Their performance was poor due to poor captaincy in the starting matches of the season. They could not return to the truck.
I blame Rohit Sharma for Mumbai's poor performance. The performance of an experienced player like him this season has been very disappointing.

All the four teams are equally strong. Both the new teams looks more confident, because of reaching the playoff in its very first season. Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals have got two opportunities to make their entry into final whereas Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants needs to be very careful with the matches. In this regard RCB vs LSG will be more interesting than GT vs RR.

Since I keep myself updated on IPL through the forum - nothing on our TV channels about the IPL. Read it above that Hydrabad is going to play semi final if they win today, are they in semi finals now? What's the current update of IPL now as it is heading towards finals.

Punjab will get an easy victory with the target of only 158 runs given by Hyderabad. Punjab scored 103 runs in 11 overs. They lost three wickets. Punjab needs 55 runs from 54 balls to win. Despite the good performances of Abhishek and Rahul, Hyderabad gave a target of only 156 runs due to the poor performance of the middle order. However, neither team has a chance to qualify for the playoffs.

DC lost Warner and Shaw early however Pant and Powell tried their best to help the team to stay in-game as they have got into a rhythm, were departed. Anyways, MI won and finished on high by 5 wickets and sent DC home, and helped RCB reach playoffs.
In 2018 MI vs DC was a must-win for MI but DC won over them. Now, 2022 MI vs DC, it was must a win for DC but got defeated.

I don't believe in the argument that Mumbai is weaker than the other teams in the IPL. They have won the trophy multiple times and they have some of the best T20 players in their squad. For them, there were two negatives this season. Team balance got disrupted after players such as Trent Boult and Quinton de Kock left the franchise. And Rohit's captaincy was poor throughout this season. And then comes Delhi Capitals, who despite their good team balance failed to qualify to the next phase due to poor captaincy.

What's going on in IPL - which teams are on the top?

They had a poor run but we shouldn't jump into conclusion. They are Champion team backed by fine supporting staff and they know how to bounceback. From the start they were quite clear that they want to build the team for the future and in doing so if it hurts their interest then they were okay with it.

This would be core MI team in coming years, hardly a associate level team IMO.

Ishan Kishan had a off season but he's good bat.
Dewald Brevis - He's an excellent bat and future star.
Tilak Varma - Another terrific 19 year old kid and making headlines with his performance.
SKY already a proven character
Tim David also clicked and showed what he's capable of.
Bumrah + Archer(if he's fit) will lead the bowling attack.

Then there are Rohit+Pollard for couple of more years.

True it wasn't their night but Pant is the main culprit here. He messed up big time, didn't took a review, dropped a sitter. Safe to say he just crumbled under pressure.

In 2018 season DC did the same with Mumbai and tonight Mumbai kicked them out.

Now this will get into controversy, and people starts to discuss that fixing have taken place in the match. People connect the dropped catch and the review that isn't taken, though there is two reviews left. The first drop is the wicket of Brevis who contributed good and the second one is for Tim David. As said Delhi Capitals was under pressure, because they targeted for 180+ runs. As the target was 160 runs it started to create pressure. Another thing Mumbai Indians started to play in a stable way without losing early wickets.
