So who is annoyed that they bought a neptune at 12.0X BTC when the going rate is around 10.5 BTC right now/

You just do not spend Bitcoins to buy mining gear.

Did you know that I bought a 30GH/s BFL miner for almost 60 coins, that just arrived and mines 0.02BTC per day? How about that? You will think its an extreme example, but in reality that's how it plays out 90% of the times.

Nothing beats the growth potential of BTC, once you have them HOLD unless you are cashing out profits.

Does Knc only accepts Bitcoins as a payment method for their Neptune?

No bank transfers also,  let me know if you would like to place an order as I am a prior customer and can order it.

Any logical guesses to how much a Neptune could mine?

Also sorry buddy but if the coin price crashes next year is not a justifiable excuse for a company to stomach that cost. That's your risk to take buddy. So the decision is yours...

You realize that by saying that you imply that a refund in case of btc crash is not guaranteed?

Buying this now with BTC locks you in at 850$/btc

if the BTC price crashes, you can get a refund

if the price stays the same, get the miner

you forgot to mention the third scenario: BTC at 2K$ by the time you get your Neptune...
Still makes Money.

sure, but a lot less then what you would have done if you kept your btc in your wallet.

One should weight the 3 options and then decide. the fact is that probably a 3TH/s machine in April will produce 0.3BTC a day (30PH/s net hash rate). 12/0.3 = 40 day, but bear in mind that diff increase every 12 days or so buy an unknown factor...

so, you're saying my Merc with an upgrade module will only be making .028btc/day next April.  Bummer.  And almost $10k is too rich for my blood.

I can not and will not influence your decision, just that of course we want to underpromise and overdeliver, hence the statement in coinbase, and the fact this is 20nm we will allow for some ambiguity in timeline. This time round Sam has appeared to be generous enough to allow for the option of sleeping (except Marcus! he doesn't sleep, permanently hooked up to a caffeine intravenous drip). People have been burnt out, this is incredibly demanding, it's incredibly entertaining engineering working on the absolute edge, but one of the margins that has to be in place here is R&R so mentally everyone stays sharp. There were a number of issues that arose where upon "only if there was a little more time we could...", therefore the self imposed deadline will have a degree of flexibility, so people stay sane, and closer to the time it can be narrowed down and become more specific. That's just fair on us, no one can deny that.

Sure you can influence my decision Wink. There's nothing wrong with setting a schedule that doesn't burn out their team. The problem is the ambiguity. Q1/Q2 is a huge variance. If they need more time then that's fine, say Q2. Saying Q1/Q2 will lead many to believe there's a chance it will come in Jan when it might not come until June. Just doesn't feel right to me.

Yes of course I would not expect that which is why they should not claim to offer refunds up to date of production since they can not guarantee that will be possible. Again it doesn't feel right because it gives people a false sense of security and many will not realize the risk because of that claim.

Regardless I have been very impressed with KNC's performance but will have to think hard on taking this gamble since the last one I made on my Jupiter did not work out (my fault, not KNC's) and that was with more concrete information.

10.5 BTC?  BitPay doesn't use BTCChina exchange rate!  It is about 11.5 right now.

Don't forget EU customers paid even more due to VAT.

I'd even be willing to send BTC to people if I get enough confirmed referral sales for a miner Cheesy

Cool down. Turn off the computer.  Relax.

If they open them to public, the price will be below 5 BTC.  Buy then.

Can't afford them. My best hope was getting a mercury module, but of course they went to all of the quick sharks. Just figured, since people are buying these like hotcakes, they could use a referral link lol.

I may have an early pre-order to sell. This all depends on whether KNC will release info or specs about power consumption or whether hosting will be made available.

At this time 30% less per GH/s from the old system 550Gh/s at 650Watts would make the 3TH unit close to 2500watts

Real engineers work with figures they know are applicable and will not promise anything unless they have a statistically significant reason to state otherwise.

Will they require a 20amp or more 220v connection, or? Any details you can pull from the KNC engineers would be helpful.

They estimated to be 0.7W/Gh, but based on previously underpromise/overdeliver, instead of 1.6W/Gh, it was less than 1W/Gh (chips only), so perhaps the real efficiency is 0.4 - 0.5W/Gh, but of course they won't come out and say since they want to leave room for error.

If btc goes to 10000 in a couple of days I think I'll jump in with 1 btc (if they are not sold out by then).

I know there's lots of folks looking to buy equipment.. if you are, consider using my referral link in my sig? I'd love to get in on this action, and unlike some folks, I haven't had the ability to buy truckloads of KNC gear Smiley

You think that is a hard pill to swallow. If history is any indicator, the trading volatility can make your price 14btc or 7btc in a span of a few hours Smiley
