Weird that there's not much talk about the recently concluded T-20 match between England and West Indies where several records were created including a crazy high team score and individual score.

Windies were actually striking at a great rate and they probably could have chased down the mammoth target if they still had wickets in hand. Final will be the decider.

I think it's a good thing that the money is increasing in the IPL each year because things will get juicier as JSRAW said. No other international cricket is played during that tenure and they are taking a good advantage of it.

Although it's a shame that the Australians or any other cricketers doesn't focus on their own nation’s league and focuses on IPL. Cricket is becoming like football and the franchise with more money will rule the cricket in the next few years. IPL is leading here. Quinton De Kock retired from international cricket after World Cup.

In other sports, already that is the case. Franchise leagues are more popular when compared to international competitions. Cricket is slowly moving in that direction with the Indian Premier League (IPL). Also, just because the Australian players are participating in it, you can't say that they are ignoring the local league. Most of these players are active in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL). And now coming to the case of Quinton De Kock, his retirement has more to do with the racial bias from the South African selectors. He was forced to apologize, after refusing to join the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement.

Wellington vs Otago

[....]
Right brother, one batter of Wellington Tim Robinson was only for whole squad of Otago squad. This batter displayed a tremendous performance in batting inning in today match and he collected a significant scores for their squad and this was truly impressive. Defending target was very big in today match because Tim Robinson batter made 139 scores in low deliveries only 69 and other batter also displayer good performance and Nick Kelly captain of Wellington sqaud made 48 scores, at end of their batting inning, their sqaud collected total 234 scores and their bowlers wiped out all batters of Otago squad for 160 scores and only emerged victory in 74 scores.

Compare football with cricket. The highest paid footballer has a salary of $215 million per year with additional perks (Cristiano Ronaldo in Al Nassr). On the other hand, the highest paid cricketer is paid around 1% of that amount. Mitchell Starc has now become the most expensive cricketer and his salary with Kolkata Knight Riders is worth $3.1 million per year). That means that most of the profits earned from the IPL goes to BCCI, who in turn spends this amount elsewhere. IPL media rights alone is worth around $1.2 billion per year.
And it would remain the same.

I am okay if they increase the ceiling by INR 200-210 cr, in short, double the amount of the current purse and throw the mini auction in the dustbin. Sign players for long contracts (atm it's 3 years, maybe 4 would be okay), retaining limit should be increased as well, maybe 8-10 players so that they can build a fan base, nurture new talents etc. Otherwise, loyalties get mixed all the time and no one focus on new players. There is a reason CSK and MI are successful teams.

Melbourne Renegades vs Brisbane Heat

The 10th match of Australian Premier League Big Bash is taking place today in this match Melbourne Renegades and Brisbane Head are facing each other. In today's match, Melbourne Renegades batted first and they collected 162 runs for eight wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Still Brisbanehead are batting with a target of 163 runs. BrisbaneHead need 118 from just 89 balls to win. It is likely that Brisbanehead will win today's match as they still have eight wickets in hand.

Wellington vs Otago

Today was the second match of this Tournament. Wellington played first turn and gave a huge target to Otago team. In Wellington team all the credit goes to one person. He is Tim Robinson who made 139 on 64 balls with 10 sixes and 10 fours. He is the player of the match too. They played really well and gave the target of 235 runs.
Otago tried much but the score was very high. Wellington bowling was also good. Ian McPeake and Peter Younghusband got 3…3 wickets and restricted the Otago under 170 runs. Congratulations to Wellington team.

KKR was badly looking for a fast bowler as they had emptied their fast bowling squad before the IPL auction. That's why they decided to spend a lot on Mitchell Starc. At the same time, Gujarat Titans was also wanting him in the squad to make their bowling lineup strong.
Still a bad decision though. Starc is no Bumrah since he isn't really great in the T-20 format which is why 15 cr should have been the max bid for him.

BTW, India has taken the franchise cricket league to another level through the IPL auction of this year. It will bring more attention to the cricket from the worldwide spectators.
That they have. IPL is the shining beacon of Cricket these days no matter whether anyone is willing to agree or not. It provided this sport the much needed momentum that it desperately needed.

Because all cricket boards never respected the market and its players. For IPL It will get much more juicier as there is already talk about increasing every team's purse. Right now every franchise can spend around INR 110 crore for a mega auction. One can see where is this heading in the future.

Having said that, i still think cricketers are not paid handsomely even in IPL because profit % sharing is close to 18-20% only, which is low atm if we compare IPL with other successful sports leagues and it should be increased to around 25-30%.

What actually surprised me was seeing Mitchell being bought for a lower price than expected since he is in phenomenal form these days. SRH and KKR are desperate which is why they overpaid both Australians.
Mitchell was indeed phenomenal in the early days of his IPL career. Actually, his bowling performance was great in his second IPL. He was also bought by KKR in 2018 IPL auction with a good price, but he couldn't play in that season for getting injured. Still, ₹24.75 crore is overpriced in my opinion. KKR was badly looking for a fast bowler as they had emptied their fast bowling squad before the IPL auction. That's why they decided to spend a lot on Mitchell Starc. At the same time, Gujarat Titans was also wanting him in the squad to make their bowling lineup strong.

But, KKR stayed silent on Coetzee and Madhushanka — I don't remember but one of 'em came before Starc's auction. Well, good for MI anyway.

BCCI, made cricket into a profitable than ever before and they spot the right time frame April and May which is the summer Holidays throughout the India. It doesn't mean there is no international matches in that time period and even the next year England players may not be available to play IPL and that is why Englishmen went unsold in the Auction.

Oh so this is the reason.

I was hoping Kusal Mendis would play for some team, but he went unsold. I liked his inning of hundred against Pak in odi wc, I felt he could do good if rest of team is on-par with him, which is possible in IPL.

Only Australian or English Players can afford to avoid IPL because they earn enough from there respective boards. For every other country player, now IPL is priority over national task. You may say there is very little cricket during IPL as most players are busy in IPL. Cricket in WI suffered alot because the board is not giving much funds to players and that's why they prefer playing leagues.
In the Indian Premier League, mainly the players of West Indies are busy with the IPL game except for their national team. They don't get the amount of income they get from the national team, that's why they don't give so much importance to the national team as much as they give importance to the IPL. Maybe that's why the national team is in a bad situation today despite having famous cricketers in West Indies cricket. To keep West Indies cricket alive, importance must be given to the national team.
You and I will not understand that, West Indies cricketers will have to understand that. The West Indies team has many marquee and talented players who prefer various franchise leagues rather than the national team.Actually they don't get paid according to their requirement in national team because of which they don't want to play in national team.An interesting thing is that if various franchise leagues are organized in the few countries that have cricket players, it can be seen that West Indies team players are the most in those leagues.

In the IPL auction, fast bowlers and pace-bowling all-rounders were in high demand, almost 67% of the total amount spent in this criteria. The teams were well prepared to spend big money on pace bowlers. While Kolkata needed a quality fast bowler, the ₹24.75 crore spent on him is quite staggering! This left-arm pacer, breaking all previous records, now set to feature for KKR. The question now is, can this Aussie live up to the massive bid and prove his worth?

Absolutely, this is the Indian Premier League, making new history and that's the reason capturing more attention than before.

Before IPL there wasn't much money in cricket, and now the money is increasing with every passing year of IPL. There is no international cricket during IPL as all countries main players are busy in IPL. I was reading that Cummins and Starc are now the most expensive player in history of IPL with price tag of 20 and 24 crore Indian Rupee. Australian players now only play IPL they don't pay much attention to BBL.

Hobart Hurricanes team won toss and get a chance for bat or bowl, they decided bat first. Hobart Hurricanes showed well effort in today game and they scored 172 runs in 20 overs by losing 8 wickets and this target was not bad but not enough for win. Perth Scorchers team chase down all target and they scored 173 runs in 16.1 overs by losing 1 wicket. A.Hardie batsman performed well and he scored high runs in entire game, he did not dismissed and scored 85 runs in 45 balls and hitted four 4s and five 6s. .
Perth Scorchers won this match by 9 wickets against Hobart Hurricanes. Perth Scorchers batting performance is outstanding they chase down the 273 runs target in loss of 1 wicket in 16.1 overs.  From Perth Scorchers Aaron Hardie bat well scored 85 runs unbeaten in just 45 balls ans Zak Crawley also batting good scored 65 runs not out in just 46 balls and helped his team to great victory. The player of the match is Jason Behrendorff for his amazing bowling performance picked 4 important wicktes by giving 25 runs in 4 overs and restricted Hobart Hurricanes to under 175 runs.
I wouldn't be surprised by Perth Scorchers' 9-wicket win over Hobart Hurricanes. It is not unusual for the Perth Scorchers to win a match against the Hobart Hurricanes. Because Perth Scorchers is a much stronger team than Hobart Hurricanes. I think, Hobart Hurricanes as a weak team, Hobart Hurricanes team players batted very well against Perth Scorchers. And the skill of the Hobart Hurricanes batsmen was able to give the Perth Scorchers a good target. But to give the Perth Scorchers a bigger target, the Hobart Hurricanes top order batting performance should have improved. Hobart Hurricanes could have scored some more runs if the top order bats well. Hobart Hurricanes bowling side needs to improve, Hobart Hurricanes bowling side is very poor compared to batting side. Hope the Hobart Hurricanes team can take some good ideas from this Big Bash League to improve themselves

We have been witnessing for several seasons that every season IPL is more crowded and interesting than every other season. Every franchise has spent big this season to buy quality players. Kolkata Knight Riders have bought the Australian fast bowler for the highest amount of money and have also been seen to be making a huge splash with Australian players among the top ten teams in the entire IPL.  The final auction of IPL is already over where every team has tried to strengthen their team by spending money. In this auction, there is no prison for the domestic players, but there has been a lot of tussle with the foreign players among the various teams.

Hobart is at the bottom of the table and after this match, Perth Scorchers are no.2 in points table. Actually Hobart Hurricanes put up a decent total (172/8). But then Aaron Hardie just demolished the Hobart bowlers. Apart from Chris Jordan, hardly anyone had economy of less than 10 among the Hobart bowlers. And then Zak Crawley provided enough support to Hardie from the other end. BBL has just started, and Perth Scorchers have started their season on a positive note. Hobart as usual is in a horrible state.

@WatChe I agree he’s overhyped and definitely not worth this much money but in modern day cricket you need to spend to get crazy success hence the franchises can justify their purchases. Lastly BBL was popular before IPL but post that I felt that people lost complete interest in it be the fan’s or the player’s and honestly BBL can’t compete with IPL now.
