Following the series victory against Australia, India retains the top-ranked ICC T20I Team. The second and third positions were taken by England and South Africa, respectively. If England wins the series, they can top the table, and if Pakistan wins, they will replace England's position. In T20I, rankings aren't important, especially with World Cup approaching. A team can beat any other on its day.
Rankings are based on a team's performance. But that doesn't matter much when the World Cup just around the corner. Every team is now busy with how to perform well in the World Cup. Now T20 series will be very important for every team. The matches played yesterday between Australia vs India and Pakistan vs England are of utmost importance. Meanwhile Australia and India match is over. Now the T20 series between Pakistan and England is on going. We have to see how much progress they can make in the upcoming matches.I also think the game change is really unpredictable, anytime any team can play bad or weak team in the list can show good performance. But the ranking should not be underestimated, things are very good. Because the current performance of that team also depends on the ranking, that is, the quality and condition of everyone in the team should be kept and practiced in the team.
I totally agree that ranking’s can be misleading in this format, and when you look at India one may feel that they’ll probably win the upcoming T20 World Cup, but the reality is that they’ll not win because of their poor bowling. Furthermore this tournament requires strong batting, and again team India’s middle order looks vulnerable and hence if one is planning to wager on them then I would advise not to, because I feel that they may lose too easily against their opponent’s.
