Ditty! £ $ ₹ € ¥ ¢ ≠ ÷ ™
I've updated or installed the Android wallet in five devices and done countless transactions backwards and forwards with no issues whatsoever. The various devices each are set to different first currencies and are giving prices accordingly.

Nevertheless, I'll give it a go if I can find out the information.

What's the "RPC URL"?
Just the only information I need for now.

🤔

Well, the default RPC Port is 9561 (unless you set it differently with rpcport= in the conf file).
I am not sure what exactly the "RPC URL" should be, as this depends on the rpc command being sent.
For what kind of application do you need this for, respectively is there some context that could help to help  Wink?

I've noticed that an exchange wallet app (that I have on my mobile phone) seems to have the ability to add coins - it got me to thinking that if I could add SexCoin to the exchange's wallet app, then I *might* be able to set up liquidity for instant exchanges between SXC and other crypto? More exchanges means more brand awareness and availability.

I'm wondering if it's some sort of API that it calls on?

I am not really sure you could just "plug in" the sexcoin wallet there.
I'd guess this runs on some kind of middleware that works on top of the regular wallet. This is my best guess, though I obviously have no real clue about this whole DeFi/DEX stuff but I am pretty confident that it won't work out the way you envision.

Someone must be privately mining sexcoins - I can't find any pools listing SXC - that said, IIRC sexcoin is a merge mining coin, so perhaps the blockchain is being propelled on the back of another coin.

That said, a dedicated pool would add to the list of connections that wallets use which is handy if one or more other I.P.'s can't be reached for whatever reason.

One exchange (freiexchange.com) and the chainz.crptoid.info block explorer are two of those connections. Having a pool (even low level in the background) strengthens that group to confirm transactions. Vital for an android wallet relying on near instant confirmations.

What's the "RPC URL"?

Chain ID?

And, is the "network" = Scrypt ?? (Am asking for a friend)

Has been quite some time since I last merge-mined SXC but IIRC the Chain ID is 105 and it is indeed scrypt.

SexCoin Pool setup and walk through: https://github.com/sexcoin-project/p2pool-sexcoin

Long time ago I have hosted SXC p2pool - the pool fee transactions are still in my wallet.

If someone has any interest in - I can try to revive it.

Any pools available?

I just had a look here:

https://miningpoolstats.stream/sexcoin (Make of it what you will)
https://www.f2pool.com/coin/sexcoin (Information needs updating)
https://www.coinwarz.com/mining/sexcoin/calculator (Not updating - (partially))
https://miningwatchdog.com/mining/sxc/main (Have a read of their appraisal - it's honest)
https://www.cryptoground.com/sexcoin-mining-calculator

https://minerstat.com/coins

but it doesn't list any - It's been a very long time since I mined any coins

used their Discord, -coin-add-requests channel

CoinGecko shows us as inactive and asks to contact support if they are wrong - maybe let's give a try?

I've updated the block chain explorer https://chainz.cryptoid.info/payments.log.dws?sxc Unfortunately, neither payment option is in crypto - just paypal or credit cards.  Undecided

Portable Apps:

Can the wallet be ported as a Portable App ? Bitcoin, Litecoin, Doge and Monero can be run that way.

Coin Market Capitalisations:

CoinGeck no longer polls SXC https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/sexcoin

Neither does coinmarket cap: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/sexcoin/

OTOH

Delta shows SXC on their app, but not on the website: https://delta.app/en/crypto?page=21

Can we update the first post to read

Asked MD to add us as merged coin - they replied "project is dead, so we delisted it some time ago". Maybe it's time to return or is there other pool merged mining SXC?

Another question - if I install selfhosted pool like NOMP/uNOMP and use SXC from its config - will it work? Simply - can it still be mined directly, without merge?

*Good to see you in here ArchitektoR!*

100% Yes. It can be mined as the main chain. I've been considering putting up the lavapit again.

As you can see, I've been pulled back for a bit. Who's MD? Maybe contact with the rest of us could help.

The app installed without incident on two android devices - one already had the SXC wallet on it while the other was a fresh install.  The fresh install has the block chain at a point in Oct (23rd IIRC) while the update (once it finally connected) slowly downloaded the block chain - not that long a wait mind you.  I'm testing sending from the update to the fresh install (and then will send back again).  The update looks to be a success!

Excellent news!

Is there a feature to add nodes to the android wallet? (the app is trying to connect to one I.P., but keeps dropping out) Speaking of which - don't forget apkpure.com where you can upload the new APK and it will be added to their "you need to update" lists.

I'll definitely look into apkpure (I wasn't aware of it ). There already is a feature that the wallet uses to automatically check if there's an update available, I haven't bumped the number on the server side to trigger it yet.
When the app starts, it checks sexcoin.info for the latest build, which is why I bumped to 3.3.4 instead of just incrementing the beta number. I'll have that updated in the next day or two.

As far as adding nodes, its one of the features I want to add into the next build. This build I only wanted to fix what's gotten broken in the last year so I didn't change much ... so I could get it out quickly.

I'm currently working on these features:

  • add multiple nodes ( not just one trusted peer )
  • cancel a stuck transaction
  • adjust the fee manually
  • import a checkpoint file
  • view the log files in-app
  • set where exchange data come's from dynamically

As always, post your wish lists. If its possible I'll do my best to get it in.

Another thing that's taking a lot of my brain is an iPhone build. If anyone knows/thinks of a way to get it onto the Apple Store ... well ... I could use some wisdom there. I've been toying with calling it sxcwallet for them and have no direct reference to sexcoin, which crosses one hurdle. The second one is that they hate crypto wallets in general. I'm not sure how the big guns have gotten listed, but I've talked to a number of devs who said they were flat out told "No crypto wallets". Some countered pointing out that wallets were already there, but were unsuccessful in getting their small project approved.

::New Android Version::

Version 3.3.4-beta3 is available.

This fixes:
  • Exchange Rates not being populated
  • Endless crash loop on Android 14 (possibly others) when trying to use bluetooth
  • Adjusted the transaction fee down
  • Updated checkpoint file

https://github.com/lavajumper/sexcoin-wallet/releases/download/v3.3.4-beta3/sexcoin-android-wallet-V3.3.4-beta3.apk

  • Download the new .apk
  • Back up your keys
  • Install the .apk

This will update the way we're all used to.
On newer devices you will probably need to go to the App Permissions and explicitly set access permissions for Files, Camera and set Notifications.

I'm working on a rebuild of the wallet, to conform to more recent Android requirements and permission schemes.
