Switzerland's tiny neighbour, Liechtenstein, is taking a leadership position with much bolder policies and a faster, more focused government that truly understands and embraces blockchain technology. For that reason, it truly deserves the title of "cryptocountry".

I think Switzerland will catch up eventually. BTC will go to moon. How do you think?

What will go to the moon, Switzerland? Will Switzerland will be now on the moon not earth?  Grin

Anycase i doubt that Switzerland wants to be a hub for crypto. Sure, they are looking forward and have some adoption but i think that they are not going to go crazy, they have enough wealth.

Well maybe they wanted to be a crypto hub to attract potential crypto companies to established their business operations there. Binance is already moving to Malta, but I'm sure that they have looked at other options like Switzerland.

About the wealth, there is no question about it, but nations thinks about their future. They need to be sustainable. And becoming a crypto hub where a lot of blockchain/crypto activity is centered around you, I'm sure that they can increase their wealth which can result on a more growing and sustainable economy.

Switzerland knows what it is doing. Several hundred years without war and good economy well that is a nice background.
If they acknowledge Bitcoin it will be huge. A big breakthrough will happen.

Yes. Switzerland is just doing what Switzerland has always done - keeping up with developments in order to ensure they remain a world class financial centre.

That's true and so this coupled with their banking secrets I guess will make them very powerful and a perfectly secured place to spend bitcoins or even access them online because their laws are flexible on financial matters and they wouldn't easily give you up.

Yes in many ways Switzerland has really been leading the way for the developed world on the crypto industry. Switzerland is still having a problem with crypto projects using non for profit foundations for essentially for profit token projects.

One of my work colleagues is in Switzerland and he tells me that they are already extremely crypto friendly. Zug seems to be the hub of activity and nowadays there are already many crypto companies basing themselves there.

So when is your country time to do so? In my country i think its not possible since my country not accept bitcoin as legal payment.
We can use bitcoin for online investment but not for online payment so no company build for this reason.

It might be come true because switzerland is one the powerful nation in world and their banking business is well known around the world and crytocurrency is being use in this country so they are trying to adopt crypto.

What do you mean switzerland will catch up? They are already in the top of it! Their ministry have already released guidelines to regulate certain ICOs. A total of $3Billion was made through ICOs last year and switz attracted like a quarter of it!

Those are great news, and it's the second time I see them today. It's good to see how positive news are now spreading out instead of the past fud news we where having. It's also mentioned there that they are interested in creating their own crypto currency. The same desire was expressed by many other countries, and I still don't know the effect this will have on bitcoin. It's still a centralized system, but it has the potencial to become better that the current one, because it will be more transparent. Let's see how it goes.

By the way, if you are interested in more positive news, check this thread, and participate there as well.

The point is to spread the good news, and fight fud.

Switzerland is a natural fit for cryptocurrencies. Swiss banks are famed for their safety, their currency is considered one of the most stable and their strict privacy laws made everybody happy. It is only recently that the global focus on money laundering has lessened the appeal of Swiss banks. If they carry over some of these attributes to the crypto world, it will become very popular.

After popular, it can be really good specially for them and bitcoin itself.
All impact will be to bitcoiners who patient waiting the bitcoin price and this is good news for us.

If I understood correctly, Switzerland wants to create its own cryptocurrency controlled by the bank. They will adopt blockchian to their needs and create e-franc as an electronic payment system to replace cash.

Switzerland is known for some time as a very friendly country when it comes to cryptocurrency, you can even pay your tax in BTC in town of Zug if I remember well and also buy BTC on machines for the purchase of railway tickets. But in this article there is no too much or at all mentioning of BTC,but the main theme is how will bank prevent some digital currencies to take place they have now.

Quote
The risk for central banks if they do not launch digital versions of their currencies is that they hand control of payment systems to a “wild west” private sector.

So that "wild west" is maybe BTC,and since they (banks) can not control BTC only way to stay in game is to create their own digital currency. But I think that BTC still has its future,it is first decentralized currency for people and because of that there is a huge interest in it.

This is good news but not many countries have this kind of position, if only ten or twenty big countries have this position when it comes to cryptocurrency, it will be a better world for the industry, no wonder countries that adapt cryptocurrency are technology driven.

it seems like everyone is doing it this days! so it seems like a possible thing that we see a new coin called Switzerland coin at some point. but i think it is just a short term hype and it will die off.

what will remain is the adoption of bitcoin which these decisions will help become bigger.

This will be an interesting and exciting race with Japan. But whoever wins, all of us who are into bitcoins will greatly benefit from this friendly competition.
