I am watching the Namibia vs PNG match, and it looks very suspicious. Namibia just needed 130 to win and they were cruising comfortably until the 10th over, when they made 55 or so with the loss of two wickets. But then the batsmen were just wasting ball after ball and even when the required run rate got to 12, the batsmen were just blocking the ball. Very suspicious.
We are in a time when people are getting banned for not informing the ICC that bookies approached them in the past and you are telling that the match is fixed because they were defending the ball, i did not watch the match but if there is any misconduct then they will get into trouble and get banned for life but you never know unless there is an investigation and someone is convicted.

Are you talking about the 2021 World Cup? There will be a total of 16 teams, which means that at least 4 Associate nations will be there (could be more). But the format is slightly different for that tournament, as only one team will get qualification from each of the regional qualifiers. There are five regional qualifiers, one each for Asia, Africa, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Americas. Nothing unfair in that, as per my opinion.

So this tournament in Dubai is for the Asia qualifiers ?
When and where will be the other qualifiers like Africa, Europe and Americas ?

So are you saying that this comes under match fixing ?  If Namibia did lose deliberately then it will be harmful for their own cricket future.

PNG has scored a total of 130/5 after 20.0 overs, which is a good total considering the fact that they were struggling at 31/3 after 6 overs. Netherlands have already qualified for the finals and now we need to see which team out of these two will get the second slot. I would say that a slight advantage is with Namibia right now. But this is T20 and noting can be said with certainty.

Also, there is another edition of the T20 World Cup in 2021. There will be no global qualifier for that tournament. Instead the Super 12 teams would be gaining automatic entry, and the remaining 4 teams will be selected from the five regional qualifiers (one each from Asia, Europe and Americas, and the fourth team from the winner of the playoff between East Asia Pacific and Africa). The ICC is claiming that there is not enough time available to conduct a global qualifier tournament for the 2021 world cup.

I just do not get it. Only 1 team will qualify from T-20 WC Men Qualifiers directly to the ICC world cup T20 ?
I think they should select more than 1 team to the qualifiers as these teams have played so many matches and more than 1 teams deserves to be in the world cup matches.

Pakistan team beat CA XI in the warm up match in Australia. This may not be a big news for many of you but for the Pakistanis this is the big news considering the past performance of them. Fakhar and Babar played well on the seaming wickets and Shadab took 3 wickets , look like all of them are coming back in form at the right time.
I know it is a great news for all the Pakistan cricket fans, they have a decent bowling line up and if the batsman put some runs on the board then we will see some competitive matches and that is what we want to see rather than one sided match, Pakistan must improve their fielding too as majority of the teams have improved the fielding aspect but even now Pakistan is messy in the field.

BTW we have T-20 WC Men Qualifiers semifinals today:

(1) Papua New Guinea vs Namibia
(2) Ireland vs Netherlands

Nope.. not today.. these matches are scheduled for tomorrow and in India both the matches will be broadcast on Star Sports 3. The finals will be played on Sunday, and ironically the final match is not being shown on TV (Star Sports will be broadcasting highlights from some past matches instead). I am happy with the semi-final lineup, as all the four teams are close to 100% consisting of native players. Personally, I want Netherlands and Papua New Guinea to win their matches, as these two are the most deserving ones.

NZ vs ENG

Big names are missing in the squad from both sides. feels like another tryout for WT-20

I was expecting some sort of firework from Kiwi batsmen but only Daryl Mitchell showed some character and other batsmen acted like a dud, hitting six then back to pavilion.

I thought New Zealand can take revenge from England through this series  but things did not turn out well for the Kiwi's. It was a very easy victory for  England at Christchurch. I was surprised that New Zealand were not able to take home advantage. Only MJ Santner was able to take 3 wickets and none of the other bowlers from NZ were able to make any impact.

Netherlands won by 21 runs against Ireland and second semifinal between Papua New Guinea and Namibia is going right now.  Didn't followed the Australia vs Sri Lanka but despite the loss I woul say at least Sri Lanka gave a better performance than the performance in first two matches of the series.

My bad. I am sorry for the mistake. I was thinking that the matches were scheduled for tomorrow (I was under a lot of stress at the office today, and probably because of that made a mess with the dates). I am watching the Namibia vs Papua New Guinea match right now, and the former is off to a good start (despite losing the toss). At one point, PNG were 31/3, but now they are slowly rebuilding the innings. After 10.0 overs, they are at 56/3.

BTW, the latest news from Delhi is that a public-health emergency has been declared there. Here are the details:

https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/27981083/pollution-related-emergency-delhi-t20i-go-ahead

Quote
Two days before the Delhi T20I between India and Bangladesh, the air quality in Delhi has plummeted to hazardous levels, and led to a public-health emergency. Schools have been shut, construction work stalled, and athletic activity advised against, but the two teams trained out in the middle and continued to shrug off the threat of playing in such poor air quality.

If the situation doesn't improve, then expect the match to be cancelled.

The problem with West Indies is that they lack consistency, they have huge players like Gayle, Pollard, Russel who could change a match in a few overs and Indian players also have great players.
I partially agree with you here. The West Indian team are very inconsistent when it comes to test and ODI tournaments though I feel that they are consistent when it comes to T-20 tournaments. They have many amazing batsmen, but they lack quality bowlers.

I just checked espncricinfo.com and found that the first semi-final is over and Netherlands won that match in a comprehensive manner against Ireland. I really wanted to watch the match live...  Sad
You could always watch the highlights. I am impressed with Netherlands these days. Never would have expected them to defeat Ireland so easily.

OMG! It looks like I missed the first semi-final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Qualifier. I was thinking that the match is scheduled for tomorrow and not for today. Anyway, the second match (Namibia vs Papua New Guinea) will start in around 45 minutes from now and it will be live on Star Sports 3 (in India). I was actually complaining about Star Sports not covering the matches on Sunday (when the reality is that tournament gets over tomorrow). I will make sure that I get to watch the second semi-final.

Warner is basically one of the most entertaining left handed batsmen I have ever seen. The manner in which he strikes the ball with so much power is something else. This is why Pointing continues to bet on him despite his recent failures.
I still remember the first time i saw Warner coming into the team even without much experience in the domestic circuit and smashing the ball to all parts of the ground and before that Adam Gilchrist was wonderful Klusener and Jayasurya all fascinated me with their power hitting.

In the long term, both Warner and Smith are extraordinary. However, you are forgetting that the West Indian and Indian teams also have their fair share of hard hitters(MSD being one of them). It is going to be a fantastic tournament.

There is a real chance that the upcoming T20 match between India and Sri Lanka may be shifted from New Delhi. The air pollution level has been rated as "Hazardous" in that city and previously teams (both domestic and international) have refused to play in Delhi due to the high pollution levels. We still have a week to go for the match, so it is possible for the BCCI to move the match to some other location.

Don't know about you guys but i am observing good amount of improvement with this Sri Lankan team. if they follow this projectile till next T-20 world cup then i have some hope for them Grin let's not forget Australia hosting next WC.

Ist T-20   = 99 runs
2nd T-20  = 117 runs
3rd T-20   = 142 runs

Anyways, hope Aus collapse today  Tongue

What you forgot is the fact that the pitch at Melbourne was very supportive of the batsmen. Also, you are ignoring the fact that one of the key Australian players skipped this match (Ben McDermott came in for Glenn Maxwell). IMO, I couldn't find any improvement in the performance of Sri Lanka. We'll talk about their improvement when they are able to win matches.

Warner is back in prime form and won three man of the match awards back to back and won the man of the series to show his presence after a long stretch of low scores with an average of 217 in this series as no one was able to get his wicket and if he could continue this form then it will put Australia in prime position to win the next T20 world cup along with England as they too have a strong line up of hard hitters in their team.

I do agree that England won this one pretty easily thanks to Bairstow, Vince and Morgan, but I feel like you are over-estimating them a bit too much. New Zealand performed in an average manner through out the World Cup(Depending heavily on Williamson).
England does have a really strong team in the T20 format and i am not over estimating them, New Zealand is known as a dark horse in all the world cup because they are capable of defeating anyone on a given day if they perform well but you usually will not see that kind of performance consistently Grin.

This is why NZ losing in such a manner especially without Willy is not surprising. If England is hit in the right spot, they will collapse.
That can be said about any team in any sport, hit on the right spot and anyone can collapse. Tongue

Lol that's not gonna happen. I don't think that this current Srilankan team will ever manage to get past 160. And btw, just like the 1st two match Aussies won the match by 7 wickets with ease. And wow Warner didn't get dismissed in all 3 matches in the series

Apart from Perera, no one really impressed me in the Sri Lankan team in this series including Malinga(So far). Looks like Warner and Finch will finish this match on their own at this point. Sri Lankans continue to struggle.

Way too many one sided matches these days across all formats. This is why I miss tournaments like the IPL where underdogs end up winning when we least expect them to.
