saying...
Q2 begins in 3 months, 2 weeks.... not seven months... and the ststement said q1/q2, so could be sooner.
I did hear good things about BA.... but HF?
no sense in exaggerating things... aren't they the same noobs that couldn't even secure substrates for their chips?
Until another company can physically show me a better deal.... They get a facepalm from my wallet.
and BTW... There's no such thing as a "perfect" first run in asic preorders.
You can expect BA & HF....and CT...to experience the same "Growing pains" as everyone else....
just like they've already shown. Anything else, and you're delusional.

Visit their sites, and you see statements like "TerraMiner IV is currently the most powerful, high-performance Bitcoin mining rig available for pre-order."(CT) NOT TRUE

and...  "HashFast Announces Fastest Bitcoin Mining Chip in the World!"...  uh huh...

And the new marketing manager for KNC steps in to set the ship straight.
I wish, lol. They don't need any marketing though...  the products would sell without any advertising at all.
Can you imagine how hard it would be to order a KNC device if they were actually advertised on TV or PCmags?
We would all be like you.... FUKT!  Cheesy

I don't think the Jupiter was ever advertised as upgradable, that was on Mercs & Sats.

It's the main advertising bullet point overarching their entire product page. It's still there, over the Neptune product as well.

It was indeed not meant for Jupiters, and yes they could have limited that to merc & sat owners, but theres no way anyone guessed that so many Jupiter owners would have snagged up the boards so boldly....
...
Things like this happen... I call it Murphy's Law.

That's absolute penguin poop. No, it wasn't "meant" for them, but there were indeed ways to limit the product. It's not about guessing who would've snagged them up. KNC told Mercury/Saturn owners they would get the chance for the boards. KNC then claimed they had no idea how to offer it to just them so they figured they'd just let the wolves have at it. Which is childish.

It's this little thing called "running a database" and setting flags. All they had to do is what they're doing now--limit sales to previous owners of the product for X amount of time. What they wanted all along is a firesale. For them to say they had no idea how to do it.. is absolute garbage.

It would be equivalent to them saying they wanted previous customers to have first dibs on the Neptune, but couldn't figure out how to do that, so they just gave the discount to the first 1,200 customers.
I see it...  That certainly needs corrected.    That has been there since Merc & Sat, which are now gone...it needs updated.

and I do recall saying the board issue was an oversight btw....  i agree with you, just they are human and thats where Murphy's Law kicks in....
nothing is perfect in this world, but they are trying to make up for it... and I appreciate that!

Neptunes are down to 32/1200 left up for sell.

Seems they will have sold out 1200 x 12,995.00 = WOW

I dont quite understand that either. Even if people assume Neptune will do 4TH, BA prospero X3 would cost the same per TH and in all likelihood will be delivered  several months earlier.

Sure, Neptune might be more power efficient, but only if KnC delivers significantly better performance per watt than they claim and/or BA delivers worse performance per watt than they claim, because BA states 0.5 W per GH at the chip level (lets assume that works out to 0.7W at the wall) while KnC is saying 30% better than Jupiter. If Im not mistaken, Jupiter does around 1.1W/GH currently? A 30% improvement over that is ~0.8W. ON paper they are pretty much on par, with arguably BA having a slight advantage.

Even if you assume KnC will be one or two tenths of a watt more efficient per GH, if that is more important than mining several months earlier, then you are in trouble. @4000GH and $0.15/KWH, a 0.1W/GH better efficiency works out to 0.4KW * 0.15 = $0.06 per hour, or $43 per month. One day that will matter, but if that is significant next spring, and more significant than mining a few months earlier, good luck earning back those $13000.

Of course it could be 5.5TH and BTC could be at $2K by then, who knows, who knew that KnC's 350GH/s Jupiter would end up at 650GH/s and BTC up from $100 to $1000? Its a risky game thats for sure. But I've made back what I spent on my Oct batch and managed to mine enough to buy a Nov batch, which has also paid itself off, and a Neptune and still have coins in the bank after paying the electricity, so for me thats all good Smiley

Now this is interesting, I've often wondered about that lucky $1000 price that managed to make KNC miners profitable. What if bitcoin stayed a $100? I assume people are convinced that a Neptune will be profitable, but I certainly hope they are not banking on another super price rise.

November is not mercury model
Only Jupiter and Saturn
So I think must make ours own extra ports
Or knc find a easy way to make it for us
Several in here have done it with success, and posted it.
Don't expect KNC to support adding boards to a Jupiter though,
again, they were not sold as upgradable.
-and- november boards are not compatible with october controllers.
I would expect the upgrade boards to be sold for october sats & mercs...
I'm not sure about november saturn? I actually don't recall seeing that.
If there was, they would be sold as separate upgrade board products... one for novembers, one for octobers...etc...

I hope knc ships out another few ph of jupiters and modules from stock, then releases the 16TH/s Neptune on time... That would be how you destroy the late / never shipping competition!

Also what bugs me is they constantly advertise their products as modular/upgradeable -- but offer no upgrades/modules.

I don't think the Jupiter was ever advertised as upgradable, that was on Mercs & Sats.
there were enough upgrade boards produced to fufill that.
The rest is history....shoulda coulda woulda....  yeah.
It was indeed not meant for Jupiters, and yes they could have limited that to merc & sat owners, but theres no way anyone guessed that so many Jupiter owners would have snagged up the boards so boldly.... especially since most controllers had 4 data ports, not 6. Many people are savvy enough to add their own ports, and did...  I applaud their assertiveness.
Things like this happen... I call it Murphy's Law.
It was an awesome testament to the demand of the product, and they're making more boards to make sure others that didn't get the chance....do.
That's golden.  A huge statement saying they care IMHO
I'll be after one of those "off the shelf" Jupiters myself....

Oyeah...  Where is HF & CT again? Hahahahaaaa
