I wonder which company is willing to take those kind of risky insurance, as a sports person you are bound to get injured and i would like to see their balance sheet after the IPL  Cheesy. Every tournament there are injured players and knowing these risk if a company is willing to take these risk, it is great to know which  company is willing to take these risk.

Well.. they are not handing out the insurance for free. For example, for a coverage of $1.53 million (spanning over two months during the IPL 2019 season), Mitchell Starc had to pay almost $100K as premium. And even after that, the insurance provider refused to pay compensation for the terminated IPL contract. Starc was injured during the test match against South Africa, and the insurance policy had exclusion for old injuries (i.e it covered injuries sustained during the IPL season only).

Its not new in many sports they are doing work for players and giving some good amount as few years back I read Legendary Michael Schumacher was paid in millions $ for his injury in Europe and USA there are many Insurance companies doing this business.
An insurance company that accepts sports insurance does know the risk involved and if it is a sports like F1 then the risks are much higher and the premium is not like they insure for normal population but the difference here with Michael Schumacher is that he was retired and he does have a health insurance and that is why he was covered.

Yes, you are correct all IPL players are covered under Insurance scheme for injuries and the insurance also covers event cancellation due to rain. The key risks covered are event cancellation, personal accident and medical insurance policy for players and loss of player fees due to injury or illness.
Therefore the franchise never incur any loss under such circumstances.

My personal opinion is that CSK should have given opportunities to the younger players instead of this oldie.
It is a private cricket club and their money and they can do anything with their money  Cheesy, as mentioned earlier CSK has a lot of spinners in the team but they lack proper batsman and they should have picked a proper batsman as the team is filled with bowlers i think, what ever it is if Piyush Chawla is not performing then he will be warming the bench and if he gets money doing that then it is his lucky draw  Wink.

Yes bro they have give chance to any young talent opening batsman because there are so many players performing well in domestic T20 leagues. Maybe Dhoni will feel it if top order  batting lineup fail.

The team lineup is so good that it can give any youngster chance in every match as they have few good players and due to their experience they cannot only win the match but also give crucial learning’s to any new player who joins the team .

There seems to be some controversy going on with the Big Bash League (BBL) in Australia. Kevin Roberts (CEO of Cricket Australia) decided to turn down a lucrative offer from a betting company for BBL sponsorship. The reason given was that BBL is a "family focused" tournament and betting firms have no place there. I would agree.... but at the same time, someone need to remind Mr. Roberts that Cricket Australia has a an existing agreement with Bet365, which happens to be one of the largest betting firms in the world. Is he saying that such companies are allowed for test and ODI matches, but not for T20 matches? Something is not right here.

Reminds me of what happened to Varun Chakravarthy in IPL 2019. Kings XI Punjab picked him for a massive $1.17 million, and he played just one match in IPL 2019 (in which Sunil Narine scored a massive 25 runs of his first over). He didn't played the rest of the matches due to an injury. But since he played that match against the KKR, he received the entire contract amount ($1.17 million). This year also he was quite lucky. KKR picked him for $560,000 million. Sometimes the player auction in IPL can be very difficult to comprehend.
I have not seen the contracts, what if a player is purchased for a huge amount and they were unable to play the season because of injury, will they be getting paid, i doubt that will happen, but if a player is selected and if they are not selected for a match then that is not the issue of the player and hence he will be eligible to get the entire payment. If the kids are getting paid, it is good for them as it is a small window to make money with sport.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong. As far as I know, all of the players contracted to various IPL franchises are insured for the season. In case they miss out due to injury, then their insurance is going to cover that. So even if an IPL player doesn't play a single game due to injury, he will be receiving the entire amount from the insurance company. For example, Mitchell Starc missed IPL 2019 due to fracture of his right tibial bone. Kolkata Knight Riders cancelled his $1.8 million contract, but he received a compensation of $1.53 million from the insurance provider (Starc had paid a premium of $97,920 for the insurance coverage).

Yes you are right Dhoni will have a different game plan this season IPL and we can note that from the bidding action because bought only bowlers but some cricket exporters do not understand why dhoni bought Chawla with 6.75 cores because there're yang talents waiting for good opportunity, maybe dhoni has been noted that Chawla resent domestic performance.

I checked his record in the domestic tournaments this season, and I couldn't find anything extra-ordinary. He represents Gujarat, and most of his better performances so far in this season came against weak teams such as Sikkim and Nagaland. He was smashed all around the park during the recent T20 matches against strong teams such as Saurashtra and Jharkhand (going for more than 10 runs per over in both the matches, without taking a single wicket). My personal opinion is that CSK should have given opportunities to the younger players instead of this oldie.

I think Dhoni have different game plans for this season because CSK bought only bowlers in the bidding action it seems to Dhoni understand the other teams strength and what CSK need exactly.

I am still not convinced, because I don't think that Piyush Chawla will get to play too many matches during the 2020 edition. The entire thing looked very suspicious for me, with Dinesh Karthik from the SRH and MS Dhoni of CSK going all out for him. Chawla's record during the previous editions of the league are very ordinary looking and splurging so much money on him was surprising.
We don't know what Dhoni have planned, because every time rest of the team thinks in one way and his thinking will be different. Finally on execution his strategy wins the match. This time for the IPL he might have made some plans that needs Piyush Chawla. As said his performances over the past IPL's weren't that big.

Ms Dhoni purchased Piyush Chawla because of his overall experience, but I feel this is a wrong purchase as Piyush Chawla hasn’t played any international cricket match since ages. I’m sure many will think that he might have a strong IPL record which would further justify his purchase by CSK, but in my opinion his record is weak but form your own opinion after seeing his stats.
From looking at the IPL records your provided, he is not performing that well from 2017 where his economy rate is 8.95  which is not a great one and by far the 2019 IPL was his worst performance till date and i am not sure why Dhoni wanted him in the team even with the performance like this in his past IPL, may be he is helping him earn the money as IPL will be the major source of money for Chawla as he is not playing international cricket for a long period of time and hence his inclusion to help him earn some money Grin.

If Chawla is able to earn a healthy earning so be it, even if he is rested hope he will be getting that kind of money at the end of the season, i think the reason is that they were looking for a leg spin bowler and he is a good choice as there are not many leg spinners around and they might have a plan or two to invest that kind of money in him, not sure how he is performing in domestic tournaments and may be that can be the case too.
