Both the teams have had more wickets from the start, but Sunrise Hyderabad have been leading the run rate even though they have lost more wickets. Sunrise Hyderabad managed to score 182 runs for nine wickets, Nitish Reddy scored 64 runs off 37 balls. He was the only major run-getter of the Sunrise Hyderabad team. Punjab Kings team has high wicket loss but they are far behind in terms of run rate, if they perform like this, there is a high chance of losing at the last minute. So Punjab Kings team must perform well if they want to win.

I didn't think that Punjab will play so badly today after going into bat with a target of 183 runs. I expected to see better batting from the Punjab batsmen. But in the 6 overs of the power play, the players of Punjab batted badly. At the end of 6 overs, Punjab managed to collect only 27 runs and lost three top order batsmen.



SIkhar Dhawan scored 14 runs off 16 balls. Baistwo could not add any runs to the scoreboard in 3 balls. Punjab's batsmen need to score 156 runs off 84 balls to win. It cannot be said that Punjab has no chance of winning yet. But the probability of this is very low. Sam Curran must play a big innings. If Curran plays well, Punjab have a chance to win. Otherwise Punjab will be defeated today.

Punjab started their innings very badly. Punjab scored only two runs in two overs. And Punjab Kings lost the crucial wicket of Jonny Baistwo. Punjab's top order needed to perform well if they wanted to win the big target of 183 runs. If Punjab can't bat well in the power play then it will be very difficult for Punjab to win this match.

Hyderabad have experienced bowlers like Natarajan, Bhubaneswar Kumar and Pat cummins in their squad. Since Hyderabad's bowlers have been able to put Punjab's batsmen under pressure in the beginning, I hope Hyderabad's chances of winning are high now.

Fortunately most of the matches are scheduled to start at 7:30pm Indian time. By then, it is cooler out there. Anyway, Asian cricket boards hardly care about the fans. Facilities are poor, and all those who are involved (state associations, police, caterers, contractors.etc) treat the fans like cash cows. But then, cricket sells in India like no other sport. You can easily get tens of thousands of fans, even on weekdays. I was hoping that things will get better under Jay Shah and Anurag Thakur, but the situation hasn't changed a lot.

182 doesn't look safe, also it's a new ground so there is hardly any sample size but overall this should be a template as far as competitiveness goes in franchise cricket.

PS : Fans might get cooked in hot day matches because didn't notice any sheds.

Sunrisers Hyderabad  vs  Punjab Super Kings

Hyderabad set a target of 183 runs today. Punjab's bowlers bowled quite controlled, which is why Hyderabad couldn't muster 200+ today. Nitish Kumar collected 64 runs off 37 balls. Besides, Abdul Samad managed to collect 25 runs off 12 balls. Arashdeep bowled very well today. He gave 29 runs in 4 overs and took 4 wickets. Harshal Patel also bowled very well.

Hyderabad Descent provided a target. However, Punjab's batting order is strong enough. Punjab's batsmen have the ability to win the target of 183 runs. Sikhar Dhawan, Bairstwo and Sam Curran are capable of batting well enough. I think Punjab will win today.

I was totally in favor of Kolkata Knight Riders as we have seen aggressive batting by their batsmen in the previous few matches. But I never thought that Kolkata Knight Riders would have such a bad batting performance against Chennai Super Kings. The biggest reason for Kolkata Knight Riders' batting failure is that Chennai Super Kings bowlers bowled well. Ravindra Jadeja swung the ball a lot which made it very difficult for the batsmen to deal with his ball due to which he regularly picked up wickets of Kolkata Knight Riders.

Kolkata Knight Riders were looking at Shreyas Iyer and Andre Russell but Mustafizur Rahman broke Kolkata's batting backbone by dismissing one of them. On one side of Chennai Super Kings, as the spin bowlers have bowled well, on the other hand, the pace bowlers have also bowled well. Chennai Super Kings have formed a balanced team in this season of the Indian Premier League and they may have a chance to become champions this time.

If CSK somehow makes it into the top 2 then I guess it's fair to say they have another chance of winning the trophy.

If I'm not wrong then Chepuk is hosting the IPL finals and CSK is the most successful team at home, not so much in away matches. Also, at Chepuk sometimes, you need a couple of spin bashers in the Playing XI similar to Dube.   

I judge the team from this season alone and here KKR had won 3/3 games, and hammered opponents in two out of those three, while CSK didn't live upto their name in prior two games (that too, losing against DC), so it was expected that KKR is at better place to win the game.

This match was a let down for many cause people expected tough competition as they felt these two teams are of high caliber and it turned out really one sided game.


Gambhir being back as a mentor in KKR why people think that KKR will perform better this season than in previous seasons, and they definitely are performing better.

Valid points. KKR were playing really well recently which is why I understand why you expected them to win, but you need to remember the fact that they are easily one of the most inconsistent teams out there.

They were consistent as a team only when Gambhir led them for a while due to which they ended up winning twice. Unpredictable team!

In recent match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings Chennai Super Kings won because they bowled really well. Kolkata Knight Riders struggled at beginning and were under lot of pressure. But Chennai Super Kings bowlers kept attacking and that helped them to win. Both teams showed they were strong and determined but Chennai Super Kings were better at their home ground. While we can see DeshPande and Jadeja. I will give the whole credit to these two bowlers. Mustafizur was also good in bowling but Jadeja and Deshpande bowled aggressively. They deserved to win because they were better at playing strategically. Congratulations to CSK.

I read your post carefully and I clearly understood what you said in your post but the comment I made against your post is only for those members who are not giving credit to the bowlers. You clearly stated in your post that LSG bowlers bowled a lot of controlled bowling and they picked up wickets at crucial times and I definitely agree with you. LSG is doing much better than GT this season as GT has already played the first five matches where they have won only two matches whereas LSG have won three matches out of the first four matches. It goes without saying that LSG have formed a formidable team in terms of batting and bowling.

Kolkata Knight Riders lost wickets at the start and faced a lot of pressure. But I think mainly because of the bowling performance of Chennai Super Kings team, Chennai Super Kings team managed to win. But both the teams were very strong here but won according to their performances, and Chennai Super Kings team started the performance in one way to perform at home ground. Chennai Super Kings team's performance at home ground was their positive that is why there is a huge gap between these two teams.  .

Kolkata Knight Riders have actually fared better than Chennai Super Kings this season as they have played four matches out of which they have won three. Although both Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders have won three matches each, Chennai Super Kings have played one match more than Kolkata which makes them sit below KKR in the points table. If we want to highlight the performance of yesterday's match between these two teams, then Chennai Super KingsThe bowlers performed well yesterday. Mustafizur Rahman and Ravindra Jadeja of Chennai Super Kings bowled at the lowest cost which made their victory easy in that match. I think that was the biggest achievement of yesterday's match. Basically the controlled bowling of Chennai Super Kings brought them victory.

I have to disagree with statement that the Kolkata Knight Riders are in better form than the Chennai Super Kings in this Indian Premier League season. While Kolkata may have won few matches it is important to consider overall performance and consistency of team. Chennai Super Kings have a strong track record in IPL and have shown resilience in past seasons. Unexpected performance against Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad may have been setback but every team faces challenges in long tournament. Credit should be given to Ravindra Jadeja for his exceptional performance in match mentioned. With players like Sunil Narine and Mustafizur Rahman they have capability to bounce back and show their true potential in upcoming matches.

Yesterday, it was the battle between two spinners - Ravindra Jadeja for Chennai Super Kings and Sunil Narine for the Kolkata Knight Riders. And in the end, it was Jadeja who emerged victorious. He restricted Kolkata Knight Riders to a total of 137/9, which was at least 40-50 runs short at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk. By the time Narine came to bowl, the match was all but over. None of the KKR batsmen got going. Shreyas Iyer in particular struggled and his strike rate was too low, while wickets kept falling from the other end.

But I wasn't expecting that because Kolkata Knight riders team are also in a good form in this Indian premier League season . Kolkata have won all the few matches they have played so far.  On the others hand Chennai Super kings they have started well in this season but unexpected performance against Delhi Capitals and also with Sunrisers Hyderabad make them in a bad condition but I am seeing that they have lots of improvement in this match the credit of Ravindra Jadeza in this match is most he made some big batsmen to go pavilion. Like the monster Sulin Narine he made three wicket with giving only 18 run this was great performance from Jadeja. Mustafiz also take two wicket I think today's squad is the best squad for Chennai Super kings.

Expected CSK to defeat KKR, but I did not expect them to easily defeat them in such a comprehensive manner. Jadeja bounced back spectacularly while KKR just played like children all of a sudden.

CSK's bowling is just decent this season, but what helped them more was the fact that they were playing at their own turf which is a fortress.

Wao things are going so unpredictable in IPL because same team Kolkata Knight riders first broke the winning streak of Chennai and put them down In standing while now same team Chennai Super Kings broke the winning and momentum of Kolkata to took his revenge but unfortunately unable to regain his position on top of the table, Kolkata were totally dependent on naraine performance especially in previous recently matches because he were absolutely on fire and through his aggressive innings Kolkata get the game but tonight things goes against Kolkata because thier main key player dismissed before done any damage for his opponent and that the reason why Thier player got under pressure and scored low than expectations and thus lose and important match of the tournament but still they hold high position on standing which will give them opportunity to get back stronger

The Kolkata Knight Riders made a good start in the power play,but the Jadeja spells the game to the new way.This was the unexpected one from the Kolkata team captain,because the strong support was the reason for the Chennai Super Kings.The first five wicket change the game completely,because the wicket of Sunil Narine had a huge impacts in today game.Because he had only scored 27 runs from the 20 delivery,the Narine was seems to be have some health issues like harm pain and it was the main cause for the Sunil to get into the dressing room with the less score to their team.This was the third win for CSK team in the home ground was the welcome one by the home ground fans.


Still the KKR in the second position with their good run rate,you have to check the table again.Because the total game played by the each team and run rate will play the huge role in the table of the league.The run scored by the KKR is not seems like the team who had won the 3/3 matches in the league.They play like the test match and scored only 137 runs from the 120 balls.Really look like the game with each ball to score one runs,if the team KKR had score 170-190 runs,it was easy to defend for the CSK even it was their home ground.Mostly the home ground doesn’t important when the team made the good runs in their first half of the game.
